Comments about T-005X Aluminum Tripod with C-10X Ball Head (Red):

Good tripod. Made of good material, easy to use, versatile, and most importantly it is lightweight and portable. I bought this to take on vacation. I have not used it yet but it seems pretty good. With the camera on and at full extension, there was very slight shake but not enough to make the image blurry. This is also given that I did no use a remote and just the shutter button. When the center section is removed, the tripod becomes much much more sturdy. Anyway, I expected all of this already since I was informed at the store when I purchased it.
Overall a great product for a casual photographer. It is lightweight and portable and that was the most important for me.

This tripod is small enough to not knock over things when it is in the case, small enough to fit in a suitcase, and sets up very quickly.

Very good little tripod. Very compact and lightweight. Useful for travel and small lenses. Useful also for indoor photography. Not for use with long, heavy lenses. I would not use it on rugged terrain. Very pretty blue colour!

Comments about T-005X Aluminum Tripod with C-10X Ball Head (Black):

useful for carrying in backpack (or even, large purse if needed). Very compact yet can be expanded to easy eye-high for 5'3'' person. Has flexible options; ballhead operates easily. Like hook below center post to anchor stabilization weight if needed. Not a substitute for heavy duty tripod, but perfect when not possible to lug bulky, heavy gear.

Comments about T-005X Aluminum Tripod with C-10X Ball Head (Red):

I was looking for a lightweight but sturdy and high quality tripod for my u43 gear. I came into the store planning to buy the MeFoto RoadTrip, but in the flesh it was too big and heavy for my needs. The really helpful sales guy in the store pointed me to the Sirui and it's just what I wanted - small and light but very well made and plenty strong enough for my needs. It looks great in red too.

About the only minor gripe is that the camera plate needs either a coin or Allen key to tighten it - a flip-out twist handle would be more convenient. Aside from that, I've no complaints about the tripod and once again B&H gave me great service.

This tripod is the perfect size and weight for convenient travel use. When I require a tripod, the T-005X has adequate strength to hold my Fuji X-e2 steady with the 18-55mm zoom attached. Very good value for the money.

Comments about T-005X Aluminum Tripod with C-10X Ball Head (Black):

I got this for a large SLR and night photography. It doesn't come with a quick release on the head, which is unfortunate. For its size and relatively light weight, it held up a D7000 decently. It shakes easily, so a remote was used. Photos turned out fine. I returned it to get something a little bit more substantial and with a quick release, but other than those gripes, for the price... this is great. Especially for a smaller camera.

Bought it for travel. I currently use a Manfrotto tripod which is way too bulky for travel. So I purchased this one to get around. Folds down small and fits in my camera bag. Best part is it still holds the weight of my camera and lens and my bag can be hung below it for added stability

This tripod folds down to a tiny size and is perfect for travel. It's too lightweight to support a SLR with any but the smallest of lenses, but is perfect for advanced point and shoot cameras. I use it when I travel and don't want to lug along my SLR. I have only one major complaint. The quick release plate that came with the tripod had no rubberized grip, only a slick metal surface on which the camera slid around. I applied my own material, but should not have had to do that.

It's small and light, and it's well made. It holds my full size DSLR with L glass. The head slips a touch sometimes when you're framing up, so you have to compensate for that when you're locking it down. It's great for landscapes and self portraits when your way off the beaten path. Perfect match for when every ounce and dollar count.

Except that I would have liked it best in Metallic Orange!

It weighs more than 2 lbs. with the ball head but folds compactly, making it a good travel tripod for the money. It's tall enough for the average person and stable enough for the average DSLR and lens.

Comments about T-005X Aluminum Tripod with C-10X Ball Head (Blue):

For me, this replaced a 12-year old Bogen/Manfrotto tripod with a micro-fluid head, which weighed 15lbs and went with me only under the express conditions that I KNEW I would use it. It was more for video anyway and I merely used it for photography.

