I primarily use the Stealthy with my Sony HDR Handycam HDR CX and my Sony NEX 6 and have even tried it with one of my small point and shoot cams. All of these cameras weigh under 2.5 pounds

What is great about this product is the flexibility it offers when I am out using it leisurely. It supports all of these cameras well and makes the handling much easier in hand held options. I do use the tripod feature on a table to shoot some video I bought the extra long monopod and glad that I did as I use it much more than I had expected.

It is a stout little piece of hardware and I was pleased with the build. I don't use a heavy camera but I can say it works well with the ones I listed under 3 pounds.

I think its great and does a lot but I wish it had included a case.

Works well in all areas advertised for my 5D Mark II EXCEPT for steadicam mode. Unfortunately, I bought this for steadicam use and in that respect, the Stealthy fails. Look elsewhere if you have a Mark II or a camera of equal weight and want to do smooth tracking shots. This won't work. The Mark II is simply too heavy and if you pay attention, the product demo always uses a small camera with no EVF, audio mixers or attached accessories. Though the 5D with lens is under the 5lb limit Varizoom states is the max capacity, it's still too heavy.

When I tried to balance the Mark II - just the body, mind you - it took all the counterweights I had. Attaching the lens made it even heavier. Despite attaching an additional counterweight I purchased, the camera still wasn't balanced. The system was wobbly and unsuited for any steadicam use. Not to mention the tremendous weight and pressure placed on your wrist when you hold it (you're supposed to maneuver with one hand but that's not feasible). Forget attaching any accessory or EVF.

Though everything else works, the steadicam issues make this a non-starter.

Comments about VariZoom Stealthy Camera Support:

I bought this Varizoom stealthy because I read a lot of good things about it, but trying it I felt very disappointed. I bought it mostly because it has steadycam capacities, but It is very difficult to balance it properly with my video camera (canon XF 100) even using the extra weight kit. When people use the extra weight kit the 3 point camera support isn't very convenient anymore. In fact I regret I bought it but as I got it sent to France, and I paid twice its price because of the taxes and the transport, I prefer to keep it hoping one day it will be of some use on a much smaller camera. Don't buy that support if your camera weight around or more than one kilo !

Incredibly versatile. Does everything I want to do except replace a full size tripod.

Hangs on your hip or even fits in the wifes purse perfect for field photo and video and a must for vacations and school sports. No reason to ever take my camera off the Stealthy.

Comments about VariZoom Stealthy Camera Support:

Construction could be better for a +[$] attachment. I have the 50mm 1/8 lens on my Canon 60D and I had to buy the extra weight attachment so it would be properly leveled. Keep in mind this lens is very light. If you're using any of the stock zoom lens, you will definitely need even more weight. Balancing the camera is very easy as it has front to back, side to side adjustments. The only draw back is that you have to take it off (and screw up your balance) if you want to put it on a tripod or another stand.

Shoot photos and videos on vacations and kids events.

Handy as it does so many things I need to do. convenient to carry on hip (much better than neck strap or case)

Long monopod also easy to keep with you.

Sits on tables everywhere i go and works like a tripod on tables.

Always ready to go on hip.

Stabilizer when you want to chase kids and stay smooth

No negatives I cant believe something so well made (all metal) is so inexpensive.

The stealthy is nice once you work with it and figure it out. If you have a DSLR I'd recommend getting additional weights to counterbalance especially if you have a bigger lens and want to use stabilizer mode. All other features are simple to use.

Comments about VariZoom Stealthy Camera Support:

Mixed emotions about this support, because of the way it balances the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera. The Panasonic Lumix zoom OIS lens, 12mm-35mm, is an excellent lens for the BMPCC, but the lens is flush with the bottom of the camera, meaning that the Stealthy base plate touches the focus and zoom rings when mounted for the best balance. To overcome this, the camera needs to mounted on the end of the plate and put in backwards, so to speak. This cause the balance to be ultra time-consuming and very annoying in trying to use the gimbal. (I was never able to get it to be useable, because the BMPCC was so far back on the plate, it caused a clockwise or counterclockwise rotation.)

The versatility of the mount, however, is remarkable in the "3-point" mode and handheld mode (without gimbal).

For some reason, Stealthy does not provide a convenient way to mount it on a tripod. It would be nice to use it on a pod and be able to just quick release it. I figured a way around the problem, but again, it was time-consuming and a little clumsy of a solution (required buying a plate riser from eyeDirect).

Monopod configuration is so poor compared with the good construction of the Stealthy that I am surprised Varizoom offers it.

I found the steadiest use of handheld to be the Stealthy on the Steddiepod (a competing monopod), but since Stealthy does not easily let you connect to another tripod, I had to use the plate riser from eyeDirect to make the connection.

