The PowerShot N offers the Canon HS System, which combines a 12.1MP high-sensitivity CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 5 Image Processor to create photo and video images with accurate color and rich detail. It provides high quality low-light capability up to 6400 ISO and fast performance speed in both still mode and Full 1080 HD video. Video mode is one-touch ready via the dedicated movie button. A new body design provides shutter and zoom rings for quick, intuitive adjustments and shooting and the 2.8" tilting, capacitive LCD with touch control offers easy menu navigation and the ability to compose and view playback from multiple angles.

The PowerShot N features an 8x optical zoom lens with a maximum aperture of f/3.0. The 8x zoom provides focal lengths that run from true wide-angle 28mm to telephoto 224mm in the 35mm format. It also automatically compensates for camera shake with Intelligent Image Stabilization, which offers six separate stabilization modes.

Built-in Wi-Fi allows you to wirelessly transfer images to your computer, or to any Android or iOS device via Canon's free CameraWindow app. With the CameraWindow app you can also send images directly to social networking sites and the camera's one-touch Mobile Device Connect Button makes connecting to your smartphone simple.

12.1 Megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS Sensor
Optimized for use in compact cameras, the 12.1MP CMOS sensor provides high sensitivity for high quality, low-noise images even at high ISO levels. Its high speed design captures images with speed and moves them quickly to the image processor enabling faster autofocus and continuous shooting.
Canon DIGIC 5 Image Processor
The latest generation Canon DIGIC 5 Image Processor increases processing speed and power, delivers clear images in low light, and performs advanced functions such as lens correction and creative scene modes.
Built-in Wi-Fi and Mobile Device Connect Button
Built-in Wi-Fi allows you to wirelessly transfer images to your computer or your iOS or Android device via the Canon CameraWindow app, which is available as a free download. Through the CameraWindow app, you can send images directly to social networking sites such as Facebook and the camera's Mobile Device Connect Button allows for one touch connection to your smartphone or tablet.
8x Optical Zoom Lens
The 8x optical zoom 28mm wide-angle lens provides a range of shooting options from true wide angle to telephoto. The lens offers the 35mm focal length equivalency of a 28-224mm lens with a maximum aperture of f/3.0.
Optical Image Stabilization
The len's optical image stabilization system offers compensation for camera shake and allows for faster shutter speeds and clearer images in low light situations. Six separate shake correction modes provide crisp images in both photo and video capture.
2.8" Capacitive Tilt-Touch LCD
A newly designed 2.8" capacitive LCD screen provides clear image composition and playback. Its tilt capability allows for shooting from high and low angles as well as better viewing in direct sunlight. The top-mounted hinge keeps the PowerShot N compact, even when folded out, for easy, one-handed operation and the panel's touch control offers simple and intuitive menu adjustment.
Full HD 1080p Video
A dedicated movie button makes it easy to switch directly to video mode. With one touch of the button you are able to capture video in Full HD 1080p video at 24 frames per second. Video is also available in lower resolutions and in miniature effect mode and Super Slow Motion mode. Short Movie "Digests" can be created at 1280 x 720 resolution.
Ring Control
Dual lens rings provide control over the lens and shutter. The outer ring controls the shutter, which can be released from any point on the ring. However you hold the PowerShot N, the shutter release is always under your finger for quick and discreet release. The inner ring controls the zoom of the lens ensuring your images are sharp and clear. Responsive and silent zoom action provides the feel of real lens control when operating the PowerShot N.
New Creative Shot Mode
With Creative Shot Mode you can automatically create images with artistic flair. In addition to the original shot, the camera automatically produces and saves five unique variations of the composition by cropping it, rotating it, or adjusting its color or tone.

First, I'm very sorry for the below clumsy English sentences because I'm not a native.I had 35yrs experience in photo world, but not a professional. Although enough I know my skill is of no artistic value, I can do some, in taking a photo, using a wide variety of skill sets based on long-time experience and studies. BUT, I think this PS N camera automatically makes several shots revolutionized our common sense. Of course, we know we could get same results with some cameras equipping art-filters, but good timing for shutter is very limited and setting art-filters via camera MENU button, as many people knew, bothers us on good shutter chance. PS N helps me undergo a photographical metamorphosis without no chore (considering framing, many art-frames, exposure settings). Of course PS N also has a lot of shooting modes and we can install many Mac/Win Applications, I do not use these yet. I only do touch a LCD monitor just on my impressive target, or push lens, on good timing. My work is the above only, after several seconds, I can get some unbelievable, unconventional results automatically !!In last, as many know, this's a toy, however, help us being fashionable photographers. Only one limiting of this device, someone said, is the lack of RAW data, but I believe we should use PS N as a casual and super toy camera, no need RAW retouch jobs.

