Like its predecessors, this latest Wacom tablet makes photo and graphics work flow so much more efficiently with the pressure sensitive pen. The small footprint of this tablet doesn't take up much desk space, but still allows great detail work when you are zoomed in to a high magnification. Five stars as a pressure sensitive editing device.

The customizable Express Key, Touch Ring, and Radial Menu are all valuable, but in my opinion are definitely secondary in terms of functionality. Yes, they can give you added convenience, but most users of this tablet know Photoshop keyboard shortcuts like the back of their hand. Even though I set up all the features for what seemed like their best uses, I still find myself reverting to the keyboard since it's just as fast, and is already second nature.

The customizable Touch Gestures are a nice addition, though they are somewhat more "jaggy" than you may be accustomed to with an iPad, regardless of how you set the parameters in System Preferences. Occasionally the touch gestures will crash either Photoshop and/or Bridge. Hopefully a driver update will fix that somewhere down the road. You also need to be careful not to confuse the tablet by holding the pen in your hand while you try to execute touch gestures. If the pen is close enough to interact with the tablet while you are tapping with your fingers, you will get unpredictable results. Three stars as a touch device.
Overall, great product, with useful features far outweighing the minor disappointments.

I work a lot with professional image processing and object recoginition s/w. I hoped the pen tablet gives me mor accuracy in my s/w, but it turned out that I am actually slower than with the mouse.Using the tablet for other purposes and as a complete mouse replacement doesn't work either. Office program or browsers do not benefit from the pen. The touch function are neat but I hated those things on laptops and will not get used to it. Main problem is that you cannot drag and drop with the touch functions without pressing and addition button.I tried it also in Lightroom and found it useful, but not faster or better than the mouse. My last hope of keeping it was to use it as handriting tool. It works fine and recognise most of my words, but again it is not faster than typewriting. That being said I had to return it, but I am pretty sure it is a great tool for people who actualy draw with it - just don't expect replacing your mouse with it. As for the quality and accuracy of the h/w, I can say it is an amazing product. You can position the pen on the pixel and the look and feel is great. Too sad it didn't work for me, I really wanted to keep it, but I guess I don't use the right applications with it.It is a drawing tool after all.

I'm new to the graphics tablet world - but when they said it might take some getting use to I thought they really wouldn't apply to me as I catch on to things pretty quickly. I definitely took me longer than I anticipated (about a week - not an hour) I watched some of the Wacom user videos to get started and I was off and running. I haven't completely set it up for my preferences yet, but it is making editing my photographs and running my computer much quicker and easier. My next purchase will be the wireless connection - although I have been doing fine with it corded. I'm just using with a laptop so that just makes me a bit more corded. It also came with some wonderful software free!

Product is used by daughter who had wrist surgery, pain and limited motion. The tablet was a good alternative to using a mouse. She is happy with it and says she will use it even after she is 100% healed.

This Wacom pad is worth the money, if you are a traveler and your on the go the small Intous 5 is for you. This one is easy to carry in a small bag. The larger one is mostly for home or a office where theres space to have it on a desk.

Comments about Wacom Intuos5 Small Pen & Touch Tablet:

Im a photographer with a deep joy for post production. A tablet is a must in my workflow and I usually work on images manually. So, I was bamboo user for for about 3 or 4 years and the tablet finally died. Time for an update and Intuos was the next logical step. I mainly work on monitors from 21 to 27" and I really struggled on making my mind about the small or medium size. I went for small because by not having a large area, arm movement is minimal. Price wise is plus a 100 bucks with medium.

Im totally fine working with the small one and probably would have returned the medium one because it would take too much space in my desk.

I also kept an eye on the newest version called Intuos PRO, however I couldnt see too much of a difference, except maybe for the express keys which to my use are useless.

Now to the tablet per se, it is highly customizable and it took me about 5 minutes to change most settings to what I normally use. Express keys at least for me are not important and probably would not spend time trying to figure out how to use them. The surface of the table feels more rugged and it creates a higher friction with the pen. So, my pen sensitivity is now set to soft because it does seem like the pen tips are going to wear off rather quickly.

I havent really tried the touch feature, wont use it.

Final toughts, for the price I think its worth it. It comes in a beautiful package that makes you feel proud of your purchase. I bought this tablet as a tool. It does everything that my old bamboo did and a little more. Overall feels better. It works perfect with my workflow and monitors.

I wouldnt recommend travel with one of these though, they are bulky and somewhat heavy.

Installation process took me 5 minutes and that was it. I just kept working with a new tablet and feel very little difference which was what I needed.