My needs were more evanescent, plus I wanted something to be able to occasionally allow me to put myself in the photo with the self timer. This fits the bill at 2lbs and a max height of almost 5'--it'll probably go with me more often than not when I'm bringing my Panasonic GX1. It can handle very easily the weight of my camera even with the heaviest lenses.

The feature I like best is that you can remove the center column. This makes it rock-steady, especially if you use the included clip with a little bag of rocks.

The functioning of the legs and the ball-head is fantastically smooth, much more than I would have guessed at this price point. All in all, a great deal.

Comments about T-005X Aluminum Tripod with C-10X Ball Head (Black):

This is the second Sirui tripod I own, the other being a carbon-fiber one with a slightly larger ballhead.

This one seems really well-built. I intend to use it mainly while traveling.

Both the tripods are about the same weight, but this one is a few inches shorter so will pack a bit better.

It is easy to set up and seems sturdy for the size and design. (I often 'weigh' down a light tripod like this using a 'bungie' type cord with one end attached to my foot.)

The one small 'feature' that the other ballhead has, but which is not on this one: the other has a button you can push to 'let go' of the mouting plate (which is attached to the camera). On this one you have to loosen the knob which holds the plate in place on the ballhead until there is enough room to take it off -- no big deal really, and something I'm sure I'll get used to easily.

Also, the bag that came with this one is not of much use, except maybe for storage. It has a 'rope' cord which serves both as the bag's closure and also as the 'strap' for carrying, but is too short to use it as a shoulder strap. I intend to use the bag from my other tripod as shoulder bag for this one.

Comments about T-005X Aluminum Tripod with C-10X Ball Head (Black):

I needed a tripod that collapses small enough to take on an airplane in my camera bag and yet is tall and sturdy enough to be useful. The T-005X meets all my requirements. It will never replace my standard tripod but will fill my needs. You have to work within its limitations it is not rock steady but for the size and weight I didn't expect it to be and it will definitely be better than hand-holding. The c-10 ball head holds my Nikon D-300 with the 18-300mm lens (telescoped out) without slipping forward and thats all I'm asking for.

This tripod is exactly as advertised. It's compact enough to fit in a Lowepro Nova 4 bag yet tall enough to cover most situations. One can get their camera pretty low to the ground for macro work as well. Weight is good and overall quality, fit and finish of the product is excellent. The ball head and tripod carries the weight of my Nikon D7000 with various lenses no problem though I have yet to encounter any really windy conditions. Overall I must say if you want lightweight and compact with a decent height and weight rating, this tripod should be a top contender in your decision process....now hurry before the price goes up!

I bought this tripod to use with my video camera especially in concert band or choral concert settings. It feels very solid and the head has a smmoth feel when pivoting the camera. I love that it folds so easily and is compact to carry. It easily handles the weight of my video camera with attached Zoom H4n. Since it is a little bit shorter than I would like in some situations I added a Manfrotto extension that is made for one of their monopods. This gives an extra 6-10 inches, but I would not leave it unattended with this attached as it makes it a little top heavy when using heavy equipment.

Comments about T-005X Aluminum Tripod with C-10X Ball Head (Blue):

The difference between this model (T-005X) and the T-005 is that the center column unscrews on the T-005x giving one the ability to use it just with the legs and get a touch more stability (though less height). This model is also specked at 1.9lbs versus 2.2lbs and sets up about 3 inches higher.

As a photographer I do a lot of exposure bracketing and HDR work. You really need a tripod to get the most out of HDR. I currently use a Vanguard 284CB carbon fiber tripod with a Vanguard SBH-100 ball head. I absolutely LOVE that tripod and though its not really bad to hike with if my main purpose is to take pictures, its not something I want to lug around unless I'm pretty sure I'm going to use it. If I'm hiking with friends, skiing or sight seeing, it is going to stay home or back at the hotel. The Vanguard's center post comes out and folds over so it is not too bad to pack either as it folds to about 20 inches but again unless you are on a photo vacation you really need to decide if you want to pack it or not. I wanted a decent tripod that I could take with me everywhere and not think about it. I tried a Gorillapod but they are just too short for use alone and it really is a pain to try to mount them somewhere in order to get more height. After considerably research it seemed like this tripod would fit the bill.

