When speed, convenience and space concerns are of paramount importance the Sirui P-424X Carbon Fiber Monopod is a worthy stand-in for a tripod. Whether you're shooting sports, wildlife or family gatherings, mobility and stability make the difference between good shots and bad.

The unique design that makes the P-424X stand out in the crowd of available monopods is the three-foot fold-down support feature. Besides the added stability of a larger footprint, the feet solve a multitude of problems encountered by image makers using a standard leg in snow, ice, sand and turf scenarios. The legs are attached to the feet by a type of ball head that allows you to pan 360 degrees or tilt up to 15 degrees in any direction. If you need maximum stability you can even stand on the sturdy feet while shooting. The P-424X comes with a carrying case and tools for adjusting the tension on the ball head. A 3/8" and 1/4"-20 reversible camera screw is provided.

The P-424X has three sturdy fold-down support feet that provide stability of a tripod with the convenience of a monopod

Comments about Sirui P-424X Carbon Fiber Monopod:

My husband and I have been using large and small footed monopods from Manfrotto for the past few years. We support camcorders on them in places where a tripod just wouldn't work (in boats, in safari vehicles, on foot following wildlife on the move, etc). I own 2 Sirui tripods for use with both dslr's and video cameras. I'm so impressed with the quality of the Sirui products, that when a section on our large footed monopod broke, it seemed worthwhile giving the Sirui version a try.

It's great. The monopod is light yet substantial. The feet are larger than on the Manfrotto, making it more stable. Of course, the larger feet may make it more difficult to use the Sirui in tight spots, but we haven't had a problem so far. I'm also totally confident mounting my Nikon D800 with ballhead and long lens on this monopod.

Sirui is one of the best kept secrets in camera support.

Comments about Sirui P-424X Carbon Fiber Monopod:

Used this monopod at a youth soccer game. Results were great. Monopod was very light so no hassle carrying it around. Tried it with D4 and 70-200mm. It ensured steady stills and smooth video. Legs on bottom worked well. Video pan was smooth. Video shots looked great. All in all, a good piece of gear for sporting events.

Comments about Sirui P-424X Carbon Fiber Monopod:

Phenomenal "Tri-Monopod"! I bought this monopod to replace an older broken one (different manufacturer) for mostly still photography; yet I do see the potential for some amazing videography by utilizing the panning and tilt features of this rock-solid "beast". The label on the box says it all: "Sirui P424 X Professional (video) Monopod". Along with my two professional DSLR bodies, and two super telephoto zoom lenses; this is the best piece of professional piece of equipment that I own. In a word, this monopod "rocks". It is very sturdy and solid. Surprisingly, it was able to support the weight of my camera fitted with the longer of the telezooms on its three small fold-down feet at the base without tipping over! I immediately put this monopod to the test by shooting studio portraits of some friends. Normally, I would use my tripod for studio work; but the Sirui P-424X fits the bill quite nicely. I also like the weight (a whopping 15kg.) capacity and the height (over 1.75m) extension. The twisting adjustment mechanism took some getting used to since all my previous monopods and tripods involved a lever-clamping mechanism – no major inconvenience; especially when this twisting mechanism is beyond outstanding (large ergodynamic rubber grips turn easily and locks securely). The only minor "con" is that the release buttons for the fold-down feet are sometimes hard to press. Without hesitation, I would strongly recommend the Sirui P-424X to a friend.

Comments about Sirui P-424X Carbon Fiber Monopod:

this is a lot better than lugging my tripod around. It gives me a lot of support since I don't have good balance, and I can comfortably put my 500mm. lens on without worrying about it falling. I am tall and this monop0d is tall enough. I also love the ball on the base which allows me good ROM. I would definitely recommend this one.

Comments about Sirui P-424X Carbon Fiber Monopod:

This is a very heavy duty monopod. Well built with massive diameter carbon fiber column. What attracted me to this model are the fold out legs. There are places and times where a full tripod is not allowed or practical so this is a great alternative. The base near the fold-out legs has a ball similar to a ball head so the column can stay straight even when the ground is uneven. At it's tightest adjustment, it still may not support a heavy camera/lens with the tripod feet without some balancing from a person but that's a situation dependent thing. Overall this a great monopod and the tripod legs are very sturdy and can withstand a persons foot standing on them to add stability. The weight overall is perhaps more than I had anticipated but when you see the build quality, you will understand why. It's the best tripod alternative that I have seen and it will be a standard part of my field equipment. Now there is no place off limits to a stable shot.

Comments about Sirui P-424X Carbon Fiber Monopod:

used with my D800 and 200/400mm lens. Even though the unit is light weight very happy with the steadiness and support of the Sirui. The quality and construction is outstanding. The quick adjustment feature works well and was a pleasant surprise. This will now take the place of my tripod for many situations.
