Big time wow. I wish everything I've purchased for my photography and filmmaking needs had the kind of value this piece of equipment has. I originally purchased it because it looked like a great compromise of weight and stability for long time exposure photos I take when camping in the desert, and that it certainly is. It's heavier than the carbon fibre version, but I wanted that extra pound and a half or whatever it is, so I don't mind packing it. But the big surprise came when I thought to take off the ball head and throw on a cheap but decent fluid head for video (I used the Fancier FT-717AH, it's what most people get for their sliders). With this combo, I can easily support my C100 with a 17-55 lens on it, and it's totally stable. I can put the camera in a backpack, put the tripod/fluid head combo in the underseat storage of my Vespa, and go anywhere in town with a pretty amazing little setup. I don't think I'd rig it up with rails and lots of other gear, but why would I... I've got a heavy duty setup for that. In short, the build quality of this is really satisfying, and it's going to get used a lot for both photo and video. I don't see how it could be any better without moving to a similar Gitzo at 2 or 3 times the price, and I'm not sure you'd get that much better of a tripod. Forget the "comparable" Manfroto. For a little over $[$], this is one of the best made objects I own.

This tripod is great for such a light weight, portable tripod. If you are looking for a basic photo or time lapse tripod, then this is a great option!
However, if you are in need of something for any video, I would not recommend this item. The head does not give you enough fluid to pan or tilt correctly. Also, there is no pan-handle so this makes it difficult to do any type of move.
Overall, this is great for being convenient, but if you are buying for video, then look past this series.

Really really well built, strong, stable, lightweight and compact. Great for travel. I used hiking with my 5d mark iii and a 70-200mm 2.8 and it worked perfectly! Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Comments about GlobeTrotter Travel Tripod Kit (Titanium):

I was extremly surprised how strong the pan locks are. You don't have to use a lot of strength to tighten the pan locks, might not be such a good example, but I think a 3 year old can tighten the pan locks and the camera stays in place. I took this tripod for a mini vacation to the coast and took pictures with a timer because I dislike having to stop a stranger, because I want to be in the picture, and ask them to take a picture of us. I love the portability, stability, and the height. The weight is light for its height and the construction is very good.

Comments about GlobeTrotter Travel Tripod Kit (Titanium):

This is a great little tripod that fold up to a very small and portable size. I was especially attracted to the 26.4lb weight capacity as I use two of these to hold a Kessler Krane Shuttle Pod Mini slider with a Sony FS100 and various large lenses. It remarkably stable.

            I only have 2 issues:

            1) I wish the quick release plate was bigger so it's more stable with larger equipment on it. It should also have a small pin to avoid rotation.

            2) It would be nice if the legs had more than 2 lock locations so it's just that little bit more versatile. The 1st setting does not get the legs quite wide enough when the legs are retracted for it to be completely stable.

These are minor niggles though, and overall this is a great tripod and I'm very happy with the purchase!

Comments about GlobeTrotter Travel Tripod Kit (Black):

I was looking for a tripod that was easier to carry around, to commute on the subways with, but not too bulky. I am 6'2" tall, so I went with the GlobeTrotter as opposed to the RoadTripper, as it gave me a little more height. Using this to hold up a Canon 60D with a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 lens, and it does it very well.

The tripod folds up small, and easily is carried in the included case. Very easy to setup and collapse. Very happy with this investment, the camera is held steady, able to capture 30sec and longer exposure with no shake so far.

Comments about GlobeTrotter Travel Tripod Kit (Titanium):

This was an add on purchase to a Nikon 70-200 lens. This tripod is very solid and all clips and moving parts very well made. It's plenty strong enough to support the weight of the 70-200mm. I especially love that it converts to a very sturdy monopod.

I purchased the GlobeTrotter for travel photography and for use with my short lenses that do not have a tripod ring. Fit nicely in a carry on bag. I was skeptical about this unit based on its price but am very happy with the build quality and flexibility. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quality tripod with Arca Swiss style ballhead for travel or hiking. This unit also can be used as a monopod for sports photography.

Good travel tripod. Folds up small and comes with a handy case with strap. I take it on photographic hikes. Sets up reasonably fast, is sturdy. Comes with a hook at the base of the center pole to hang your bag if you need a bit more stability.

Comments about GlobeTrotter Travel Tripod Kit (Titanium):

I really love just about everything about this tripod from its limber-yet-sturdy legs to its agile-yet-tight-locking ball head. I was looking for one that has twist-to-tighten legs (vs. the clamps), has a highly-rated head that could be positioned in just about any way that I might need, can be converted to a monopod, and allows me to flip the bar that holds the head around so it hangs upside down. This does all of that and then some. Of course the legs that can be positioned in any angle and the hook for adding weight (my camera bag) are also huge bonuses. I was also pleasantly surprised at how small the carrying case is for this tripod. And did I mention it's rated to 26+ lbs? The only thing I'd like to see changed would be for the metal spikes that come as an accessory to the feet to be built right in as retractable, as they are on my monopod by Sirui.

Versatile, compact, solid tripod and head combination. A little heavy but a necessary compromise when packing less expensive aluminum and a heavy lens.

This is by far the best tripod/monopod I've purchased for travel!
Its easy to use, lightweight and even came with the spiked feet to use in dirt sand sand conditions.
I thought it would be more of a pain for the monopod conversion but its not.
This is one of the most well thought out products Ive seen in a long time!

Great travel tripod. Solid enough to support a 5D with a 70-200 and compact enough to fit in a backpack or carry-on suitcase. If you want lightweight order the more expensive one and save about a pound. Comes with a nice case.

Selected this pod primarily for hiking applications when the Gitzo was simply too heavy. A well engineered compact form factor, mini ball head, and detachable monopod option. A very stylish look as well…even comes with a very useable carry bag with shoulder strap. Very pleased with this purchase. I find no complaints with this model…just wish I had the coins for the carbon fiber version which is even lighter for the trail.

Comments about GlobeTrotter Travel Tripod Kit (Black):

This is a great tripod. It is a bit on the heavy side but it is very steady and will hold a very large lens and gimbal set up.