This tripod is REALLY small and portable. I can't imagine that I will go on vacation without a tripod again. It easily fits in a small backpack and is very light. Now when I hike, sight see, or do a cruise excursion, I'm likely bring the tripod along. The carrying case is also really cool. I don't know if it has the same case as the T-005, as no one as mentioned this, but you can actually wear the case as a mini backpack. It has two heavy cords that make up the carrying case strap. Just make sure the straps pull through so all the cord length is on one side of the case. Pull the little cord keeper to the top then slide a cord over each shoulder. I love this idea. I can just go out with my camera and throw the tripod on my back without carrying an extra backpack. This tripod will be coming with me quite a lot.

So form is fantastic, how about function? Function is great for what it is, a small lightweight travel tripod. I will not be selling my Vanguard! I have a Sony A55 and various lenses. I tried the Sirui with my heaviest lens which is an old 100-400 mm Tamron lens. I think that this lens/camera combination is a bit less than the 8.8 pounds the tripod is rated for but the lens definitely weighs more than the tripod. It worked OK with this set up and did actually hold it fairly stable once locked down. Adjustment was very fussy as the camera would sag a bit after locking in then letting go. I had it aimed at my bird feeder. Normally I take shots this way while moving the camera around to aim at the birds and using the camera shutter release once I have the bird framed the way I want. The tripod's ball head was not great for this style of shooting. With the Vanguard's head, I can get a perfect tension so that I can move the camera fluidly to follow the bird but have the camera stay in place, without locking down, when I let go. I couldn't really find this sweet spot on the Sirui's ball head. When having my hands on the camera I got a lot more vibration and camera movement than with the Vangard. Still the Sirui was better than hand holding the combination and it held that combination quite still (indoors) once locked in if I gave the tripod time to stabilize then used an off camera shutter release. For my smaller camera/lens combinations the tripod provided better adjustment capabilities and better stability. For doing HDR or night photos, using a radio controlled shutter release, this should do an adequate job. It is very light and a strong breeze is likely to cause vibrations but you can also hang some rocks on the bottom of the center column if needed. I'm not in love with the ball head. Compared to my Vanguard SBH-100 it is fussy and hard to adjust. I'm a fan of pistol grips and may try this with a compact Sunpack pistol grip I have though, aesthetically, I hate to take off that pretty matching blue head.

You can also use this as a pseudo monopod. Just fold two of the legs (un-extended) up towards the tripod head, extend the third leg down to use as your monopod leg and extend the top column. Your monopod is not perfectly straight but you do get a bit more stability than just hand holding your camera. Or better still, just put all three legs down, and bring them together at the bottom fully extended. Extend the center column and the tripod really maneuvers just like a monopod as the legs fold in very closely and the tripod is monopod light. Plus, in seconds, you can have it set up as a tripod. It is a touch short but with my Sony A55, I just fold out the live view screen. Benro MeFoto makes a trans-functional tripod that converts to a monopod but it weighs about twice as much, won't fold as compactly and is more expensive. I think you could get away with using this as a mono-pod in a place where a tripod was prohibited particularly with two legs folded up. If you are asked not to use it at least you can put it away easily. I was thinking about the Benro for this function and am glad I bought this smaller lighter one instead.

Bottom line, this is really worth buying if you want a compact light travel tripod that you will not think twice about packing. There are very few choices in truly compact semi full size tripods out there. This one and MeFoto are the main ones I found. I am extremely happy with this Sirui tripod given its purpose. I may even end up using it more than my Vanguard just because it is so easy to carry. However, if you don't have a tripod at all, I would buy a good sturdy full sized tripod first.
