The PocketWizard Plus X Transceiver is a versatile radio trigger that features a wealth of functionality within a simple-to-use and intuitive design. This transceiver offers 10 standard channels from which to use, and navigation between these channels is easily controlled by a backlit channel dial. These 10 channels are fully backward-compatible with all other PocketWizard radios and PocketWizard-enabled devices for maximum efficiency with existing radio setups. Contributing to its functional abilities, the Plus X also features intelligent Auto-Sensing technology, which allows the device to instantly fluctuate between transmitter and receiver duties. Auto-relay is also supported in order to promote a completely remote workflow.

The Plus X design revolves around an internal antenna and side-profile design that contribute to overall durability and a streamlined appearance. This minimal design aesthetic is also benefitted by the simplified connection strategies that allow the radio to be fully functional when attached to a camera's hot shoe, without any cabled connections required. For attaching to remotes and external lights, a 3.5mm miniphone socket is available and three cables are included to offer an array of popular connection types.

10 Standard Channels
The Plus X features 10 standard channels for use to provide greater availability when working amongst other photographers or for greater control over complex lighting situations. These channels are compatible with all other PocketWizard of the same frequency.
Backlit Channel Dial and Status Indicator
An analog dial is used to quickly and easily switch between the 10 available channels. A full-time amber backlight is used to illuminate the selected channel for convenience and greater visibility when working in dimly-lit conditions. A tri-color LED is also incorporated into the design and provides a visual means for gauging the Plus X battery life when it is sending or receiving a transmission.
Internal Antenna
The internal antenna provides greater durability and eliminates the possibility or bending or breaking it during use. It also produces a more streamlined appearance when in use, and corresponds well to the side-profile design to create an overall visually unobtrusive look.
Simplified Connectivity
The transceiver is easily attached to most cameras through the hot shoe, with no extraneous cables required. For attaching to remotes and lights, there is an all-in-one sync port for wide compatibility. Cables are included for attaching from miniphone-to-miniphone, miniphone-to-phono, and miniphone-to-PC sync for cameras without a hot shoe. It is also compatible with all PocketWizard transmitters and receivers (of the same frequency) as well as PocketWizard-enabled lighting and metering equipment.
Auto-Sensing Transceiver
The Plus X is automatically set to intelligently and instantly switch between transmitter and receiver modes for the greatest amount of flexibility. You can also manually override this function and choose to have it act as a dedicated transmitter only, which will cancel its ability to receive or relay signals.
Auto-Relay Mode
When using three PocketWizard radios, you can remotely trigger a camera to fire and trigger a flash simultaneously. Utilizing the Auto-Sensing technology, the transceiver mounted to the camera can instantly receive a signal from an auxiliary transceiver, and then instantly convey the transmission to a remote flash. This provides a simple and highly efficient remote workflow.
Range and Sync Speed
When used in ideal conditions, this transceiver is capable of producing and receiving a signal up to 1600' away. It supports sync speeds up to 1/250 sec. with focal plane shutters and 1/500 sec. with leaf shutters with a maximum triggering speed up to 14.5fps.

For a long time I've been trying to save up for PocketWizards, and as many already know of the Pocket Wizard to have such an elite reputation , fortunately the brains behind Pocket Wizard decided to create an affordable device, the Plus X transceiver that wont cost you an arm or a leg. From the little conveniences of rubber test buttons buttons, to having the option of up to 10 channels to work with, the PocketWizard Plus X is very simple to use, and can affordably be found in B&H's store for less[$] I highly recommend this to anyone looking to get into off camera flash photography, or and have been in the same predicament as me.

I use the product to trigger speedlites in manual mode, also when just triggering a master and letting the infrared wireless from the master trigger the slaves.

The Plus X could not be easier to use, but the build quality does not seem solid enough for me at that price.

Comments about PocketWizard Plus X Transceiver:

I was going to buy a Pocketwizard Flex TT5 but as soon as I found out it only has ettl and no manual wireless control of the flash besides exposure compensation, I rather just save the money. This item is a perfect alternative. I use it along with PocketWizard HSFM3 Flash Sync Cable to trigger my Canon 430ex II.

Comments about PocketWizard Plus X Transceiver:

I've been a Studio photographer for decades, and my last PocketWizard PLUS lasted about 17 years. The receiver finally bit the dust... These two new Plus X units are exactly the utility that I expect from PocketWizard. Nice small design, reliable, great price, and simple to use. The ten channels means at large rental studios worldwide I won't be effected by the photographer in the next studio over...

B & H is one of my most trusted photography site with usual great service. Pocket Wizard is the probably the best line of transmitters. The Plus 10 is great for a series of lights working in sync.

The Plus X is an excellent compromise in cost vs. performance and the reliability of PW. I work in a very rural area so the need for more than 10 channels is not really a priority. These units work well and the price is right. I could not be more pleased.

What can I say? it works. Every time. What else can I say? I guess if you pay more, you can get more channels? More range? I haven't needed it.

One thing is that I can't wrap my head around why this item costs what it does, when really it's not alot better than a TV remote. Except that it works every time.

I bought this transceiver to replace a pocket wizard receiver that had finally bit the dust after years of service. It couples flawlessly with my pocket wizard transmitter and fires my strobes every time. There are ten channels. The first four sync up with the four channels on the older transmitter. The rebate from pocket wizard however, is a hassle of submitting a picture of the box and a receipt copy on line or by mail. All for a $[$]rebate in the form of a debit card I have yet to get. Just knock ten bucks off the price of the unit and be done with it.

Comments about PocketWizard Plus X Transceiver:

I've been using Plus II Transceivers for several years for high volume event photography without incident. I recently needed to add to my collection and decided to try these. While I never had a problem with the previous model, I am impressed with the built quality and the addition of 6 more channels to use. I was also impressed to find cables included in the box. These are the gold standard in remote flash, strobe and camera triggers.

I use my Pocket Wizards when shooting indoors or in my studio with strobes. I was getting by using 3 between 3 lights and the camera but needed one more so I wasn't restricted with two lights splitting one. They work great and I have never had an issue.

Comments about PocketWizard Plus X Transceiver:

I bought three cheep TTL triggers made in Hong Kong. They had lots of features and channels and groups and lights and buttons. The TTL and most of the advanced features NEVER worked even with one of their speedlights and I was always pressing a wrong button somewhere. I am perfectly capable of complicating things on my own, I don't need my equipment helping with that. The manual was poorly translated into English and indecipherable. Customer/tech support sucked in English and Chinese.

                                      Enter the PocketWizard Plus X!

The most complicated thing on these triggers is the on/off switch (up for on & down for off). The channel selector is impossible to change by accident and the test/fire button is large, positive and conveniently placed. The range is incredible, listed at 1600 feet. I would be happy with 1/10th that. Build quality is rock solid and they just work...every time! This might not seem like a big feature, they fire from my light meter, but on location with multiple lights trying to get ratios correct, it IS a BIG feature. They were a little more money, but you get what you pay for. There is good reason why PocketWizards are the pro's choice.

Comments about PocketWizard Plus X Transceiver:

Radio links for studio flash photography are pretty much required for multiple flash setups. The PocketWizard Plus X is a solid unit with a very easy user interface. Plug into the flash, set the channel and turn it on. The unit is highly reliable and handles both transmit and receive functions and can trigger a shutter or a flash. My only complaint was the build quality of the plastic casing. It seemed a little cheap compared to older Pocket Wizard units I have. Also why don't they incorporate the attachment functionality of the "caddy" that is currently an add on from a 3rd party company.
