The Magnavox MDR535H 500GB HDD & DVD Recorder with Digital Tuner features a 500GB HDD that supports up to 604 hours of recording content. You can watch, rewind and pause live TV while recording. You can also fast forward up to the present while recording live TV. The MDR535H supports 4-way dubbing and 1080p Full HD up-conversion as well. There are multiple connectivity options including an HDMI output, DV input, S-video, component video, composite video and more. Convenience functions include a three-language on-screen display and parental control for child protection.

I am using this recorder for cheaper video recording gigs where I don't need any editing and can get a raw cut DVD to the client on site.
I love how easy to use it is but I don't like how limited the inputs are. Even for standard def, it'd be nice to have component in.

I bought this unit to replace my VCR. I bought the optional Pearstone Premium High-Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet - 3' (0.9 m) along with it. I receive my HD signal on an HD TV connected to a roof antenna. The unit took about 10 minutes to set up and initialize -- very easy. I was not interested in automatic programming or subscribing to a programming guide. This unit does everything my VCR did, better and much more. The remote and menus are easy to use. DVDs play better than on my other DVD player. I've been using it about 2 months. If it continues to work reliably, I will remain totally satisfied.

I am really happy with the HDD feature. All of these years I had a DVD player/recorder / VCR combo (that stopped recording). It is great to not have to put a disc/tape in the unit. The remote control functions are also great. I am very happy that I picked this specific unit.
