The lowepro orange with light gray accent Flipside Sport 20L AW Daypack from Lowepro is a compact daypack that holds a pro DSLR with a 300mm f/2.8 lens attached, an extra pro DSLR with grip, two additional lenses and a flash. There's also a separate pocket for an 11.75" tablet or small laptop. The pack will also hold an optional one liter hydration reservoir with room for a sip tube.

The pack features a removable, adjustable, water-resistant camera compartment with storm flap closure. When this compartment is removed, you have one large interior storage space. If you rotate the pack to the front, your gear can be accessed from a zippered side pocket. This saves you the trouble of removing the entire Flipside to retrieve equipment. For added security, a security buckle prevents the side zipper from being opened. You can secure your tripod or monopod to the side and there are also attachment points for trekking poles or ice axe. The back panel has a zippered pocket for small accessories and personal items.

The material is a lightweight 210D triple ripstop nylon with polyurethane coating. A built-in All-Weather cover can be rapidly deployed to protect your pack from foul weather. The adjustable shoulder straps, sternum and waist belt provide a customized fit while on the trail. The back and shoulder areas are perforated to help wick moisture.

I was looking for the following:1. Something that will be strong enough and hold the requested gear (see below)2. Includes a compartment for a water reservoir of 100oz.3. Not too bulky or big and should be comfortable for hikesMy relevant gear includes:1. Nikon D8002. Nikon 300mm 2.83. Nikon 24-120 44. Nikon 105mm 2.85. Gitzo Systematic GT4552TS tripod6. RRS BH-55 LR7. Some small stuffFirst of all, the Lowepro flipside 20L AW is the only one I saw that answers the above requirements. Officially they do say that only a 50oz. reservoir can fit in, but I found that if you take a 100oz. one and fill it up w/ only 70oz. (the 70oz. bag is wider than the 100oz. one) - it can fit.It is a very good bag, sturdy, strong and comfortable to carry around. Well, almost. It depends. Since the tripod is located on the side of the bag, and the water reservoir on the other, you might think it balances (my tripod plus the ball head weight around 7.5 lb). But what if I decided not to take water with me? Or had finished it all? Then, the bag tilts to the side. Moving the heavy 300mm lens to the other side of the tripod - did help a little, but didn't bring the desired balance.I ended up buying a [$]4 adjustable bungee (28"-6"), hooked it to the bag handle, and by placing two tripod legs in the walking stick straps, I was able to safely secure the tripod w/ the bungee to the front (see picture enclosed). So when I don't carry water, or had finished it all, I'm moving the tripod from the side to the front. Not ideal, but does work. The inside camera compartment is divided in an OK fashion. If you attach your camera to the greater lense, say the 300mm 2.8, it's fine. But, but if you want to attach a small lense to your camera and have the big one in the bag - the velcros do not reach the height of the big lense and it stays a little loose on the upper side (see enclosed picture). I did manage to store it after all, leaving one end of the divider loose. Same here - good, but not great.Overall, w/ the above limitations, I'm pleased and believe it's a good purchase.

This is a roomy bag with a number of pluses. However, its interior flexibility is limited because of where the movable velcro dividers can be placed, and the left to right dividers are too short to allow for larger compartments. It is comfortable and has several exterior pockets with room for water--the main reason I bought it.

    Great backpack

    By Ksauer

    from Texas

Comments about Flipside Sport 20L AW Daypack (Lowepro Orange/Light Gray Accents):

This pack is deeper than my other backpacks. It is perfect for my professional cameras with battery packs attached. No squeezing it in with this bag. My only issue is I have some smaller items that fit in my other backpack due to smaller pockets. This pack does not have smaller pockets. To resolve that issue, I made a pocket that will hold the small items and inserted into one of the pockets. It works for me. This a well made bag and is perfect for my sports and hiking photography.

Design was spot-on, the orange color had zip, great tripod carrier, efficient use of space and a perfect water carrier arrangement. My only problem was at 5'4" the bag was riding too low on my back for me. I was sorry to have to return it.

Comments about Flipside Sport 20L AW Daypack (Lowepro Orange/Light Gray Accents):

I have been on a search for the perfect camera bag. I have owned probably 12 over the course of the last three years. They never seem to "have it all". Until now, at least. I have owned this bag for about two weeks and have taken it on two short adventures. The bag holds everything I will ever need and then some. I have a Canon 7D, 17-40 f4, 70-200 f4, speedlight 580, iPad mini, tripod, every cord, cable, charger that I will ever need. There is plenty of room for my gear to grow. I can easily fit a second body, and two more prime lenses. A big plus is the hydration pocket big enough for a 50oz bladder. The reasons I love this bag include: it's light weight, includes a rain cover, has a removable insert, has a hydration pocket, has room for an iPad and cords and a tripod holder. Haven't found any negatives yet.

Comments about Flipside Sport 20L AW Daypack (Lowepro Orange/Light Gray Accents):

This bag far exceeded my expectations. It holds my camera body, 3 lenses and much more. The extra storage is great. Looked at the 15L and went with this due to extra storage compartments. Look forward to many photo excursions with this bag. And by removing the internal compartment, I can use it is a day pack for hiking. Would highly recommend this bag.

