Comments about Toshiba 23L1350U 23" Class 1080p LED TV:

I purchased this to place next to a similarly sized 1920 x 1080 Dell ST2220L computer monitor on my desk. I have this Toshiba 23L1350U connected to the DVI port on an old Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT card. A StarTech HDMI/DVI adapter dongle converts the DVI port to an HDMI port without audio, since DVI has only video.

As stated in the user's manual, using the computer VGA input on this TV doesn't allow full 1920 x 1080 resolution.

DualView mode on the Nvidia video card is the best. It operates each monitor independently so that viewing a YouTube video full screen will only fill one monitor and not expand across both monitors.

Having more space to view more than one window at once is great. Being able to watch free over-the-air TV with an antenna is the "icing on the cake". I just caught Superbowl LVIII coverage, and I'll bet some Sochi Olympics coverage will come in too. I can also watch late night talk shows. Did you know Jimmy Fallon is replacing Jay Leno?

Pressing the tiny "CH RTN" button on the remote switches between the last two channels or a channel and the computer video feed.

It is difficult to adjust so that colors appear exactly the same on both my Dell monitor and this Toshiba. Each video setting should be examined and adjusted to get the best looking image. After adjusting, text clarity was good and compares well with the Dell monitor. The video and sound settings are saved independently for the TV tuner and the different cable inputs, so it's "set and forget" for these adjustments.

Input lag is negligable. The best computer monitors today have 10mS input lag and the best TVs including this one have about 30mS input lag. There is a website that lists input lag for computer monitors and TVs. A "game" video input on this TV will have some video processing disabled to minimize input lag.

Video lags the stereo RCA audio outputs, and the TV remote will not adjust the volume on those RCA outputs. It would have been nice to connect an old stereo I have to the RCAs for better sound, but bad lip-sync really bothers me. There is a lip-sync correction adjustment on modern AV receivers that would fix that.

There is no "reverse audio over HDMI" from this TV. One more cable will connect this TV's digital audio output to an AV receiver with a digital audio input.

HDMI-CEC works nicely so that turning on my bluray player automatically turns on this TV and switches it to that input. I can control everything I need on the bluray player with this TV's remote. The remote commands go through the TV's infrared sensor and are sent to the bluray player through the HDMI cable.

Sometimes pressing the smallest buttons on the remote doesn't register because the rubber button doesn't squeeze down into the center sweet spot. The bigger buttons work well for me.

For some reason the favorite channel memory was corrupted once. Add favorite channels in the reverse order you want them to appear left to right. Press and hold FAV to add or '-' to delete.

I usually skip the favorites feature and punch in the channel number and then press enter if I'm in a hurry. The enter button is far away from the digits so it's awkward.

Using the up and down arrows on the remote changes from the favorites list to a similar list for the various inputs. Be careful, after a delay the TV will switch to the highlighted selection in a list if you don't press "exit". These lists can be enabled or disabled individually.

A menu option must be selected to use the RCA composite video/stereo sound input. The composite video connection is shared with the one of the component video connections.

      Good TV, odd behavior

Comments about Toshiba 23L1350U 23" Class 1080p LED TV:

Used in the office for news/background noise during grunt work. Good picture, good sound, compared to predecessor 19" Toshiba, but changing channels is annoyingly sluggish - can be a real PITA.
