I bought these for my daughter who goes through earbuds as fast as we can buy them. She finally decided to try these headphones and now she can tune us out completely! While these are not noise cancelling, she rarely hears us unless we raise our voices. The plug and cords appear sturdier than the earbud style and they have held up to daily use. She loves them and I loved that they were not expensive!

Comments about HA-S400-B On-Ear Headphones (White):

In all honesty, I bought this item to temporarily replace my Beatz Pro Audio headphones, so I wasn't expecting much out of it. However, giving the price, these are pretty good. Sounds crisp, feels great and they're good for movies and backup headphones. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Comments about HA-S400-B On-Ear Headphones (Black):

Needed a second pair of phones for my laptop. I didn't want to have to keep grabbing my other phones from the studio all the time. I had purchased a cheap pair of JVCs at a local store and they were pretty good and I liked the specs on these, however when dealing with the frequency response of phones, mics, and speakers, I like to see the frequency response on a rectangular graph showing all the dips and peaks. these seem relatively flat 20-15khz, like I could hear 15k anymore.
Here's the down side to these phones. They are not for the big headed. As Bullwinkle would say I take a 7 and a half. If you do have a big head, these phones will be tight. Adjustment is limited. There is no way to "stretch" them without breaking them. Learned this the hard way with another set a few years ago.
Also Short cord. this is typical of JVC phones. Having a mini male to mini female extension is a must. I have had extensions of different length for many for many years now.
Tight to the head does mean that you will get all of the sound. Basically a good set of headphones.

Great headphones for the price, sound is just right with a decent amount of base. However they do make your ears sweat and can get uncomfortable after a while, but I don't mind. I usually use them on my walk to and from the bus stop and at school.

Comments about HA-S400-B On-Ear Headphones (White):

I bought these for my girlfriend based on reviews for a good sounding cheap headphone. The bass these things put out is impressive. Its deep, tight, undistorted and extended. My eyeballs actually shook on the low low bass note in "Dear God, Sincerely M.O.F.".

She is really happy with them. She doesnt know I stuffed them with cotton to suck up some bass and pull the highs up. they would need more modding for my tastes. For my ears, I think they are a bit thick sounding. I prefer a flat sound with a tad of boost in the bass and highs. these are full and meaty from 20hz to 300hz but really lack in the high and mid-high areas. Even after 20 hours of burn-in (yes I know its a farce). From the reading on headfi it looks like a few simple mods can flatten them out if thats your thing. Boosting the highs in EQ really made these come alive. These are a super value!
