I purchased this for travel and it was my 3rd attempt to get as light yet sturdy tripod for my medium weight DSLR with zoom lens. My first attempt was the MeFoto Road Trip. Excellent also; but at 3.5lbs, I realized I hadn't realized what 3.5lbs actually felt like. I returned that and tried a non-B&H purchase advertised at 2.5lbs. That model was lighter; but still not where I wanted the weight to be. I just received the T-025X by Sirui from B&H and am delighted with its build, range of height, and OK with its weight. Its weight is why I subtracted one star because it is advertised to be 1.5lbs without its case; but I've weighed it on two accurate scales and it weighs in at 1lb, 14.3oz (1.9lbs). This is .4 lbs greater than either the B&H or the Sirui website say it is supposed to weigh. I will live with it as its functionality and sturdiness are excellent; but wish the factory had a more accurate scale. Probably what has happened here is the advertised weight of 1.5lbs is for the tripod without the supplied C-10 head because the weight without the head is 1.45lbs.

I was looking for a lightweight tripod for travel photography. I thought I found a gem when I bought this tripod. It was the smallest (less than 12 inches) and lightest (about 1.5 pounds) tripod I found after about an hour of searching. As a bonus, it was carbon fiber also. If you are looking for a small and light tripod, this guy might meet your needs.

Unfortunately, the first time I really used this tripod in the field was a sunrise shoot at Haleakala crater. I woke up at 3am to make the drive up the mountain. I found my spot and set up my new prize tripod. I was sorely disappointed that the tripod was very unstable. The tripod would shake for about 5 seconds after I pushed the shutter (and I wasn't pushing it THAT hard). Even after turning on a 10 second self-timer, even a small gust of wind would make the camera vibrate. (I shoot with a Nikon D600 and a Tamron 24-70 pro lens, which together weighs about 5 pounds). My old cheapo $35 aluminum tripod was more stable! I even attached my camera backpack to the center column to add weight, and that helped, but that didn't stop the vibrations.

Also, be aware that you have to turn 15 different knobs to set up the tripod (12 on the legs, 1 on the center column, 1 for the camera plate, 1 for the ball head). That meant 30 different turns to set it up (15 to loosen, 15 to tighten). Since I was worried about the twist knobs being too loose, I had to crank each knob pretty tight, leaving my hands somewhat raw and irritated. That's 60 turns to set up and take down. After setting it up at my second shooting spot (90 turns later), I guess I didn't crank down one knob on the leg tight enough. I mounted my camera, turned away and my $3,500 rig fell to the ground and landed on a rock because one knob wasn't tightened enough. I suppose I have no one to blame but myself because I didn't tighten the knob enough, but man, after 90 turns on a mildly cold morning my hands were very raw!

Bottom line: if you want small and light and don't have a heavy camera, this might meet your needs. But because of the instability and the number of knobs to loosen/tighten, I feel I am being generous in giving this 3 stars.

I use this tripod with my Fuji mirrorless system. It is quite sturdy and yet so light I can slide one leg into waist strap of my ThinkTank Turnstyle 10 camera bag and walk around.

Comments about Sirui T-025X Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10 Ball Head:

Looking for a great traveling tripod, I set my sights on this carbon fiber model from Sirui. It comes well packaged, light, and with a decent manual. The construction feels solid (especially the ball head) and it folds up to be quite compact. In use on the field, it holds out quite well to quick and rough manipulation, although the clamping of the camera is far from a good feature. Not only can you only fit the clamp to the camera with an allen key, therefore always needing the tool with you, but the lock/release from the tripod does require quite a few turns on the twisting knob, never sure when it will actually release. A little wobble in the wind and the twisting manipulation of the main center rod are not the most convenient, but all twisting manipulations eventually lock the tubes nice and firmly. Nice overall finish of the tripod, the pouch could be a bit more padded though to avoid damage in transport.

After studying 20 brands, I found this tripod to be the most lightweight on the market and sturdy enough for my OM-D Micro Four Third (m4/3) camera and lenses. The ARCA mount is great to match other accessories.

Comments about Sirui T-025X Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10 Ball Head:

This was my first Sirui product. Along with a leveling head, I use it for video recording with a camcorder. It was so good, I purchased the Sirui S2205N S-N "flat" tripod (see separate review) for use with heavier dslrs, and the Sirui footed monopod. It's difficult to overstate the quality of Sirui products. I believe they easily match the much higher-priced alternatives. Hard to believe this brand hasn't caught fire.