Comments about Flipside Sport 20L AW Daypack (Galaxy Blue/Light Gray Accents):

I bought this primarily for long hikes to carry water and a tripod conveniently. I needed a pack that would open from the back. Main reason is I'm tired of laying the pack down and having the straps and the back of the bag dirty and putting it on. This holds enough gear for a day excursion without killing me. I found the mesh back and waist strap very comfortable. The blue color is nice and doesn't exclaim "camera inside". I wish the mesh pockets on the waist strap were more secure to carry stuff, i.e my keys. You can put lens cloths, bandana or a snack instead. A well designed backpack.

I've always had problems with over packing gear. This bag has solved all issues for me. I carry my 5DMk3, 3 lenses, speedlite, cables, accessories, tripod, water pouch and a few other things. The way its designed makes the weight more distributed and it never feels like you have a full bag. Most times I can forget that I am carrying most of my gear.

I already had the 15L, but needed more room for the next trip. Plenty of room for the D610, 17-55, 70-200, 1.7x tele, and SB900. Still room leftover for odds and ends. Straps comfortable for day hikes. Zippers seem sturdy. Time will tell. Could use some more small external pockets.

I returned the bag. Access to the main compartment is from the front (the side against your back) rather than from the rear. You have to have the belt on, take the supports off your shoulders, then turn the bag to in front of you to be able to zip it open and gain access. Great, I guess, for security, but a pain to use - especially if you do not particularly want to cinch to waist straps. Well made, but I passed.

I have not had this product long but I have used it on a couple of short hikes and some mountain biking. It stays put and flips around well as advertised. The camera stays put as well so I know it is always safe and sound. I need to work on my organizational skills because it does take me awhile to find some items. I have not used the water reservoir yet other than to keep a spray bottle to place droplets on leaves, flowers, etc. I really like the orange because I like going into the forest in the fall and there are often hunters lurking about. I need the visibility to stay safe. This has been a great product so far and I am looking forward to using this for a long time on a lot of adventures.

Comments about Flipside Sport 20L AW Daypack (Galaxy Blue/Light Gray Accents):

I headed out to the deserts of Arizona and Utah with my new Flipside Sport 20L AW Daypack carrying my Nikon D800, my 24-70mm f2.8 lens, my 50mm f1.8 lens, and my GoPro Hero3. The desert is a dusty place for camera gear. With the Flipside, I could lay the bag on its backside and get my camera out without getting my straps and the part next to my clothes all dirty. The Flipside also allows me to carry my carbon fiber tripod on my backpack close to my body instead of protruding out to knock into rocks walls while I was in the narrow Antelope Canyon. The material was easy to wipe off when it got dirty. I would give it a five star rating if the zippers were heavy duty and I could get the pack in black. So far, the zippers have held up.

Comments about Flipside Sport 20L AW Daypack (Galaxy Blue/Light Gray Accents):

Camera backpacks designed for use in the field are uncommon. I bought this bag as a day hiker to carry my camera gear, water and a sandwich or snack. It fits my Nikon D5300 attached to my Nikon 80-400 zoom w/hood, Nikon 105mm macro w/hood, Nikon 16-85mm w/hood, 2 filters, small headlamp and other small items. There is room for one more small lens, a flash or a D5300 body. I have carried a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod and 488RC2 head in the side carrier. The bag is comfortable for me (5' 9" 180 lbs). Much of my field work is in swamps and marshes, so being able to swing the bag around an access the camera compartment without having to set the bag down is a big plus. The camera compartment is removable, allowing the bag to be used as a daypack. This is a nice idea, but it means the sides of the bag are not attached to the outer shell. Consequently when you swing the loaded bag around to the front and open, the sides relax, making it hard to close the zipper. I solved this problem by taking the bag to a shoe repair shop and having them stitch the compartment to the shell. Not a perfect fix, but much better. While I was at the shoe repair shop I had them stitch a small mesh zipper pocket from an old gym bag to the inside of the flap to hold small items like memory cards and batteries. While there are 6 pockets on the outside of the bag, they are not accessible when the camera compartment is open. There is only one pocket on the camera compartment side, in the flap, and it is nylon cloth, so small items like memory cards or batteries are not visible. It is also too deep to be handy for small items, although OK for filters or small manuals. All in all, it works well for me. No bag is perfect, and I would recommend the bag.

I love the light weight, the ability to carry allmy camera and lenses and other things. The belt in the front is for me useless, I need toput on on and remove fast. The front belt is too cumbersome.I will use it for my trips for pleasure and my next trip to Europe.

Bought this bag for times when I need to go out with something smaller that my LoweproAW400. I was looking for the smallest footprint backpack for what I wanted to carry, and I definitely found it. For as small as this back is, I was able to comfortably fit my 14-24, D3s with 24-70 attached, 70-200, SB900 and gripped D700. There's not a lot of pockets on this bag. But for a day out shooting it's PERFECT. I was able to store spare batteries for both cameras and my flash. I absolutely LOVE this bag. Even with all that weight, the bag was comfortable on my back. The only problem I do have with the bag is the waist strap. I wish it was removable!!!! I don't use it and never will. So I'm going to have to remove it because it's too much in the way for me. Besides that, this bag is perfection... for me.

This bag works great for my purpose of being able to carry my camera and 300mm f2.8. The bag is well built and functions as needed. Having the bag open on the strap side takes a little getting used to.
