The Champagne VivoBook X202E-DH31T-SL 11.6" Multi-Touch Notebook Computer from ASUS features a traditional notebook computer design, but with a capacitive touchscreen for added convenience. You'll be able to use your keyboard, mouse and now your fingers as you can tap directly on tiles instead of clicking on them.
This ASUS VivoBook also features the Windows 8 (64-bit) operating system. With a redesigned Start screen, an emphasis on tiles that update in real-time, and capacitive touchscreen support, Windows 8 provides a unique user experience.
The system is powered by a dual-core 1.8GHz Intel Core i3-3217U processor. It also has 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB 5400rpm hard drive, a 3-in-1 media card reader, 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and an integrated 0.3-megapixel webcam.

The Vivobook is great looking and extremely well built, with heavy, strong steel exterior (NO plastics) high quality finishes and super tight and crisp edges, crisp corners on jack openings, etc. Very impressive. I also love the nice compact size and feel in my hand when I carry it. I prefer it over the thinner ultrabooks, many of which feel flimsy, as if they'll easily bend and/or I will drop it because it's so "slight."
Speed is fair. Not terrible. Absolutely manageable. But not super-snappy by any means.
Battery life is my primary complaint. Three hours from my "low-end" use of internet email, web searching, calendar and minor YouTube video viewing, and word and powerpoint software. Other reviewsr have said they get 4-5 hours of my kind of use, but I'm only getting three. But the battery charges VERY quickly.
I had no problem getting accustomed to the keyboard, but still struggle a bit with the touchpad and could not figure out how to upgrade the driver. Also, I feel the key mechanism is a little wierd - my keys squeak when I type.
I was initially surprised I liked Win8 homescreen. NOw that the novelty has worn off, I find it irritating because in typical msft fashion, they've basically just added ANOTHER layer to click or tap through to get to what I really want. I still have not figured out how to access some basic functions I used to get directly from my windows desktop, like the help box that used to be upper right corner
All in all, however, I bought the Vivobook as a CHEAP, sturdy and portable basic windows laptop to use for my own pc "productivity" needs. I assume I'll get a super-duper ultrabook with a battery that'll last an entire trans-continental plane trip, super snappy response time and maybe a bit lighter from work. But for my at-home "all other" needs, I really love this little laptop!

It's a nice laptop for the price but with trade offs.
It's weighs 3 lbs. In the real world this is still quite heavy to lug around.
Ultra thin.
Both the touch screen and track pad are very responsive and easy to use.
Start up time is very fast.
The champagne color is warm and the design is quite nice.
There are some limitations because of the price... Ram cannot be upgraded it's soldered in and you're limited to 4gig
Short battery life and the battery is not easily replaced. There might not be a longer life generic replacement made available because the battery is under the hood and back has to be removed first to get at it.
Also if you are new to Windows 8...it's loaded with bloatware and programs that are active behind the scenes. Windows 8 takes up an enormous ammount of space on the hard drive. Lots of proprietary software that require membership. Asus also has an update program similar to Windows update working just as soon as you start her up. Even Microsoft games now require registration. It took me two days to remove all of the Big Brother bloatware.
The hard drive is partitioned into three drives: C- 200g available 100g taken up by Windows 8. D- 200g available...and a hidden recovery drive 100g that is not accessible. This leaves less than 300g for your programs. That is equivalent to 5 year old technology.
Am I pleased with the purchase for the price yes. Would I buy it again no. I would spend more and get more RAM, a larger hard drive and longer battery life.

Comments about ASUS VivoBook X202E-DH31T-SL 11.6" Multi-Touch Notebook Computer (Champagne):
I needed a travel laptop - something lightweight and portable that would allow me to browse the internet, backup photos from the camera, and update a spreadsheet or two. I wanted something with Windows 8 on a touchscreen, but at the same time something that wouldn't hurt me too much if it got lost, stolen, or destroyed. This thing gets you pretty much all that and a bag of chips. Not super fast, and only about 2.5 hours of battery life, but it gets the job done at a very fair price.

Comments about ASUS VivoBook X202E-DH31T-SL 11.6" Multi-Touch Notebook Computer (Champagne):
The old rule for laptops used to be: cheap, lightweight, fast - pick two. But this computer is very inexpensive, very portable and lightweight, and for the purposes I am using it for (web surfing, e-mail, and business applications such as Excel and Word) it is fast.
PROs: very affordable, light and portable, quick start up, responsive light-touch keyboard, touchscreen, ample battery life, attractive brushed aluminum body
CONs: no backlight on keyboard, Asus touchpad takes getting used to, Windows 8 is an OS that needs refinement, body shows dings and scratches prominently, no DVD drive
Overall this computer is a lot of bang for the buck- I am very pleased. I needed a computer that was as portable as a tablet but had a keyboard and could run Microsoft Office for my business needs on the go. This computer delivers!

Great:
*Light weight
*Nice keyboard
*Pretty fast
*Touch screen
*Great price
Not so great:
Still getting use to Windows 8- hate that the mouse always brings my recent items on the left hand side
*battery life
*no fan (sometimes get hot)

We ordered two of this notebook computer and so far we love it. The build is sturdy, aesthetic, compact and ultra-slim. This makes it very easy and convenient for home use, business, school, and travelling. The major noticeable downside of this computer is the short battery life. Th battery last only 4 hours or less when system is used moderately (web browsing). ASUS need serious improvement in terms of battery life.

Construction: brush aluminun cover, aluminun body housing, plastic back cover.
Window 8 is great, though take some time to get use to it.

I use it at the office, take it to the University, for quick notes(as a student)and presentations(as a teacher),then back home for typical personal uses. Substitute for the tablet almost 100%, but is much less expensive than the newer ultrabook versions. Its very accurate and reliable touch screen is a "must have" for Windows 8.

The first one of these I got was defective. I returned it to B&H and they sent me a new one...no hassels. I am extremely impressed with the service I received from B&HNow onto the PC. I was dissappointed with the first one because it seemed to be having trouble with the wireless connection and also was extremely slow. Asus tech support suggested reinstalling the OS, which took, I kid you not, 4 1/2 hours to do. After that I returned it to B&H and got a new one. If you are looking for a PC thats like an Ultra book in that price range, I highly recommend you consider this one. Granted its not a power house, but for every day PC use, its great. I don't do any gaming or video editing, so it is perfect for me. I also travel a lot for work and it is very portable.
