The IDX CW-1 Wireless HDMI Video Transmission System is a wireless transmitter/receiver set that transmits video signals up to 1080i60 uncompressed, with embedded audio, on the license-free 5 GHz frequency band. It supports transmissions up to 300 ft line-of-sight with less than 1 ms latency in interference-free environments, and 30 to 150 ft line-of-sight in average environments. It uses WHDI smart antenna transmission technology.

The transmitter has a stick-type form factor and can be plugged directly into a camera's HDMI output. If the output is somehow blocked, you can use an included right-angled HDMI adapter or an HDMI cable to connect the two. An HDMI cable comes with the kit but is intended for use with the receiver. The receiver outputs video by HDMI to HDMI recorders or directly to an HDMI display.

An AC power adapter is included for the receiver, and a USB-to-USB cable is included for powering the transmitter off any USB power source, such as a computer. However, both units are best off powered by optional battery adapters -- model #s A-CWJ-TX/A-CWJ-RX and A-CWS-TX/A-CWS-RX. These adapters accept JVC SSL-JVC50 and Sony L series batteries and connect to TX/RX via USB outputs.

Comments about IDX CW-1 Wireless HDMI Video Transmission System:

I recently bought this device and used it at a live mas crowd event. Before the place was crowded, i tested it and it worked great (good video HD and ausio). I covered a distance of about 200-250ft. But when the place got crowded, then the signal started breaking up and even disappearing. I have another event this weekend and will try to put the receiver on a pole about 12ft tall. i will report back on this experiment. but all-in-all, it's worth the price.

Comments about IDX CW-1 Wireless HDMI Video Transmission System:

This is my first wireless HD setup. I couldn't be happier. I always thought that high quality wireless HD was going to cost over $2000, but this manages to deliver for a fraction of the cost. The quality is very good. There appears to be no added noise at all. Now, unfortunately, it doesn't have a huge range. With line of sight it works for about 100-150 feet. Through walls it works about 60 feet.

I am a DP, and on set I can run this off my camera to the DIT who can then add a 3D LUT live and then output to the director's monitor. Also works great for flying steadicam.

Easy to set up and use. Had to contact IDX because I was getting a pink video feed. Found out it was the HDMI - SDI converter. Purchased a Blcakmagic Design HDMI - SDI mini converter (non battery type) and then direct into our Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 M/E and video was perfect.

okay I have now used this unit many times. it has developed problems with linking. I have returned the old unit for repair and bought a new one from BH yesterday because I have to use it next week. The fellow at IDX that I talked to this week says some units have had internal board problems. I am hoping that I don't have this same problem with the new one. Also to follow up on my complaint about the VGA adaptors, I have discovered after talking with Sony about my camera the nx5u, that to make the output work with VGA, the hdmi output on the camera has to be set to 720, not 1080. now the vga adaptor works fine. so the problem was NOT with the IDX unit. I will let you know if any problems develop with the new unit I'm using next week

I do wireless video live simulcasts for events: weddings, bar mitzvah, meetings, etc. I have found this unit to be very easy to use and it works great but there some things you need to know. It only has one output: an hdmi output. I have found that not all the places that I want to use it at has hdmi inputs. some have composite or component and a few have vga. I have bought a few hdmi to vga converters from b&h and have not had one work yet. I think the inputs think I'm transmitting hdcp video and they won't let the signal through. I am at a loss to find a converter that works. i welcome all ideas from people. I am using this cw-1 with a sony nx5u. I would have given this 5 stars if the video worked with all inputs

If you are planning to use these units in between walls, be aware that the most distance you can go is around 20 to 25 feet. I have couple of these and couldn't reach more than 25 feet between walls. I've kept the units with me though, because they still working fine for my purpose.

This thing is great. Uncompressed transmission of 1080p that goes beyond the 100' range in the specs for under $1k. What's not to like.
