Comments about Optoma Technology HD25-LV Full HD 1080p Multi-Region DLP 3D Projector:

Mostly using this for stereoscopic projection. Comes with internal DLP LINK emitter, and Sainsonic glasses are under $[*] each. Hi refresh of 144hz assures flicker-free presentation with beautiful, bright image.

Comments about Optoma Technology HD25-LV Full HD 1080p Multi-Region DLP 3D Projector:

First off, the quality depends on how much ground work and extra $$$ you're willing to spend. I got my optoma few weeks ago. Got the LV model with 3200 lumens. I have a 65" Sony LED 3DTV and wanted something about 125" for good home theater and gaming experience including 3D. I took one star out, because Optoma support refused to help me with some good screen suggestions for this model. I cannot stress this enough, but if you want to get the best brightness and contrast combination of what this projector offers, you need to really get the right projection screen. I have a very narrow requirement when there a big wall inset about 120" in my living room where my Sony TV sits and I mounted the motorized projection screen in front of it in the ceiling. The speakers are in the Wall inset , therefore I could only choose a screen material that allows sound through. So went with the Elite AoustiPro Spectrum screen. It has only 1.0 gain. But that's a real No No to get the best output. So now I really have to shut all the windows and keep the room dark to get some reasonable brightness. Don't be fooled by the 3200 lumens or 20000:1 contrast ratio. You can compare that to your HDTV and see that the colors are not that vibrant and it's not quite a easy job to set the colors correctly let alone get anywhere near the vibrant colors of LED/LCD TVs. So I'm contemplating on maybe installing a 1.5 again or above screen (something like the Elite HC Gray series, but too bad they don't make it in the motorized version and or fabric that let's sound through. I've no idea why. I contacted Elite screens and asked them why not? No answer again! I'm thinking maybe it's due to the type of paint/fabric they use, and maybe it cannot be rolled correctly!? No idea. I'm not sure why these manufacturers don't care. Next you've to also make sure to select the right HDMI quality cables. Another problem I have is with the HDMI wireless. I mean it has quality reviews, but again it all depends on your home or neighbors home and how many devices are operating in that frequency. I get disturbances on and off (every 20 minutes or so) for 2-3 minutes and couldn't figure out what's causing it. This is even with the HDMI wireless transmitter and receiver (top quality 5 star rated) in the same room even facing each other!3D works great. Better than my 3D on my TV. Again one issue is the color saturation and brightness. Other than that I don't see any ghosting at all on 3D. So in short, if you're really planning to put in a lot of effort , you won't get close to making the picture look as it should be in the best of terms. The screen I use is about $400. But if you want to invest in really good screens, they may cost you more than the projector itself. So getting the projector is just half the headache. If you're ready for a budget of 3K or 4K atleast, then it's possible you can get a better setup. Then again, you've to remember you get what you pay for. So for $[$]for the projector and the features and quality you get, you cannot complain. If you're looking for great quality, then you've to ready to spend 4 or 5K for projectors and 2-3K for screen. So all in all, great. Lot more work pending to make it better. So much to do, so little time :-(

Easy to setup, The image looks great just by using the presets, or you can tweak the color setting yourself (I haven't done that yet) I'm projecting on to a wall that I painted with Sherwin-Williams ProClassic Smooth Enamel Satin Finish base white. It looks as good as any screen I have used.