I wanted a not crazy expensive tripod that I can use it for travelling too hence needs to be lightweight and durable. The SA (sorry forgot your name) very helpful by showing me right away to this brand which I never heard before. Light, easy breezy to use from unfold and locking the legs, placing the camera in the ball head, maneuvering it. I like this! Very happy with it!

While the tripod is very light and seems reasonable tall, the center pole is fixed in the up position so that it vibrates in any breeze. When you remove the center pole and attach the head directly to the legs it is very short. I returned it and bought the Sirui T1205X with G10X head. It is slightly heavier and more expensive but well worth it.

Comments about Sirui T-025X Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10 Ball Head:

Sirui's fit and finish is impressive. I am coming from using an old Slik tripod that I bought used and has been beat up over the years (and still works great). I do a lot of traveling and needed a tripod for backpacking as well. A recent "rim-to-rim-to-rim" backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon forced me to get something light, and after months of research on the forums I ended up with the T-025X. I am glad I made the purchase, the unit is very well made with quality materials and works as expected. It's a sub 2 lb. tripod that folds down to under 12 inches, so it obviously won't be as sturdy as a full-size, heavy tripod we are all used to. The only thing I wish it offered was more adjustment options for the leg angulation -- I feel the legs are either too wide apart or too close together. If there were some "in between" adjustment settings it would have gotten 5 stars. Great unit for those backpacking and wanting to save weight. Used it with a Canon 6D and 24 mm f/1.4.

Very light and stable for my needs: Fuju X-E1 with Fuji prime lenses. Easy to set up and it fits amost anywhere when folded. I use it with the included ball head, which I don't think would support prsoperly a heavier camera like a Nikon D610. But I could be wrong.

Comments about Sirui T-025X Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10 Ball Head:

I wanted a light weight small tripod I could easily fit in my backback that would support my D7100 and a 16-85. This tripod is super light and packs very small. I thought it would be stable because it is rated for a load of 13.2lb. I found this tripod to be wobbly and not suitable enough for my needs. It would move a lot in light winds and I was worried it would fall over if lightly bumped. There are a few problems with this tripod in my opinion. The main problem is the footprint is too narrow and tubes too small diameter. The T-1205X is a little beefier option or the Velbon 43D II is also better. Also I didn't like that there was no true quick release. You have to unscrew the plate from the head to remove the camera. On the up side you can attach weights to the center column to made it more stable.

I would have liked a tilt-pan head option.
The bracket clamp mechanism would have benefited from a more positive quick release mechanism. I nearly lost the camera when I didn't notice that it wasn't fully seated in the clamp before I tightened the screw mechanism.

Comments about Sirui T-025X Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10 Ball Head:

Comments about Sirui T-025X Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10 Ball Head:

I bought this tripod to use it with my ILC camera (Panasonic GX1) and can´t be more satisfied with my purchase.
Extremely compact and light, yet surprisingly stable.
It folds / unfolds easy and very quick, and you can tell its quality and finished details.
Center column is removable (main difference vs T-25 model) and while it can not be inverted I don´t miss that feature.
The ball head that comes with it does a good job, although the plate system used is not my favorite (sliding plate with a fixing bolt on one side). I´m used to snap-on plates on Manfrotto tripods and this system is significantly slower to mount and dismount. The plate screws to the camera with a standard screw, which is not a big deal but again I miss a folding ring that would make the process easier (nothing you can´t solve with a Quarter in your pocket).
In all good investment if you are looking for ultra-compact, light weight, top quality tripod. Sturdy and solid enough to hold most compact / ICL cameras. Great tripod.

I was concerned about this tripod's ability to handle my D7100, grip and 18-300 mm lens. It is very stable with the legs extended 3/4 of their range and the center column at about midway. I would be confident using this tripod at full extension with a lighter camera/lens combination. I use my camera bag as a counterweight for stability, but the bag's weight is mostly on the ground.

This tripod is so small, light, and compact, and yet so strong! Perfect for travel and now I think everyday use.

I was looking for a small lightweight tripod for travel and this one fits the bill. Easy to setup for low shots or high, this thing can then be broken down and hidden in your camera bag. At 1.5 pounds, you don't even know its there. The only things its missing is a bubble level on the included ball head.
