The ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner from Fujitsu scans at 600 x 600 dpi in color and at 1200 dpi in monochrome. The iX500 can scan 25 pages per minute and can scan 1 and 2-sided documents in a single pass. The integrated 50-sheet automatic document feeder processes large documents in a single step, so you can digitize your documents quickly. Thanks to quality control features such as double-feed detection and a separation roller which minimizes jamming, documents are scanned correctly the first time. Additionally, the scanner's interface provides an easy way to override double-feed detection for documents such as a taped-receipt on an expense report.
The included software suite provides the tools needed to handle your scans efficiently. The scan button can be programmed to export a document directly to a Word, Excel, searchable PDF, or JPEG file. You can also scan directly to cloud services such as Evernote and Google Docs, and scan PDFs and JPEGs directly to Apple and Android smartphones and tablets. The bundled ScanSnap Organizer converts scanned documents to searchable PDFs, embeds custom keywords, and can email it or save it to SharePoint. Additionally, Cardminder Business Card Software lets you scan stacks of business cards and export the contact information to Outlook or Address Book.
Please note that the scanner cannot be used with TWAIN/ISIS in Windows or with TWAIN in Mac OS

After dealing for years with a flat-bed scanner and enduring the challenges of page-by-page scanning, I decided to bite the bullet and explore something with the ability to handle larger volumes of documents and photographs - both vital to my small business in PR and photography. The product worked out of the box with minimal set-up and almost immediately I had a good test....a multi-page legal document that I set into the feed tray, opened the Manager tool in the Dock on my iMac, did some quick set up to select PDF output and let it fire. Things fed through smoothly and with no hiccups. What's great is the ability to do duplex scanning. Choose that option in the menu and the ScanSnap scans both sides of the document and produces an output with everything in sequence....it even straightens mis-aligned pages and automatically eliminates blank pages. Two items of note.....The scanner system includes a plastic sleeve you can insert smaller documents into...such as sales receipts, a series of photos, etc. and that serves as a holder as the material feeds through the scan. It can handle thickenesses like a credit card as long as it doesn't have to flex too much going through. However, with thicker items, like my passport, you still are going to need the flatbed to do the job. Same with bound books and thicker documents unless you can free the pages. My partner operates from a PC platform and while we have tried using a manual USB switch to enable use of the device (one or the other of us at any given time, but not both), we have not yet been able to come up with a smooth system on the PC that works as easily as the Mac. (A software disk is supplied with the scanner and contains PC and Mac drivers.) Overall though, I really like the results....I've been working on a website using lots of pictures and old articles from newspapers and magazines, and the SnapScan does a great job of reducing the time from document to PDF or JPG. Recommended...

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
We use this scanner in my law practice. It is used every day to scan documents as they arrive in the mail. We are an all Apple office and the software that scans directly to file or dropbox has helped organize our office in a much more efficient way. This scanner has worked flawlessly out of the box. It feeds perfectly. The wireless functionality is a bit misleading from the start. I thought that you would be able to scan wirelessly to a computer. This is not how it works. However, It will scan to my iPhone or iPad perfectly. This works just as well because I can easily rename the document and send it to dropbox or wherever I wish right from my phone.
I would definitely recommend this product. I cannot wait to see if they will make a software update or firmware update that will allow wireless scanning directly to a computer. Other than that it is perfect.

Excellent product! We had an older model (Which is still going strong) and just had to have another due to the amazing capabilities. If youre looking for a scanner that you would use often then look no further. Shopped around and this was the better deal! Highly recommend!

