The PIXMA iP7220 Wireless Color Photo Printer from Canon prints in black and white at 15 ipm and in color at 10 ipm. Additionally, it takes just 21 seconds to output a 4.0 x 6.0" borderless photo. The printer's HD Movie Print feature isolates individual frames from an HD movie taken on a Canon EOS or PowerShot camera and prints them as still photos. In addition to photos and documents, the iP7220 has a CD tray which allows you to print directly onto an inkjet-printable CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray disc. Create your own custom CD designs or print the contents right on the disc itself, no need to use cumbersome labels.

In addition to standard USB connectivity, the PIXMA iP7220 features built-in Wi-Fi. With wireless printing you can easily save space and share 1 printer with your entire network. The printer is also compatible with AirPrint. Print wirelessly from a compatible Apple device without having to install any drivers.

The iP7220's auto duplex mode lets you print on both sides of the page without having to manually turn the page over. Create 2-sided documents and cut your paper consumption by up to 50%. Canon's Easy-WebPrint EX lets you collect parts of different websites and create a customized printout. Use the software to move, resize, and trim the clips, then print the document or save it as a PDF.

I have owned several printers since the 1980s, but my last one was the Pixma 4000 series. It lasted over 7 years! So, of course, I bought another Canon, and the 7220 was the logical choice. It prints texts for me daily and occasional pictures. The low price hardly equals the advancement in capacity. The borderless photos are great, and you don't have to tell it from which tray to get the paper. It knows where your 11x8½" and 4x6" are already. I particularly like the extra large ink tank option because in the long-run, it saves money and time running to the store. Another pleasant feature is that the paper is hidden inside a handsome black unit, so little dust can get in. At high quality, it's a bit slow, and it takes a little time to get warmed up, but if it keeps itself clean, it could go on forever.

like the heading said i should have realized without a back feed ability for paper and placing paper print side down would force the paper to be pushed against rollers just to get in position to print. I should have send it back as I always had Canon printers and they have always done the job whether a 4x6 or full letter size print. My iP4700 died after 3 plus yrs. of heavy use and I had to replace it. Wireless was they way to go so we could end having 3 different printers in house.
Using Canon paper as always the which I have Photo Paper Pro I see lines from rollers and small tiny droplet marks. I have experimented with drivers and print from Nikons Capture NX2 latest version 2.40 or from canons own Easy Photo Print EX 4.15 which I got from web site... the disc has older versions of about everything based on dates canon has on web site. All else is fine. it prints from iPhone 5 simply using apple's pages app which is their version of word or downloading Canon's app for printing pictures from iPhone allowing you to setup all choices thru EPPex.I will continue to experiment with settings and hopefully get the droplet marks worked out via paper choices and driver settings. which is my biggest complaint. Also wish they didn't give setup cartridges as they should give the standard ink cartridges with printer as they have done in the past. Miss my iP4700.... rest of the users in my house like the convenience of wireless as we have 4 iPhone 5's here along with 3 laptops and my desktop. Cassettes do make it easier to always have paper in for other users. Haven't tried a cd yet but will and hope they come out nice.

I highly recommend that you don't install from disc and go to web site and just download what you need as they put a ton of useless apps on. You can uncheck them during install choosing custom but the folders are still placed on computer.

I have been using this printer for office work and printing 8x10 prints. The prints look great and the colors are very accurate to my monitor. Being a printer at a professional imaging lab, I know what makes a good print, and this printer delivers.

Documents and various size photos have come out great. Very fast b & W printing.
Be aware during setup: printer has two trays (a first for me). The lower one is used in setup. A very minor possible cause for confusion only at setup.
Having separate trays that can keep various paper makes for faster output when changing media.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP7220 Wireless Color Photo Printer:

I needed a replacement for my beloved Pixma iP4300 when the print head failed (too bad; it's user-replaceable, but replacements are unavailable) and the Pixma iP7220 provides roughly the same capability at a substantial savings.

The iP7220 is a new and different approach to this mission. It's lower and more compact than its predecessors, and the broad, flat top has no openings other than a door to access the ink tanks, so you can print without ever clearing off any of the clutter that's collected up on it. And the front panel door/paper tray opens automatically when you command a print! What a neat trick! Why didn't anyone think of it before?
Duplex printing is a standard feature.

A removable paper cassette was a feature I liked about the iP4300, and the iP7220 has TWO -- different sizes; you can load both at once with different paper types, and the smaller cassette has an adapter for printable CD/DVDs. (But it won't hold #10 envelopes.)

But no top-loader means you can't just drop in an odd-sized sheet and start printing; you have to remove the right cassette, remove the loaded paper and readjust it for the paper you want to print. And the *five* ink tanks, a long-loved Canon feature, are no longer transparent, so you can no longer see how much ink is left. (The software tells you, but do you trust it?)

