I needed a tripod for a location shoot. I was looking for something inexpensive and lightweight. This little guy looked too good to be true but I went for it.
There was no note as to the weight capacity and that is what I was most worried about.
The tripod has pros and cons.
Pros-folds up tiny and comes with a carrying case. It is lightweight and extends to 7 feet.
Cons-Not incredibly durable looking. I think I will have to use it carefully if I want it to last.
For reference - I did use this tripod with a MKII with 24-70 lens. I was nervous about the weight but it held up just fine.

I've had this tripod since May 2014. I've heard a saying, "buy good, buy once." In my case I will buy again sometime in the future.

Here are the "functional challenges" I face:
    1) for the left and right rotation of the tripod, when I turn the locking screw to lock the it place the trip pod creeps left or right. It reduces my speed of execution as I need to point slightly off to one side so when I lock down, hopefully the camera will end up pointing where I want it to. Or I have to drag the legs of the tripod to refine the camera position. 2) Vertical articulating arm: my camera and lens weight 3.5 pounds (or 1.6 kg) (18mm-300mm Nikon lens. The vertical arm moves. I have to super, super, super torque down the lock to keep the vertical arm from slowly, slowly, slowly moving. If I have a long exposure, I have to be very careful. 4) camera attachment plate - 4a) when I shoot in portrait orientation, I face the same problem I do with the vertical arm lock. The camera slowly turns on the plate. 4b) the camera attachment plate between the plate and the tripod is a quick release system. When I lock the camera plate into the tripod, the connection is loose. The camera stays on, so there is no danger of the camera disconnecting from the tripod on its own. Simply, there are a few millimeters of movement when the plate is locked into position. 5) carrying case: as reported in other post, the pull tab and zipper slider comes off. The problem is the zipper does not have a top or bottom stop. So if you pull too far in either direction, the zipper slider and tab come off.

    Solutions
I have some mechanical aptitude and have tried resolving all these problems on my own.

I fixed the zipper once. The second time I could not. I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me a new bag. As for the rest of the problems, the manufacture asked me to send the tripod to them and they will "look at it to see if they can repair it." My fear is any back and forth shipping I do at my cost will out weight the benefit. The manufacturer did not volunteer to cover the cost of shipping. I would rather apply that expense to a future purchase of a different product.

As for my recommendation, I bought on faith. I guess the title "Professional Heavy Duty Tripod" refers to everything below the head and vertical arm. I haven't had a problem with the legs of the tripod! And for the price, well I've adapted to the quality of the product.

One thing I will note is that my lens (Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens) is a compact lens and does not have a tripod collar. So the camera body bears all the workload when mounted on anything (tripod, monopod, camera bracket). Meaning the weight of the camera is not centered when mounted on anything.

In closing, I would speculate, if you use a short, lightweight lens, you may not face some of the problems I face.

Comments about XIT Elite Series 80" Professional Heavy Duty Tripod:

Okay so i bought this because a was desperate and needed a tripod asap with limited funds after my last one died from being in the ocean to much. All the comments about the quick release plate is 100% true and when i put my d700 with 70-300 the head does creep forward a little.. the Legs are pretty solid and heave for the price and it is perfect working height for me without even extending the middle section and im 6'2".. that is what i do really love about the tripod.. Being im pretty hard on my tripod i only expect it to last about a year. Ok now back to the head issue. I quickly found out the head was useless and had a ball head from my old tripod and put it on. It now is perfect for my needs. moral of the story by this tripod only if you plan on buying a better head for it..

Comments about XIT Elite Series 80" Professional Heavy Duty Tripod:

all the things that was mentioned here correct. the quick release plate loose (has movement) when connected to camera even when all the bolts and screws are tight. this is a problem you notice when the wind blow. if you record video or time lapse or long exposure YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT IT!
          another thing is:
I'm a wildlife videographer. and need the tripod for steady camera shooting. but the 1st time the tripod fell the screw that connect the center column to the tripod head broke and I couldn't reconnect the head again or to replace the screw.
when I Email Xit (this is what I found on the Xit site under "support" :We at Xit group are committed to providing you with reliable and utmost quality in customer assistance. We always keep in mind that your satisfaction is our measure of excellence. Our experienced Customer Assistance Associates, we'll guarantee immediate and sound responses to your every inquiry. ) they reply that there no warranty on tripod falls and there no way to repair the tripod or replace the screw or the canter column.
I said that I'm not looking for anything for free. just want to be able to use my new tripod as it ment to be used and advertised..
they reply that it is cheap so I should buy a new one.
I will buy a new one but it won't be Xit.

Comments about XIT Elite Series 80" Professional Heavy Duty Tripod:

NEGATIVE OBSERVATIONS: Quick release plate - 1) loose (has movement) when locked into position 2) when connected to camera and camera in portrait orientation camera slides / creeps /moves between camera and plate. Tripod pan tilt head - 1)vertical arm moves or creeps when locked into position. I have to use a lot of muscle to tighten it into place so it does not creep (note my camera and lens weights 3.5 lbs.) 2)horizontal arm lock causes movement when locking into place. This is problematic when using a long telephoto lens. POSITIVE OBSERVATIONS: center column can be inverted for very low to the ground photography, vertical arm has hook to attach a sand bag (weight) for unstable conditions, good height, legs spread very wide for stability (note this will shorten the maximum height). FINAL NOTE: my lens does not have a tripod collar so all the weight when mounted is on one side of the quick release plate (weight not centered on tripod).

Flexible and functional, it does all I expected from the web information. I like it a lot. Because I will use it for night, lightening and wildlife shots, it will give me the solid base I desire with the range of motion I need.

After taking it out of the bag for the second time, the bag zipper sewing unraveled and the carrying strap fell off. The tripod plate also jiggles meaning that the fit isn't exact. All of my timelaps shots are now useless since the wind was able to blow the camera plate slightly. I thought I would be avoiding all the junk construction by buying the upper end of the cheap tripods but my 14 dollar one works way better than this one.

This is the worst tripod I have ever purchased. Within a month of purchase, it has become pretty much unusable. Fell apart in multiple places.

one rubber leg came off, but that is a easy fix with any 10 sec. glue. I am tall guy 6.4ft - with that tripod I do not need to bend anymore :) but this comes at the cost of weight though.

I bought this tripod because I needed a taller tripod on a budget for my photography hobby. This fit the bill. I used it in fairly high winds and it remained stable. The only gripe is that I had a hard time getting the head to stay level--could just be a learning curve, though. Overall, I would recommend it to someone like myself.

I purchased this for its hight. I used a 5 pound camera on it with no problem which was my camera 2 and was stable for a shot over a group of people in a seminar. If you are looking for a tall, stable, tripod under a hundred dollars this will work fine. I like that it is portable and light and fit in my tripod bag with a couple of light stands too.
