I'm a CG animator, and i like working with a mouse in 3d apps. but i like to practice my 2d and have been using the intuos for a while. but the intuos has never felt natural, it felt as if i was always guessing while using it to draw.
at my job, some of the work stations have 21 inch centiq's, i was concidering buyig one, so i decided to try it out. it was awesome, 1000X better then using an intuos, but by the end of the day my shoulder bothered me, and i never found a position that made it comfortable to use. i kinda stepped back from the idea of buying one for a bit.
a couple monthes pass, and i see a blog post about how awesome the 12wx was, so i looked into it. its smaller, ( that is a plus for me), its way more compact, also a plus, and i can sit it on my lap while i draw, not to mention it was a grand cheeper, so I went for it.
Glad i did, its definitly the perfect fit, the size was definitly my big problem with the other one, my sholder does not bother me with the 12wx. plus i can sit in a comfortable chair or couch and do some drawings. for a grand less, with all the same features, how can you say no.
if you think about it this way, you can spend 500 or more on a intuos, but you will always feel distant from your art. for a couple more dollars, you get an amazing tool, that keeps you connected to your art. its really the best tool out there.
unless you like a larger screen (and a heftier price tag) then by all means go with the 21 inch Cintiq.

Bought an Ipad, loved the ability to draw/illustrate in Photoshop type apps. Wanted to upgrade to the tablet for the pen pressure feature and to actually use Photoshop. Some reviews said this model was dimmer than the other wacom's. It is. It's little lower res and the screen is not much larger than an Ipad. These three issues combined, made my 40+ year old eyes hurt after only a little bit of use. I'm probably spoiled by the Ipad's hires, intense screen. This may be a good starter model for younger people, but after investing [$]I returned this 12WX (thanks B&H) and went "all in" for another [$]and moved up to the 22HD. Much brighter and better resolution.

We use these in the classroom to demonstrate drawing techniques. We have purchased four of them. The faculty and students love to use them.

A really nice product, but I am used to Intuos 4 and like the scroll wheel better than the strip. Others have mentioned calibration problems due to only 2 alignments. With new drivers it is now 4 alignment points, but still a little inaccuracy near the edges. I'm having a little trouble with the pen loosing pressure sensitivity from time to time, leaving a big fat stroke. I have heard it is a driver problem and should be fixed, I guess.. The screen isn't as bright as it could have been, but not a huge problem. Guess they have to save some pros for the pricier models (?) After all I am very satisfied. I replaced my Intuos 4 mainly because this gives a better feel of nautural drawing (looking at where you are drawing). I find it a huge improvment over tablets without a screen!!

I edit photos and do illustration and honestly I should have made this purchase years ago. I love the way this tablet connects fluidly with my MAC and is such a useful tool. I started out with the Intuos tablets with much frustration learning to draw on the tablet and look at my computer monitor. With the Cintiq its like drawing on paper, what I see is what I get. I draw, paint and frequently erase with no mess. It encourages me to draw more... and faster! LOVE IT!!!

I use this product to illustrate and touch up photos. Previously I used a mouse and intous tablet and tried my best to make due with those tools. The Cintiq 12WX makes things so much easier. With the Cintiq 12WX it makes drawing and painting fun again. There isn't the step of trying to coordinate hand and eye on the screen, I loved putting it straight onto the screen and seeing the result. Its so fluid. I can go from rough sketches to final painting effortlessly. Some reviews complain about drawing to the edges and the array of wires - I'm more concerned about creating than complaining. All I'm saying is that I should have gotten this Cintiq 12WX sooner.

I am not a professional graph designer, but do like to draw. I just started to learn digital drawing and the Cintiq seemed to be a good start for me although I do hope it could become a "independent" tablet with full-function in drawing and note-taking without the necessity of connecting with another main processing device, something like Asus Eee Slate or Samsung Galaxy Tab Note but with more powerful function in graph design. BH's shipping and handling were very efficient and reliable.

Comments about Wacom Cintiq 12WX 12.1" Interactive Pen Display:
I switched to the Cintiq from an Intuis tablet also made by WACOM. My art work is small and detailed and I was having difficulty with the disconnect between drawing on the tablet and looking at the screen - despite having worked with the Intuis for years (and loving it). This disconnect resulted in me repeating a drawing element sometimes three or four times to get it right.
I was uncertain if the Cintiq would really make a big difference for me, but it has! While it's not exactly like drawing on a pad of paper, it is so much easier working on the Cintiq, compared with drawing on a tablet while looking at the computer screen. It is also easier on my eyes and neck as I can hold the Cintiq on my lap and draw.
Initially I was VERY confused that I was using a dual monitor configuration, as I thought the default setting would be mirror monitors, but once I understood that, using the tablet was easy.
I have been using Wacom products for over five years now and have ZERO complaints. The Cintiq exceeding my expectations and I am happy with my purchase.
Because I am working on very small images (4" x4") the small size of the drawing area doesn't bother me, but if you are working on larger pieces, I would recommend purchasing a larger Cintiq.

I use my Cintiq for image editing, illustration, & composting both artistic & scientific subjects. Compared to a high end mouse or another tablet the ability to edit directly on the screen is a huge advantage in speed & accuracy.
the 12" model is perfect for the average desk top while still being reasonably portable.

Comments about Wacom Cintiq 12WX 12.1" Interactive Pen Display:
Much more useful than an ordinary tablet as it helps bridge the gap between technology and traditional art. It definitely doesn't replace it but still closer than using a regular tablet and not looking at all where you're actually drawing. In addition, with the power of whatever software you own that you would use with this tablet and the technique of traditional art combines to create a whole other experience--one that is much more enjoyable at times. Definitely recommended IF you use a tablet everyday. Only issue I really got is that I wish it came with some sort of screen calibration software to adjust the color output of multiple screens. Minor, but my two cents.

Amazing product. The shipping was fast and so was the service. I will be using it for illustrations and visual development and is best suited, because of its portability and handy size. I travel a lot as well, so it is quite easier to carry around. On a park or a sunny landscape when you feel the urge to paint, this is the size you should go for. Affordable price as well.

This products is Fantastic product. Just the right sixe for my use. So easy to set up and use. It is easy to change from USA plug to Australian plug. You just change cord and the transformer does the rest. (just a few dollars or use cord from old monitor "it the same") So great for any country power system.[...]