Don't get the extra weights for the monopod configuration. It is not worth it.

The Stealthy not only works as a stablizer but has other functions that other stablizers do not offer and within the same price range. It did not take very long to get the balance correct and my second time testing it out, i was already running and getting stable footage. I am very pleased with this product, and after extensive research online with other products and prices, I am extremley happy with my choice and highly recommend the Varizoom Stealthy.

Comments about VariZoom Stealthy Camera Support:

While the individual aspects seem great at first glance, the actual handling of the equipment with a camera attached (60D+lens) is unwieldy. It's difficult to balance and I found that it needs a lot of counterweight. I understand that using it takes practice, but I never felt like the product gave the sense of physical support and operator ease that I'd hoped or expected.

Going from one mode of support to another is not trivial, nor is each mode without it's own specific issues. This was compounded by the very poor instructions, which are not thorough enough at all (e.g., no examples of typical problems/issues and how to address them).

Telling the buyer that there's no way to learn how the gimbaled stabilizer is set-up without the buyer going online and watching a video is a clue to the many things not covered in the instructions. (The online video itself is not nearly as thorough as it could be - it breezily glosses over details normally found in an instruction manual - more of a quick demo if anything).

Ultimately, I felt that if I'd purchased this item with a smaller handyCam or a lighter DSLR in mind, my experience would be different - but for any mid to large DSLR with a decent lens, the camera rests unsteadily and doesn't gain steadiness without a lot of fuss, all of which is undone when another mode is employed. It is a support built to be light rather than sturdy.

In my opinion it was designed to address 5 functions for a light camera. For my needs, some of those functions (specifically - chest support) it does fairly well, while others (specifically - gimbaled support, the reason for my purchase) not well.

Comments about VariZoom Stealthy Camera Support:

I'm usually skeptical of jack-of-all-trade type tools but the Stealthy has broken the mold for me. I've used this with both my Panasonic HDC-HS900 and my AG-HMC40 and it works well with both of them. Naturally, things get a little heavy with the HMC40 since you have to add the extra weights to properly balance it but it isn't that bad. One thing I wasn't looking forward to was trying to properly balance the camera for stabilizing but it was surprisingly easy. I've been able to quickly set the Stealthy up for stabilization mode for both cameras in a short amount of time with very little fine tuning. I have a cheapy stabilizer I bought[*] that I have yet to get properly balanced so the Stealthy is a godsend!Switching between modes is quick and painless. I find myself using every mode on every shoot. Having the belt hook is just as described . . . it's much better to have a camera on the hook than on a strap around your neck. Just be careful not to walk your camera into obstacles by not remembering it's on your belt!My only negative for the Stealthy is that one of the tightening screws for the main swing out piece isn't protected . . . by which I mean that it is possible to screw it all of the way out to be lost if you're not paying attention. This happened to me at a street fair and it was sheer luck that it fell onto a pocket flap of my cargo shorts and I felt it before it fell on the ground. They should have put some kind of retainer ring on it to not allow it to be able to come all of the way out.All in all, this was a great purchase. If you have a bigger camera just order the extra weights and the monopod when you order the Stealthy. It'll save you from having to wait for them to be delivered when you inevitably order them anyways.

I think this product will be perfect for consumer camcoders with 3lbs or even less .For heavier dslrs i dont think its worth spending 300 above dollars for this product. The concept is really good.If im using it on my hdr-sr11 camcoder then i would have given it 5 stars.now a days there is no point of spending this much money for this product because sony has balanced optical stabilizer for most of their newer camcoders.B&H allow me a worry free return.

Comments about VariZoom Stealthy Camera Support:

I love my Stealthy. I shoot Sports and other events of my children as well I also shoot most videos for all of my family and friends. The Stealthy's versatility is what got my attention and I use every mode.

This replaced my stabilizer and my 3 point shooter and the bonus it that it is also a convenient table top tripod. The tripod mode is not just useful as a tripod but it is useful because you can set it down all as one unit with the camera and device.

Monopod is lightweight and works well but it is not heavy duty.

The hip clip is incredibly convenient.

It takes a little getting used to the lever locks but after a few uses changing modes it is easy to use.

The paper instructions refer you to a video on youtube for stabilizer set up which after watching made it easy to do.

Pros: rather easy to balance, short monopod, 3 point stabilizing works well, handheld good.

Cons: No belt clip came with the order. Tripod table, almost useless since you can not tilt the camcorder, extremely poor manual and instructions to balance the camcorder for stabilizer.

Stealthy will not replace tripod and sturdy monopod

I tried on both Canon EOS SL1 DSLR and Vixia M40 video cam. Very easy to balance for use as stabilizer. I used to have the FlowPod and SteadyCam, and Stealthy is so small and compact.
