The NatureView Cam HD Max Trail Camera with Color LCD from Bushnell is a trail / wildlife camera with an 8MP CMOS image sensor. Capture images and video from a remote location, rather than while physically holding the camera, in order to get close-up footage of animals. The Cam HD is equipped with a 2.4" Color LCD monitor. Two close focus lenses, offering minimum focus distances of 9.8" and 18.1", enable you to capture clear depth of field in your images--even when wildlife gets really close. The camera contains an Auto PIR (passive infrared) sensor that's motion-activated to a distance of 60' (18.3 m). Thanks to its Hyper NightVision technology, the camera's flash, composed of 32 no-glow LEDs, also has an effective range of 60' (18.3 m).

Capture still images and 60 sec clips of Full HD 1080p video with sound. You can even set the camera to shoot both at the same time--in full resolution--in Hybrid Capture Mode. Day, Night and 24HR exposure modes optimize camera settings for the best photo and video capture based on the time of day. Field Scan 2x time-lapse technology automatically captures images at preset intervals of your choice, for stitching together into videos. The Moon Phase stamp feature links the current date to the phase of the moon on that date and imprints an icon on your photo. The GPS Geotag lets you automatically embed coordinates to make game tracking and camera placement simpler. Additionally, the NatureView Cam HD is configured with a USB port and includes a USB cable for connection to a computer.

8MP Resolution
Has a CMOS image sensor with a resolution of 8MP
PIR Motion Sensor
Motion-activated up to a range of 60', the PIR (passive infrared) sensor detects the changes in temperature that occur when subjects move and captures images in response. You can set it to Auto mode to have sensitivity automatically regulated based on temperature, or you can adjust the sensitivity to Low, Medium or High
LCD
Equipped with a 2.4" Color LCD monitor
Lenses
Two close focus lenses with minimum focus distances of 9.8" and 18.1" let you capture clear depth of field in your images--even when wildlife gets really close
No-Glow Black LEDs
The Hyper Night Vision flash's 32 LEDs are completely invisible to game and other hunters. This means wildlife won't be scared off and also makes the camera effective as a security surveillance device
Multi Flash Mode
Allows you to adjust flash power for various setups, in order to conserve battery power
Full HD Movie Recording
Capture clips of Full HD 1920x1080p video with sound. Clip length is programmable from 1 sec to 60 sec
Hybrid Capture Mode
Allows you to shoot Full HD video and full-resolution still images simultaneously, each time the camera is triggered
Field Scan 2x Time Lapse Technology
Automatically snaps images at preset intervals of 1 min to 1 hr, within the hours of your choice. Monitor game movement at dusk, dawn, and every time slot in between. Time-lapse mode gives you the widest viewing window, since it's not motion-activated by wildlife. However, when animals move in-frame, the live motion-activated trigger will capture images of them at the same time as the time-lapse images
Freeze Frame Shutter
The camera's night vision capability enables it to use faster shutter speeds than would otherwise be possible in darkness--allowing it to freeze motion
Date and Temperature Stamp
Puts an imprint of the date and temperature on each photo at the time of capture. This can help you track change over time, or figure out which animals are more active than others at different periods and in colder or warmer conditions
Moon Phase Stamp
Links the current date to the phase of the moon on that date, storing the data on an internal memory chip, and imprints an icon on your photo at the time of capture. This can help you determine if particular animals are inactive at night when a full or nearly full moon is present--making them more visible to predators. Additionally, if nighttime photos appear darker or lighter in the background, Moon Phase helps you determine whether that is due to the brightness of the moon
GPS Geotagging
You can automatically embed GPS coordinates to make it easier to track game and decide exactly where to place the camera to get the best images
Wide-Screen Format
In addition to the 4:3 aspect ratio, 16:9 is now available for wide-screen images and video

Comments about Bushnell NatureView Cam HD Max Trail Camera with Color LCD:

I originally purchased this camera for tracking the opossums and raccoons that live and pass through our yard. As this is the primary purpose for this product, I give 4 stars. I have experimented with other uses as well and would then give it a 3 star rating, primarily for day time applications require uniform lighting conditions to avoid bright or dark contrasted images. Knowing this, the camera can be deployed on a tripod to capture birthday or other events. Don't expect it to replace a dslr for taking pictures, as I only expect to keep a sampling of images taken that capture particular moments with a different vantage point. I also am experimenting with highway time-lapse, having it mounted in my car. Again, a fun application for the camera but a struggle for varying lighting.

Comments about Bushnell NatureView Cam HD Max Trail Camera with Color LCD:

I bought two of these cameras. This trail camera model is far superior to the one I bought in 2012. For starters, the sensor is void of dead pixels and the day video quality is full HD versus 720p in the previous model. Night photos and videos are not the best I have seen but they are acceptable. I also like the fact that there are 2 closeup lenses provided. You use them if you want to place the camera closer to your subject. The reason for the 3 stars is that in video mode, the field of view is noticeably narrower than in photo mode. I would have much preferred the field of view to be the same regardless of video or photo mode. Another thing that could be improved is the security feature of the camera. The two plastic hooks at the back of the camera for you to secure the camera to a tree is rather filmsy. I much preferr the security design of Reconyx cameras.

Comments about Bushnell NatureView Cam HD Max Trail Camera with Color LCD:

The day videos are fantastic. I have used the closeup lens for my bird feeder and have some great videos and pictures. I use Tenergy rechargable batteries and they last a long time. The night videos are not the best and need more light but for a black flash that animals cant see this is what you get. You can get a flash extender for night time. The day HD videos and pictures are where this shines. Dont buy the cheap made bear box that opens from the top. Real bad design. Better ones out there.

Comments about Bushnell NatureView Cam HD Max Trail Camera with Color LCD:

Will use for night time wildlife recording. As all black light infrared cameras, humans can't see the infrared light source but wildlife does as is the case with this camera. Am disappointed that rechargeable batteries are not recommended and it didn't advertise this fact before purchase. The night time HD video is quite grainy and has poor resolution. And the stills aren't much better. Daytime video & stills are quite good.
Door closure locks are positioned near the back and hard to access if mounted flush against a tree. Strap guides in back can get caught on the inside of the bear safe if mounted with screws to the tree. Very tight fit.
Bear safe closes from top - hard to wedge down the angle for adjustments.
