The angled view Regal M2 65ED Spotting Scope from Celestron combines a high-transmission optical path with a nitrogen-filled magnesium alloy housing to deliver reliable imaging performance at low light and in unforgiving weather conditions. At the core of the Regal M2 are fully multicoated optics, including BaK-4 prisms and an extra low dispersion (ED) glass objective that minimizes chromatic aberration and maximizes light gathering. Multiple layers of Celestron's proprietary XLT coating on each lens preserve brightness and transmit contrast-rich images to the eyepiece.

This version of the Regal M2 spotting scope includes a 16-48x eyepiece that is ideal for intermediate to long-range glassing. The broad magnification range, comfortable 20mm eye relief, and twist-up rubber eyecup make this zoom eyepiece well-suited for long-duration observations. The scope's standard 1.25" eyepiece mount will accept most astronomy eyepieces, which enables a near-infinite number of optical configurations.

Complementing the image quality and weather-sealed construction of the Regal M2, several features enhance the scope's functionality and observer's user-experience. An included T-adapter ring permits DSLR camera mounting to the objective assembly, transforming the 65ED into a high-transmission digiscoping platform. The rotating tripod collar has a 1/4" mounting socket and is detented at multiple positions to provide the observer with alternate viewing orientations. A sliding sunshade, sighting aid, and dual-focus mechanism equip the Regal M2 with the functionality needed for a wide range of outdoor glassing applications.

Comments about Celestron Regal M2 65ED Spotting Scope with 16-48x Eyepiece (Angled Viewing):

I use this scope to view the sky, along with birds and other wildlife. 'm hoping to attach my DSLR to it to shoot some closeups of birds and other animals. The magnification is better than I expected, and the tripod that came with it works well.

Comments about Celestron Regal M2 65ED Spotting Scope with 16-48x Eyepiece (Angled Viewing):

I have only been able to use this scope once but took it out birdwatching to a local wildlife preserve. We were able to spot Bald Eagles that were across a pond and once we got the scope trained on them, the viewing was spectacular. We could not make out details with our 8 x 32 or 8 x 42 binoculars but got very crisp images with the scope and could see all details of the birds.

I mostly used the scope at the low magnification but did run it up and down the zoom and was impressed by the image quality. As expected, at higher magnifications the viewing field grew quite narrow and small and it was somewhat difficult to decide where to position the subject matter at the low magnification and have it remain in the viewing field when zooming. I do not have a very good tripod (yet) so some of the difficulty we had positioning was due to that and also vibration from the breeze was a bit noticeable but not a deterrent to the viewing.

I would buy this product again. It is a great entry level spotting scope and I am happy with the Celestron brand. I have been familiar with Celestron for 45 years as a friend had an old Celestron reflector telescope when we were in middle and high school. Quality in the optics and the construction is still present in this day in age.