This may be the best purchase I ever made!
This tool has made my paper mess a breeze!
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
Makes scanning stacks and stacks of documents just as easy as pie. I once owned a wretched little All-In-One printer (from a once noble but now greatly diminished competitor known for printers) that almost had me convinced that a consumer office product was completely incapable of feeding more than one piece of paper at a time. I wasn't all that excited about the spending so much on just a scanner but the ScanSnap is absolutely worth the money. It delivers exactly as promised. I scan everything now in combination with Evernote and this scanner is just perfect. I hate to gush but it is clear that lots and lots of care went into the design and build of this machine. I almost didn't buy this because I do have a nice flatbed scanner but so glad I did. For real-world scanning this thing is just miles beyond the flatbed. It sits on my desk and I can unfold and scan in a couple of seconds. The flatbed scanner is just so tedious that I tend to never use it, not to mention that the speed of the ScanSnap is faster than I can organize and feed in the documents.

Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
We had a scanner before, but it required us to feed each page and was slow. The ix500 is much nicer! I load it with several pages and it feeds and scans them fast! We have already scanned six months worth of credit card receipts; it can feed the crumbled ones just fine. I scanned my old magazines by slicing them down the binding and dropping them into the scanner. Now they are searchable, and I reclaimed quite a bit of storage space.
It feeds great. It can make searchable PDFs. It works great with the Mac. (We use a Mac Book Air.) We love it.
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
I got this to save a copy of executed docs for my files. It's so convenient, I'm now expanding my ability to work with clients by email (many prefer it). And, now I find I make "scan to print" choices instead of dealing with the copier! Now just have to settle on a system to store scanned docs and then reduce paper even further.
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
We are a small business that is now in the midst of going paperless, thanks to the ix500. This small, sleek machine is extremely easy to use and is fast too! All my scans come out crystal clear, all in all a great product that we are extremely happy with.
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
This is so easy to use and has alot of features I haven't even tried yet.
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
Setup and use is very simple. The only little bit of work you need to do is to set up a few profiles which fit the specifics of your scanning needs. Very quick to process documents after they are scanned. Office manager loves getting receipts on thermal paper that have been scanned before the print disappears! Thick chunk of 3 years worth of credit card receipts all saved in a PDF file with OCR, so every individual receipt can be located easily. Sweet.
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
Great design (looks good on the desktop when not in use), very fast, works very well integrating with Evernote, Dropbox etc. Only used the wifi / mobile app occasionally, but nice to have. Used a 1300 before, which was a good scanner and has the advantage of being portable, but the iX500 is a much better (though more expensive) option if you have a large volume of documents to scan.
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
I bought this scanner to replace another scanner that was driving me crazy because of the slow warm-up time. Most of my scans are just one or two pages and I spent more time waiting for my old scanner to get ready to scan than I did actually scanning documents. The Scan Snap scanner completely solved this problem. There is virtually no warm-up time and the scanner is really fast even when doing double sided scans. I love this scanner.
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
it's the perfect accessory, compact and efficient quite and quick
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
I have been using the iX500 scanner for about 2 months now and I LOVE IT! It is so easy, fast, and convient! I love having Evernote integration. Not a single mis-feed has occurred so far. We have installed an additional 5 units at my office and everyone loves theirs, too!
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
The ScanSnap iX500 really does make it easy to scan and store your receipts, which is the primary reason I bought it in the first place. I was also hopeful that I could use its OCR software to convert some documents to Word files, and others to Excel. This was not the case early on as the cd software was full of bugs. ABBY Finereader eventually fixed the bugs that prevented the OCR from being useful on my Mac, so I'm now enjoying all the benefits I had hoped for. This process took almost 2 months but it was worth it. Customer service was excellent and I received quick email replies each time I sent a question.
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
We bought this simply because we had run out of storage space for old records. At the time of purchase we figured we would start scanning records for the new year and then just continue in the future. The scanner and the software work so well that we have already gone back seven years worth of records. We scan records as a searchable PDF. We can type in a job name, customer name or product name and instantly bring up all related records. It really is amazing. Highly recommend.
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
If you've ever even remotely thought about having a paperless lifestyle (and you should), then this scanner is a no-brainer! Sure, the price tag makes you gasp, but quite honestly, it's worth every penny!
Comments about Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 Wireless Desktop Scanner:
Would highly recommend, very easy to use and operate, bought it used it for a month then noticed both my CPA and lawyer had one in their offices.