Comments about Wacom Intuos5 Small Pen & Touch Tablet:

Preface, I am a photographer, so my uses vary from basic "mouse usage" to more intensive photoshop editing/masking

I started using a tablet mainly because of the ergonomics of a mouse have started to stress out my wrist over the years. I tried the Wacom Intuos 3 when it first came out and it was good, but I couldn't fully commit to it since I wanted the flexibility using it as a touch pad for the moments I put the stylus down. That being said, that's one of my favorite features of this tablet.

It has all the pressure points I would ever need as a photographer and that's always been a plus about the Wacom Intuos Line (now intuos pro). Definitely a must have for users that spend a lot of time at the computer in the design field. I'd even recommend it to those that may be developing carpal tunnel in the wrist because of using a mouse. It definitely takes a little time getting used to the new motion, but a quick adjustment.

Only thing I would change would be to add a feature like a touchpad where you could 'click and drag' something. Other than that, I love mine!

Great control, nice new surface, excellent ergonomics. I have been using Wacom tablets for about 12 years. The Intuous 5 is an excellent upgrade. For those wanting ultimate control with their processing, take the plunge and get a Wacom tablet. Once you adjust to it, you'll feel sorry for everyone else trying to use a mouse!

Comments about Wacom Intuos5 Small Pen & Touch Tablet:

I use this tablet mostly for AutoCAD. The pen has 2 buttons on the side that I configured as the middle and right buttons of the mouse. The left click of the mouse it is the actual pen touching the tablet with the tip of the pen. The only thing that takes some time to get used to it is the zoom in and out that you do with the mouse scrolling the wheel. You have to do it from the tablet with a circular motion on the ring on the tablet.

Great for internet and any other Windows programs.

So much better than a mouse with images and workflow in general. I have the small and would not want anything larger as I was surprised how large it is. However its small enough to carry on the road. An excellent value. So far I use the touch more than the pin but see its benefits for tweaking.

Comments about Wacom Intuos5 Small Pen & Touch Tablet:

Having used a Wacom Bamboo Capture for a couple of years, I was somewhat familiar with working on a tablet. Well, the move from the Capture to the Intuos5 small was like going from driving a Yugo (some of you may need to look that one up) to driving a Formula One car........ The best feature for me is how you can program the ExpressKeys, Touch Ring and Grip Pen Buttons to do different things in each of the programs you use!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about Wacom Intuos5 Small Pen & Touch Tablet:

I used a Wacom Bamboo tablet for over five years. It was a good tablet but the software was getting dated and it often stopped working. Finally I was forced to upgrade.

I decided to try the higher end Intuos5 series. My first impression out of the box was that this is a much nicer product. The pen tracking is very accurate. The feel of the tablet surface is excellent. And the software works very well.

                                            I recommend this product.

Just like it bigger brothers, the Intuos5 is a remarkable tool. I have the Large size for the desktop and bought this small one for the road and for use in the field. I also purchased the wireless kit which works like a dream and surprisingly far from the host computer.

The actual tablet has ALL the features and responses of its bigger brothers and is a pleasure to work with.

Would recommend and would buy again.

I use the tablet instead of a mouse or touchpad on my laptop. Great control for my digitizing. I haven't yet programmed the buttons due to a time constraint so cannot yet comment on them, but look forward to not having to lean over to the keyboard for common use functions. Only thing that was a slight problem, is that the newest drivers would not work on my laptop. An older driver worked just fine for me. This is my second Wacom tablet. The first one lasted 12 years and still works. Just wanted the buttons on the tablet. Enjoy!

On my desktop, I use a Wacom Intuos5 medium tablet. The small tablet allows me to carry it along really easily with me when I'm out of my usual workspace with my laptop. I get all of the same amazing interface features of the larger tablet, but in a form factor that's suited for the smaller screen and easy to take along.I don't use the wireless functionality as I find the usb cable easy to carry along in the Wacom case (available as a separate purchase) and don't have to worry about the long charge times of the battery for wireless use.I really, really appreciate the touch capability when I need it, and lvoe that it's a single click of a button on the tablet to turn it off when it'll get in the way. I also love the hover over pop-up menu. Makes it superbly easy to remember what I've assigned to the buttons.

If you use Photoshop, you should get this. Because it is pressure sensitive, you can do things with it that you can't do with a mouse. The small one is the size to get. It's plenty large enough.

Have used the Intuos3 6"x11" wide format for serveral years now and loved it. Mainly do photo editing. Recent desk change forced to downsize for desk real estate. I chose the Intuos5 Small tablet and really love it. I use a dual monitor setup and with just a couple hours of getting used to it, it does all the big one did and more. Handles both monitors with no problem. Find that I actually make better selections with less hand movement even at 200%. The touch features will probably be very handy but I haven't gotten used to them yet. But it seems to be well engineered as with all Wacom tablets. Great product!
