The orange Lumix DMC-TS5 Digital Camera from Panasonic is a Wi-Fi enable "tough" compact camera that can shoot both photos and Full HD video on land and underwater. A 16.1MP High Sensitivity MOS sensor provides high quality imaging and fast autofocus. A Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens offers focal lengths from wide-angle to telephoto at 28-128mm in 35mm format. Full HD 1080p is available at 60 or 30 frames per second with a dedicated one-touch button and built-in stereo microphone. Power O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) compensates for camera shake and offers clear images in low light or when shooting telephoto. Intelligent Auto (iA) Mode is available for simple point and shoot capability and Scene Mode provides predefined adjustments to shoot certain types of scenes (Sunset, Panorama, Night Scenery, etc.) with the ideal camera settings. The camera also features manual exposure control, time-lapse shooting and continuous burst shooting up to 10 frames per second at full resolution.

A 3.0" TFT LCD screen with 460k-dot resolution and anti-reflective coating provides composition and playback viewing. The TS5's compact and "grippable" design with raised buttons makes one hand shooting and adjustments easy. One touch video, Wi-Fi and playback buttons are ideal for the type of activity this camera is meant to document.

Built-in Wi-Fi enables you to send images to your smart phone or tablet with one touch. The TS5 also offers Near Field Communication (NFC) to connect with a compatible Wi-Fi device by simply tapping the two together. The Lumix Remote app must be downloaded to your smart phone or tablet to wirelessly connect with the TS5, but the app also allows your phone to be used as a remote control for your camera and offers cloud storage for your images, which can be important when shooting in locations where getting to your computer may be difficult. Built-in GPS functionality allows for geo-tagging of your images.

The tough features of the TS5 allow it to go pretty much anywhere your adventures take you. It is waterproof to a depth of 39' (12 m), shockproof from a drop height of 6.5' (2 m), freeze proof to a temperature of 14ºF (-10ºC) and pressure resistant to 220 lbs. It also offers anti-fog protection for its lens.

16.1MP Sensor and Venus Engine Image Processor
A new 16.1MP high sensitivity MOS Sensor offers high quality imaging even in low light conditions and the Venus Engine Image Processor provides fast performance in extreme conditions.
Leica DC Vario-Elmar Lens
A 4.6x optical zoom lens provides 35mm focal length equivalents of 28-128mm which ranges from wide-angle to telephoto. This incorporates most shooting situations and a 9.3x Intelligent Zoom will reach even further if needed. The maximum aperture at the wide-angle end is f/3.3. The lens is designed from 10 elements in 8 groups and includes 5 aspherical lenses and 1 extra-low dispersion lens for sharp images and reduced aberrations.
Waterproof and Tough Features
The TS5 is waterproof to a depth of 39' (12 m), shockproof from a drop height of 6.5' (2 m), freeze proof to a temperature of 14ºF (-10ºC) and pressure resistant to 220 lbs. It is also dustproof/sand proof and features anti-fog glass in its lens.
Full HD 1080 Video with Dedicated Button
Full HD 1080 video recording at 60 or 30 frames per second in the AVCHD format and a stereo microphone allow you to shoot high quality movies on land or underwater. A dedicated button switches you immediately into video mode and both Intelligent Auto (iA) and POWER Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S) is available for video.
Wi-Fi Connectivity
With the Lumix Remote app installed on your smart phone or device, the TS5 provides one-touch connection to Wi-Fi with Near Field Communication (NFC). This allows for remote picture capture, quick upload, cloud storage and easy sharing.
3.0" LCD Display
Composition and playback are viewed with a 3.0" TFT Screen LCD display with 460,000 pixel resolution. It provides 100% field of view and offers Power Monitor Mode and AUTO Power Monitor Mode. An anti-reflective coating is applied to the screen for easier viewing in direct sunlight, this is particularly useful when using the camera while skiing or at the beach.
Optical Image Stabilization
POWER O.I.S, in both photo and video modes, compensates the effects of handshake even when using the high powered zoom. This will provide you with clearer images in low light and when shooting at telephoto lengths.
Aspect Ratios
The TS5 can shoot in four distinct aspect ratios, each with various resolution levels. Its native ratio is 4:3, but it also shoots in 3:2, 16:9 and 1:1.
Underwater Mode
The new underwater red color reproduction feature allows you to capture the colors of the underwater world, as it is seen, eliminating dull, grey colors often associated with underwater pictures.
Built-in GPS
The enhanced GPS functionality allows you to automatically record your location and view the map and associated photos directly on your camera.

I bought this camera for a diving vacation. While I had to leave it on the boat for deep dives, it worked great on shallow dives. I did a lot of research before purchasing. It seemed I had to choose between price, waterproof depth, and image quality. I didn't want to spend more than $ on a camera for diving, and I didn't want a camera that could go down 180 ft, but only get me pics with poor image quality. After discussing it over with a B&H employee who's also a diver, I decided to go with the Lumix TS5 over the Nikon AW110 . She said she loves Nikon, but that she just hadnt been happy with the image quality on Nikons for underwater photography. The Nikon does get you a few feet deeper, but a 5 foot difference doesnt really matter if the pictures are poor.I got some truly great shots below and above water. The battery just made it through 2 1-hour dives per charge. I'd highly recommend this camera for this price point. I have purchased 6 of these cameras or at least the prior generations for the last 3 years for work. Overall the cameras have held up ok. Slow response time. Used one of them underwater in the BVIs this summer 2 times and it died. One unit keeps showing a battery problem when they work fine in other cameras.
I can get by all of that as we take a lot of photos for our business.
What I can't get past is poor customer support. This is their most expensive point and shoot model and supposed to be water and dustproof. So the sensor on a 2 month old unit got dust on it, I sent it out under warranty. The service dept never contacted me for status, update or options. After finally wanting to know the status and sitting on hold for longer than I care, someone in customer support attempted to check and they couldn't determine the status but assure d me someone would call me back as it was not "escalated". Also after 2 calls I was asked to participate in a customer service survey, ha never received a call. So today I called again since I never heard from anybody, glad it was escalated, sat on hold for another half hour, then transferred to another half hour hold and told it is swapped out for a refurbished one and snarkliy told they don't guarantee the color and only swap out and don't replace with a new one. I should have read the warranty. When I asked to talk to a customer relations person as I wanted to talk to someone that might want to retain a customer the customer support person wasn't interested. I also let her know I was looking at getting a mirrorless Panasonic camera and she could care less, her job was to get me off the phone. Needless to say Panasonic has lost a customer and will never purchase one of their products again. Back to Nikon and Canon. It amazes me how poorly these representatives are at listening to customers and having any interest in retaining customers.