The driver software is especially flashy, and you may need to figure out how to minimize or defeat the big onscreen displays so you can get on with your work. But the printer does its job with the performance Canon users have come to expect, and mine has yet to jam or misfeed.

I use the printer mainly for printing various material from the web, especially emails and appreciate both the fast printing and black only choices. And as an amateur photographer,I also appreciate the good color printing capability. I do miss the printer display of ink levels and operating info that was on my old HP printer display. I have yet to be able to AirPrint from iPhones and iPads as the insructional material is anything but clear on how to enable this. The email support though has been good answering various gueries, including about installing AirPrint capability, which I am just waiting to find the time try.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP7220 Wireless Color Photo Printer:

The print is good quality. Only problem so far is it will not connect to the network wirelessly so all computers can print to it. I had to use it as wired even though it does say it is wireless. It did connect to the main computer wirelessly, other computers can see it on the network but can't print to it wireless but others can print to it as "Shared" and Yes, it is maked "Shared". Main purpose for purchasing was to be able to print directly to CD's which I have not had a chance to try out yet. It does print slower than my Canon PIXMA iP3000. At this point, I'm not sure that I would recommend highly but guess it is worth the price.

Only drawbacks so far are that there is not a rear feed tray for photo paper like my previous Canon printer and it takes a while to print when first turned on.

I have had to re-setup the printer three times already. This morning it has lost the WiFi connection again. If you are considering this because of the WiFi feature, don't. It does not work.

Caution: Apple's OS X Printer & Fax preference panel does not correctly download this printer's driver, unless the printer is first connected via USB. The same holds true about some other, none Cannon, printers.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP7220 Wireless Color Photo Printer:

The printer was easy to install and use both hardwired and wireless. It is fast, quiet and has excellent quality printing. The printer is reasonably priced but the new cartridges are expensive--one complete set of cartridges cost as much as the printer and there are no compatible alternatives at the moment. (Canon is employing the strategy of razor companies--make the razors available at a low cost and make a profit on the blades). There is a company that offers refill kits that I have not tried yet, but will soon. The print head assembly is not removable, so cannot be taken out for cleaning as could previous models, such as iP4300 and iP4700, that I had previously owned.

This printer works pretty well, so far. I haven't printed many images, so I can't say much on that side, though I'm impressed with what I've done to date. It's not the quietest nor the fastest text printer, particularly as it gears up for the first page, and the need to open the front and turn the thing on manually is bothersome (it's supposed to turn on and off automatically, but does not want to).

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP7220 Wireless Color Photo Printer:

We loved our ip4700 and I will say the 7220 is a disappointment.

The printed colors are off compared to the ip4920 or ip4700. We've messed with the settings and no luck.

The 7220 also does not provide a rear paper feed. This really limits what you can do with the printer. We always have felt comfortable using the rear feed for photo paper, labels, etc and this is a HUGE dissapointment!

I too really hope Canon will reconsider these flaws and will come out with a new printer with the basic features we have become accustomed to over the years, particularly the rear feed.

We have been loyal Canon users for years and this is the first time we have been disappointed or dissatisfied with one of their products.

This printer is a replacement for my 15 yr old canon. This made purchasing another canon an easy choice. Prints great photos and I like the separate photo tray! Wireless printing was easy to settup. Only wish it has some manual with it in hard copy form.

I have used Canon printers for years and have been completely satisfied. That is until now. Canon has not only taken away the rear feed capability in this printer that replaces the 4920, they have also taken away the custom size options as well. Now instead of being able to print wallet size prints, the smallest width that can be printed is 3.5 inches vs. 2.17 inches in the past. Why come out with a NEW model with LESS functionality. This printer is also very bulky and much larger than the 4920 it has replaced. Not to mention the photo quality is also lacking. Photo print much more blue than models past. The first time I used the bottom load paper tray it broke. I adjusted the size, and the spring popped off of the tray making it no longer usable.I've been told by Canon they are moving to ALL bottom tray paper feeding and discontinuing their rear tray option. This is extremely disappointing as I'm sure many of us out there liked the option of both. I do not recommend this printer. Canon, please read this and make adjustments in your current printers. Add back in the rear tray and custom paper sizes of 2.17 width.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP7220 Wireless Color Photo Printer:

like the heading said i should have realized without a back feed ability for paper and placing paper print side down would force the paper to be pushed against rollers just to get in position to print.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP7220 Wireless Color Photo Printer:

I take bird photos and have been using a Canon i850 photo printer. It's still is a very good printer. I decided to purchase a new photo printer and found that Canon just released a new photo printer PIXMA iP7220. WOW, what a GREAT Printer. B & H was the only company that had them in stock and they had it for less than the other online retailers. B & H has the best prices and the best products. Keep up the great work B & H.
