I have used the jib for several shoots now. Some complaints I have read about from others about the unit being flimsy are not accurate. You are going to get a slight flex in the arms with the camera and counterbalance weight, but it's dead weight straight down. I did some shooting with my new Canon 70D as well as with my Canon XF100. Neither tops out at the maximum weight scale. I had an old set of Bogen (Manfrotto) sticks that worked fine, and I used some extra sandbags for stability with some outdoor shots on irregular ground.

Action was smooth. Wind is an issue when shooting, but I can only assume that's the case with any jib.

I followed the recommendation of the manufacturer not to over exaggerate any movement. I really liked the effects I got.

The bag that is included is too small, but may be right sized if you are hoofing it to a site. I used pea gravel in the counterbalance rather than sand, as sand and cameras do not mix.

I found that for me, the unit performs well.

The product looks great online, but after receiving it and using it in person, it is built cheaply and in my opinion, isn't worth $[$]. It works fine with small rigs, it's compact, and the fluid head is nice, but I don't see using it for a long period of time because the screw locks seem like they will fail. My suggestions would be to have it built in the USA and not China.

I got this as a 'gift' for an upcoming production.
It looks nice, but was not steady enough to be used with any of my camera.
I would have used it with smaller cameras though.

I've had this jib for just under a year now and it's really neat. It's compact, light-weight and it really expands the capabilities of DSLR filmmaking. I only had one little bit of trouble with one of the bolts attached to the jib pole, but the inventor and founder of this company personally helped me sort it out. It's one thing to have a good product, it's another thing to have great customer service. I'm impressed, this jib is well worth the money if you're looking for something easy, quick and efficient.

It feels great, and aside a little wobble with big cameras, works just as expected. Price is a bit too high for my taste.

I think it is a great tool if your have a very small DSLR, or a Lumix GH3 not very usefull for heavier DSLRs and camera/lens combos

Some of the hardware could be a higher grade (to be sturdier) without making it too heavy, otherwise good design and great for the price.

Comments about Aviator Travel Jib - Mag Alloy:

I'd been meaning to but this jib for awhile and finally got the money to get it. I used it on several video shoots and all the shots look great. It's relatively easy to set up and tear down, but I did need someone to hold the weight bag on one end while I checked the camera now and then, so it's not exactly ideal for one person filming. Also, the pivot where the jib cranes has some cheap metal on it that literally shed as I pivoted the jib, which made craning the jib not as smooth; on top of that, the shots are not perfectly smooth as some videos show, but I may be using it wrong.

Comments about Aviator Travel Jib - Mag Alloy:

I'm going to be using this boom for some in-house video work. I was surprised at how compact and light it is, which is great for location work. However, it is not rated to hold much weight. My Canon 5d Mk III and 24-105 with battery grip - and a 7" video monitor - pretty well max out the weight limit. That will work for me, but obviously I don't have the option of using a larger lens unless I remove the battery grip and/or monitor. I found that the boom arm can twist a bit when loaded with the camera, so that I have to watch that the camera stays level. That's my reason for listing "Poor performance" as a con. The movement, however, is nice and smooth, both up and down and side to side (i.e. panning). All things considered, I think it's a good value for the money and great for those wanting to travel light.

My only complaint is that sometimes there is a slight wobble at the base if not balanced just right.

Slight issue with the head piece, I couldn't get the bolt in because the threads came messed up. I may need to get it machined so I can get the bolt in.

Also seems barely strong enough to hold my 7D with my 24-105, major curvature on the rods LOL.

The compact design really surprised me which is a huge plus

I have used this jib on several shoots and overall really like it. It is easy to travel with. Easy to set up. And increases the production value to your production. It is not a full on 'production jib' like you'd see at a concert of large scale production. If you are looking for a jib to easily travel with, this may be exactly what you're looking for.

Comments about Aviator Travel Jib - Mag Alloy:

This is a great lightweight, quick setup jib. I couldn't believe how small it packed up and how light it actually was. However, the jib was at its brink to support my setup. I was only using a t3i, but with a metal cage, monitor and follow focus. With this rig the jib had a slight bend to it and really seemed to be straining. Also, the hanging counter balance bag can add sway to your moves if panning. Great jib for very lightweight setup however I have decided to go for the new Kessler pocket jib traveler with a 10lbs weight capacity.
