By using a straight bracket the flash is away from the lens. This helps to reduce flash-shadows behind the subject and adds a little more dimension to the face in portrait photography.

Comments about General Brand Straight Flash Bracket:
I wanted a straight metal flash bracket so that I could put my ETTL flash at the far end with a small softbox and use it via TTL cord to provide lighting for my macro photography. This plate met my few criteria, mainly that it was made of metal and was cheap. I didn't need anything fancy and this plate isn't, but it does the job very well. I think it will hold up to use okay - the bracket itself is pretty tough and the mounting screw for the camera-end seems good. The only weak spot is the coldshoe built into the other end - it doesn't inspire a ton of confidence and, worse yet, doesn't have a mount thread through it - although there is one in the bracket next to it. I have a small ballhead in the coldshoe at the moment, tightened down as much as I can get it. Seems secure for now, but I anticipate having to do a little engineering in the future to beef it up. (Hence only 4 stars)

Comments about General Brand Straight Flash Bracket:
It's cheap, it's simple, but it works perfectly. Build feels solid, and the grip on my 5D is great. Using it with a 430exII and a 1.5' TTL cord, and I couldn't be happier.

Comments about General Brand Straight Flash Bracket:
I purchased this bracket to mount My Nikon ML-3 remote. It works perfectly. It is adjustable and frees up the hot shoe so i can still utilize my flash. It is light weight and made out of Aluminum. It is also lined with rubber so it will not damage the bottom of the camera. On the bottom of the bracket is a tripod socket which is very convenient.

Comments about General Brand Straight Flash Bracket:
Simple sturdy and straightforwaard design is multi-purpose..I purchased this in order to mount the receiver for my Nikon ML-3 Wireless Remote Trigger System. The sliding mounting screw permits max. offset from the lens. The rubber seating prevents damage to the camera bottom and the available 3/8 mount on the bottom allows the Bracket to be set atop a tripod to provide a solid base for your expensive camera/lens combination. It is even more versatile than the Nikon bracket and is very much cheaper as well
I highly recommend this for separating flash from lens..
I can find no problem of any kind..Works as it is designed to work.

Nice construction. I use it to hold the Rode Video Mic for my HV20. I'm using the Litepanels mini on the cameras hot shoe. Just ensure it's tighten down properly or else you will have too much movement
