Product Highlights
  • 10-Stop Neutral Density Filter
  • Increase Exposure Length
  • Greater Control Over Exposures
  • Designed for LEE Filter Holders
  • CR-39 Dyed Resin

The Hitech 100 x 100mm ProStop 3.0 IRND Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 10 stop reduction in exposure. This 3.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or longer shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

The ProStop IRND filters have been optimized for use with digital sensors and promote nearly flat attenuation of both visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. This filter provides a high level of neutrality across both spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks.

This filter measures 3.9 x 3.9" / 100 x 100mm, 0.12" / 3mm-thick (for use in LEE-type filter holders), and is constructed from specially dyed CR-39 optical resin.

Comments about Formatt Hitech 100 x 100mm ProStop 3.0 IRND Filter:

          1. Has a blue color cast...but I expected that, and expected to adjust in post processing.2. The foam on the back came off after sliding the filter in/out of the holder a couple of times...so not very good. But don't know if the foam is a gimmick or not and if it really keeps light out (thinking of returning).3. The filter does its job reducing the light as intended (with or without the foam)4. Would recommend because it does its job5. Would not recommend because the foam came off after a couple of uses.

Comments about Formatt Hitech 100 x 100mm ProStop 3.0 IRND Filter:

I returned this item. All my shots with this filter had a strong blue/green color shift and diminished reds. I was not able to correct for this in Photoshop despite trying several techniques. I'll use the Lee Big Stopper instead.

Comments about Formatt Hitech 100 x 100mm ProStop 3.0 IRND Filter:

There is a blue/magenta color cast when using this filter alone.

Combining with GND, the results will be worse. There are magenta bands in the middle of the frame which it is almost impossible to remove in PP.

These happen when there is no direct or indirect sunlight in sight.

A plus for this filter is its robustness. I accidentally dropped on the ground covered mostly by grass and the filter is intact without scratch.

I use this filter for long exposure photography and i am getting great Pics with this, I am loving it. I gave 4 star because of its poor protective case. most important thing, its made from resin, not a glass, which is really great.

Comments about Formatt Hitech 100 x 100mm ProStop 3.0 IRND Filter:

I heard via a friend that Hitech had redesigned their ProStop filters and that they were fantastic so I tried this one. I am a Singh-Ray filter user so I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the quality I saw using this filter. There is a blue cast on my raw files but it can be easily removed with the proper white balance. I've only used it a few times and so fa so good. I use it for LE photography.
