Comments about Acer Aspire One AOD270-1375 10.1" Netbook Computer (Espresso Black):

This is a great little Netbook, cedar trail atom chip performs well, however you won't be seeing any intense games on this machine due to the integrated graphics which I don't mind since this computer is primarily for school work. The only problem I ran into is the very little RAM it comes pre installed with, if you do more than just light web browsing, I'd recommend a RAM upgrade. Other than that I found no other flaw in it. The battery life is beyond what I was expecting, so far I've been getting up to 10 hours of use with medium brightness and wifi. Though this may not be a powerhouse it still gets work done.

Comments about Acer Aspire One AOD270-1375 10.1" Netbook Computer (Espresso Black):

I bought this netbook to take it with me on a backpacking trip around the world. I wanted something light and cheap, but reliable. I thought about getting a Chromebook, but the reviews were terrible. So far the Acer D270-1375 has been behaving neatly, it is not too heavy. It's good for web browsing. I does need a 2GB of RAM upgrade, the 1GB is not enough.

Comments about Acer Aspire One AOD270-1375 10.1" Netbook Computer (Espresso Black):

I selected this little netbook for the specs, size and price. I needed something that was easy to carry about, would allow me to create documents, use the internet, surf the web, and control a digital camera's shutter.

After researching other options within the same price range on up to $400, there really wasn't any other options with either comparable or better specs than this with Windows 7. After reading a lot of reviews about Win 8 and laptops, it ruled out 8 as what I would need.

The on-board memory that is included is a little light. I did upgrade the RAM to the netbook's max of 2 GB. Before I upgraded the RAM I did try it out and found that the machine worked, but not well. After the upgrade, the speed increase immensely, videos (youtube & hulu) streamed easily, and installing programs from my tower computer was quicker.

Here are the small downsides that I ran into. If you do not know how to install programs from either an external ROM drive or by creating ISO files, this may not be something that you want to use other than for internet based application. Also, the amount of garbage programs that are loaded onto this little guy is staggering. There was a huge difference between the off the shelf configuration and after I un-installed the useless programs. Once those useless programs were taken off, the startup time was reduced and operations became smoother.

The mouse pad definitely needs to be configured in the control panel. The default settings allow for two finger control. Due to the size of the pad, it causes the mouse to do really strange things like open web links without wanting to or dragging items unintentionally Once corrected, this goes away.

Overall if you configure this little guy, the major downsides go away. The battery life is listed as 6 hours, but using the default power settings, I have gotten between 6 - 7 hours reliably (battery recharge time is a little slow). The 10" screen is just the right size. The keyboard is just a little bit small for me (I have large hands), but there isn't a single key that is in a location that doesn't make senses (unlike other laptops).

Personally I would buy this again since I can optimize the netbook to perform beyond what it does off the shelf to meet my needs. If you want something for internet, email, and lite video use, this will work for you. I still would upgrade the RAM if you can. This is NOT a gaming laptop by any senses of the word.

Comments about Acer Aspire One AOD270-1375 10.1" Netbook Computer (Espresso Black):

Very useful, portable and convenient netbook. EXCELLENT battery life (easily over 6 hrs) Only problem is the 1GB RAM. But, we upgraded it to 2GB, and now it runs like a charm. Windows 7 netbooks are dying...Get one before they run out. Windows 8 netbooks are expensive...and although Google' Chrome netbooks are cheaper, many Windows programs do NOT work on Chrome netbooks...so we chose to stick with Windows 7 netbook. Overall quite happy with this product.. B&H's price and shipping were great..

For those who need only basic internet and word processing - ; look no further. The WiFi feature allows me to connect to complete web and email services at any wifi spot anywhere. Only drawback is that you'll need an external DVD/CD drive to load additional programs but that's OK. Unless you need professional software, there's so much software available as a download that this shouldn't be a problem for most. Otherwise, an external disc drive won't kill the bank.

      Upgrade it to 2GB RAM

Comments about Acer Aspire One AOD270-1375 10.1" Netbook Computer (Espresso Black):

The netbook still has its place as a low-cost system, even in this age of tablets and ultrabooks, and the Acer is one of the better made ones. However, 1GB of RAM constantly forces the system to swap to disk, even when running nothing other than Windows 7 itself. A 2GB RAM upgrade provides a huge boost in performance for this netbook, and is highly recommended.

Unfortunately, as Acer has not included an easily removable bottom door, you have to remove the keyboard to undo the screws to release the door, so be aware of what this might do to your warranty/return privileges once you start opening up the netbook. 3 stars because of the poor door design and insufficient RAM.

That having been said, once you do that, it is a decent and useable netbook.

Comments about Acer Aspire One AOD270-1375 10.1" Netbook Computer (Espresso Black):

I bought this primarily for note-taking and school work and its been fine for that purpose. Of course, having a smaller keyboard has taken some adjustment but that was expected. The only thing that is a bit annoying with this is that it seems a bit slow for surfing the net. I have not yet installed the 2GB memory yet and hope it makes a difference. Another issue seems to be it freezing up often, when I on;y have 2 or 3 programs running at any time. Still, I would have expected faster web browsing with this netbook compared to my main laptop, which is years and years old. On the upside, the small size makes for easy transporting to and from school.
