Comments about Boston Acoustics TVee Model 25 Soundbar & Wireless Subwoofer:
Back in the old days, I had a 5.1 home theater with separate receiver and all the wires, etc. I couldn't stand figuring out how to hide everything and not have people trip over the wires, etc. In the end, I got rid of it and haven't had a audio system since.About a year ago a the deals on large 50"+ tv's were too good to ignore so I upgraded and that with my Bluray player has been awesome for movies. Recently, I decided I wanted to match the screen with movie theater audio but didn't want the wires, the calibration, the setup, the programming, the anything.I looked at the Bose Solo but it was $400, never on sale, and didn't even have a subwoofer. I found this model on sale at B&H.It was originally $350 and comes from a top brand in audio. It' super simple design. Even uses your current remote. One optical cable to plug into your TV output. The sound is awesome, definitely like $350 sound for less. One caveat, the programming the remote doesn't work well. I couldn't get it to work right for a long time until I took off the screen and held the buttons. Very badly implemented, luckily if you program once you never have to do it again. One video I saw about programming your TV remote that faulted the speaker for using the volume up/down botton on a Samsung TV and always had "function not found" come up on the screen b/c the external speaker was enabled ...very annoying...has a work around. I use my Bluray players remote as a universal and programmed the volume up/down button on that and that has worked great...once I got the programming to work. Very bad design, hard to hold buttons, color changes of button to indicate mode is aweful, only an engineer would think of.