I bought this camera right before heading off to a vacation in Mexico, and I am super happy I did so.This camera is very easy and intuitive to use. The underwater video was amazing for our snorkeling adventures. The normal video took crisp and fluid videos of the performances we watched.I highly recommend getting a floating wrist strap to keep from losing the camera.Overall, the camera is great and the salespeople were super helpful.I caught this camera on sale for $, but the orange one was still $ which I found odd.Awesome camera!

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS5 Digital Camera (Silver):

I bought this for my not-too-tech savy husband, who was able to adapt and produce great picutes from the first day out. While he has not yet submerged this camera (yet...) he's been able to take sharply focused images with the zoom from a moving kayak, and I know it's shockproof -- he's clipped it to his vest and banged around with no problems. The only small complaint is that the lens is not in center like his old camera, but he is getting used to the change readily enough.

Picture are nice of course there is a tough camera with better picture quality above ground but it does not takes great pictures under water as good as the Panasonic. There are is a camera that takes better pictures under water but the zoom and land pictures are not as crisp. Overall it is the best all around tough camera.

Sometimes it's not feasible to haul big DSLR equipment so I got this as a "pocket camera"; it's quality is way beyond my expectations; the Leica lens is phenomenal and the water proof aspect, enabling you to shoot still and video under water makes it very unique. High quality equipment and results for a very fair price! Highly recommend!

I bought the luminix so I could have a camera to take to the beach and water parks and not worry about damaging it. It takes good underwater pictures and remote shooting is cool. What I don't like about it is the interface and support. It took me an hour to figure out how to format my card. I still can't get the videos off it. Their website told me how to do things on an older model with a different interface.

Received the camera promptly from the retailer. Packed well for protection during shipping. Instructional book and CD are both easy to understand. Basic point and shoot can be accomplished by only setting up time, date, etc. and start shooting. Camera menu very easy to learn and use. The viewer window is large and the picture quality is excellent. I have used the camera in outdoor environment while fishing, boating, etc. Have not had a chance to take it underwater yet but waterproof integrity is good while rinsing off the camera. Gotta get in the water soon! I am happy with this rugged little camera.

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS5 Digital Camera (Orange):

Bought this camera to use on my upcoming trip to visit my brother in Wyoming. I recently used it to take pictures at my grandson's graduation. It took great pictures, clear and sharp. The controls are simple to use. I am going to use this camera a lot both indoors and out. I have had no problems with the camera.

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS5 Digital Camera (Orange):

I bought this to use as a second camera next to my dslr when I need something light and waterproof to carry around. So far I've been very pleased. The image quality is average point and shoot quality, but the sturdiness and usability is great. Even the wifi that have been reviewed as tricky works great and the camera is able upload images directly in to my network harddrive. As a downside I'd say the battery life, if you expect dslr like battery life and limited manual settings (but at least it has some, compared to some other alternatives)

Comments about Lumix DMC-TS5 Digital Camera (Blue):

I have been using this camera for a couple weeks now. As all the online reviews attest, the image quality is not a strong suit... This is a tough camera, and it will take a beating.

I am primarily a DSLR user, so I knew the images would never match up to what I am used to. It's acceptable quality for what I want it for.

                    Good:
                    - Colors are bright and poppy, but not overexposed.
                    - Macro mode works very well with excellent definition at close ranges.
                    - Intervalometer!! This function is a rarity even in more high-end cameras
                    - Video is incredibly smooth
                    - The panorama was another feature I wanted, and it works very well with my tests

                    Not so good:
It's true that the images are not stellar. I personally believe it has something to do with the hydro-phobic lens design. It's a compromise, but it's worth it to know you're going to have better pictures than a smart phone when you're on vacation.

Really a great little camera. I normally shoot with nothing but Canon (point and shoot), Mark 5d III, and a 7D. Wanted to get a newer camera that would be convenient to carry along and I am truly impressed with this camera and the creative features.

So far, I am very happy with this new camera. I do a lot of hiking and outdoor actives. Canyoneering, Four Wheeling, . . . I wanted a small camera that is easy to carry and use and also can get wet. I often have to hike or swim to get through the canyon. Therefore, I needed something that can get wet. The Lumix TS5 meets all my needs for a small camera.

After doing a great deal of research I chose this Panasonic DMC-TS5. My primary interest was with underwater pictures. After taking 5 shots the camera died.

I was on a month long vacation on the Mexican Caribbean with no underwater camera!

To add insult to injury Panasonic was going to make me pay for shipping the camera to them! What a joke, I only had it for 5 weeks.

It took up a good 3 hours of my time dealing with them. After making enough noise they contacted my three days later and agreed to pay the shipping.