Comments about PowerShot N Digital Camera (Black):

I bought 5 of these to use in a research project involving high framerate, high-dynamic range, capture under CHDK (Canon Hack Development Kit). The CHDK port is very young, but as of a few days ago works even with the 240FPS video mode. Basically, I'm using it as a programmable industrial camera, and the small form factor and touch screen actually make mounting easier. As for people buying these as ordinary hand-held cameras, it's not such a good deal. I've found that most people can't locate the shutter button (it's around the lens) without being shown how it works, and it takes nearly as much effort to figure-out how to hold the camera. The wifi support seems deliberately minimal, perhaps not even as good as an EyeFi SD card in any other camera (the N can't take an EyeFi card; it's microSD). A variety of other aspects all favor the more conventional PowerShots; I'd even recommend the ELPH115IS over this as a pocket camera despite it being about half the cost.In sum, this camera seems intended as a fashion statement more than a camera, but it has high-functioning guts that can be programmed using CHDK and the minimalist packaging fits that type of use. It's actually an excellent camera, but make darn sure you're ok with the strange form before you buy it.

I almost always have a camera with me. The quick start manual had me worried because it sounded like a camera designed for the inept but the full manual on CD revised that opinion. This is a conveniently small camera but it is a full featured camera with an eight to one zoom and fairly good low light capability. From the first it took some very good pictures with it.

Comments about PowerShot N Digital Camera (White):

I would give this camera 5 stars- but the fact the adjusting the zoom and executing the shutter happens most of the time. The shutter release is too sensitive and just giving the zoom a small turn allows you to accidently release the shutter.
There is no way to turn off the manual shutter release. The touch monitor shutter release is far superior than the Nikon's and works really well. And it can be turned off. The zoom accuracy and sharpness is very good. The wireless function works well-but you have to turn off the firewall on the computer to use it. I would reccommend this camera-but not to people with big fingers. I bought it for my wife and it works well for her.

I'm a DSLR guy and my current body is a 5DIII. Amazing camera but not something you keep on you all day every day. The PowerShot N can be clipped to your belt in a case next to your cell. You'll never wish you had a camera when the need arises. Forget about the stills and vids your cell phone takes. No comparison to the quality the tiny Canon N will give you. The controls take a little getting used to but once you do, it's like anything else, becomes easier with use. This is a very versatile camera that does a lot of amazing things. Worth every penny I paid for it. Get a case, an extra battery and a large fast micro SD card and you'll be set to capture all those situations you missed in the past! Enjoy!

Comments about PowerShot N Digital Camera (White):

I bought the PowerShot N a few weeks ago and I'm rather impressed with the quality of the images it produces. Now, I would recommend this camera to friends and colleagues but I do have some reservations. Let me offer those first:

This camera is small and light. It was designed as a substitution for camera-phone photographers and, as I said, the image quality is great. But the Wi-Fi feature hasn't fully developed. I've programmed my camera to connect with my iPhone and my iPad; there are two ways to connect. You can either program the camera to connect over a wireless system or you can use the camera's own little Wi-Fi signal to move photos to the digital platform. What I cannot figure out is how to publish images directly from the camera to Social Media sites including Facebook and Twitter. To be honest, I'm hoping that a firmware update will ease this problem, but you never know.

Other reservations: The flash has a range of about two meters; the zoom ring is kind of awkward to use; and the picture button is actually a ring located on the front of the camera but I found myself using the touch-screen option more frequently.

Now, I purchased this camera because I wanted something small, light and easy to use. This camera has the Digic 5 chip in it, which takes amazing images (the sensor especially loves the color red). It also shoots video and the video images are good but the audio is fair. Also, after shooting a 5-minute video, I noticed that the camera was a little warm.

About the size: The width of this camera is a little bit smaller than the standard width of a bank card. The LCD screen on the back of the camera is excellent AND actually raises up so you can look down on it to take pictures.

Also, this camera uses a MINI-SD card.

I own a Canon 7D and an iPhone 4 and I wanted a camera I could carry with me to take snapshots. My photography buddies call these "drop cameras." I bought this camera because I think most camera-phone images are trashy (and often reduce the battery life of the phone). This camera is really the perfect size. It fits in a tiny camera case that straps to my belt buckle and I wear it like a holster. During these last few weeks, I've found that this arrangement is serving me very well.

Comments about PowerShot N Digital Camera (White):
