The DxO Optics Pro 8 (Standard) is photo editing software based on your specific camera and lens combination. DxO has tested all compatible lens and camera combinations, considering each piece of equipment's weaknesses, and automatically compensating for these shortcomings when editing. The result is highly optimized photo editing that's faster than the norm. Whether you're a pro, a student, or a beginner, this software ramps up your workflow and allows you to spend more time shooting, and less time in post-production.

In addition to the intimate knowledge DxO has gleaned from all the compatible cameras and lenses, Optics Pro 8 features presets that make your workflow even smoother. The interface is also extremely user-friendly and able to be customized for your specific needs. Other important functions like dust removal, color management, exposure and contrast, and RAW conversion give you the ability to tweak and modify to suit each specific situation.

Automatic & Tailored Corrections
Optics Pro 8 automatically corrects and improves your photos as soon as you open them. Corrections are precisely tailored to your images by taking into account the camera and lens you used. After entering detailed information of your equipment, Optics Pro 8 provides you with the tools to improve sharpness and general image quality in your photos
Rigorous Optical Corrections
Optics Pro 8 corrects all the optical flaws in your images (RAW and JPEG) such as distortion, vignetting, and chromatic aberrations with precision. With a unique library of thousands of DxO Optics Modules, you'll be able to find one that makes each correction to every single image. Generated using an exclusive calibration process for each combination of cameras and lenses, DxO Optics Modules contain tens of thousands of data about the intrinsic flaws of each camera and lens
Lens Softness
Optics Pro 8 can automatically sharpens photos (RAW and JPG) with the Lens Softness tool. Image sharpness is improved and homogenized from the center to the photo edges. The results are even more noticeable when it comes to RAW-format photos. Local-content photo analysis technology offers you better image quality, even when pushing settings to the max. Optics Pro 8 also preserves the bokeh, avoiding artifacts that can appear in homogenous or deliberately out-of-focus zones
Light & Contrast Optimization
Restore the ideal balance between the dark and light zones in your images. The Smart Lighting feature intelligently reveals your photos details under different lighting conditions, including under- or overexposure. Light and contrast are locally as well as globally optimized for a perfect rendering. Set your hand on a unique intensity slider to globally refine final rendering and make subtle improvements. Use the Selective Tone tool to precisely and separately handle highlights, midtones and shadows. The HDR mono-image tool provides the final touch, revealing tons of details in burnt or dark zones
Automatic Denoising
Obtain detailed textures with accurate colors to your night shots in Optics Pro 8. The denoising tool has been designed to support all cameras, which automatically eliminating the digital noise from all your images
RAW Conversion
Optimized for RAW format, Optics Pro 8 provides in-depth fine adjustments to your photos in a non-destructive manner. Master your image rendering by adjusting the white balance, details and colors. Save your settings as custom presets to easily apply them to batches of images later
Color Management
In Optics Pro 8, you'll be able to control of the sliders and adjust the white balance, vibrancy, tonal curves, protection of saturated colors and multi-point balance (Mac only). You can even change the color rendering by choosing to apply that of an entirely different camera
Geometrical Corrections
Fix the perspective and straighten the horizons in your compositions while preserving the natural volume and shapes of your subjects. The volume anamorphosis correction restores a natural look to the shapes and proportions of subjects located at the edges of images deformed by the use of wide-angle lenses, all while preserving the realistic reproduction of the scene as a whole
Optimal Workflow
Select an image folder or create a project containing photos from different file sources. The default preset is applied automatically and you can simply preview corrections and start advanced processing. You can apply a preset or manipulate any of the numerous correction sliders in the settings palettes. Optics Pro 8 offers two built-in workspaces, First steps and Advanced user, in order to help you achieve improved image quality with minimal difficulty. When you're done editing your photos, you can develop your image or launch batch processing while continuing to customize other images
Dust Removal
Remove the lens or sensor dust specks on your photos. Imperfections can sometimes appear on your camera sensor or lens and ruin an entire series of photos. With Optics Pro 8, you can save your anti-dust corrections and apply them to an entire batch of images. The specks will disappear from all your photos with just a click. You can also use the anti-dust tool to remove undesirable elements from your photos, such as an antenna or a power line. Optics Pro 8 does this by reconstructing the background of your image

The DxO Optics Pro 8 Standard Edition supports entry-level and mid-range DSLR cameras as well as some high-end digital compact cameras. Please make sure to check the DxO's website to confirm compatibility for your camera: DxO Supported Equipment

Comments about DXO Optics Pro 8 (Standard):

The DxO Optics Pro is a fantastic program for global editing of digital imagery for those who want the ultimate corrections for their photos. Most digital camera / lens combinations have been analyzed in detail by DxO for everything less than perfect and the program will automatically adjust your images to optical-technical perfection. Simply clicking your mouse over the displayed image will instantly switch between original and corrected versions. There are a great many adjustments that can be made by default or at your specific request and the results are visible easily and quickly. The user interface is extremely well thought out and intuitive. It can be surprising to see the actual imperfections in some images and what the corrected version looks like.

I have taken some landscape RAW HDR images that were prone to noise and chromatic aberations, ran each image through DxO then ran these results through my HDR program and the results were outstanding. DxO is now one of my primary digital editing tools.
