The black 1 V2 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 1 NIKKOR 10-100mm Lens from Nikon combines the versatile, compact interchangeable lens 1 V2 mirrorless camera with the equally versatile 10-100mm f/4.0-5.6 VR zoom lens. This kit provides you with a camera/lens combination for multiple photo and video applications and offers as your introduction to the Nikon 1 series, its flagship camera featuring DSLR-like performance and compact camera handling.

The V2 houses a high resolution 14.2MP 13.2 x 8.8mm CMOS sensor for sharp, low-noise imaging. Its Advanced Hybrid Autofocus System provides both phase (73-point) and contrast-detection (135-point) autofocus for much faster focusing and shooting at up to 60 frames per second (with AF locked). Without AF locked, maximum continuous shooting speed is 15fps.

The V2 captures stills in JPEG and RAW and video in the MOV format, with H.264/MPEG-4 compression. Integrated features include a 3.0" LCD display and an electronic viewfinder with 100% angle-of-view and diopter adjustment. Ergonomically placed command and feature buttons make the V2 very easy to use.

Motion Snapshot mode captures a succession of images with just one click. The V2 has impressive low light capabilities with a wide ISO range of 160-6400. Smart Photo Selector captures 20 shots with one press of the shutter button, then selects the five best for you.

With the optional WU-1b Wireless Adapter, you can wirelessly transfer photos to your smartphone, tablet or other compatible Wi-Fi enabled device. Use your smartphone to instantly upload images to the Internet or email them to friends, and family. Install Nikon's free Wireless Mobile Adapter Utility Android- or iOS-powered app to gain the ability to remotely control the Nikon 1 V2--see what your camera sees and fire off shots right from your smart device.

The 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4-5.6 is a powerful zoom lens that covers a wide focal length range from wide-angle to telephoto, equivalent to a 27 to 270 mm focal length in 35mm format. Nikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization is supported by this lens and provides compensation for camera shake to give you clearer images when shooting in low light or at long focal lengths. Its metallic barrel is durable and stylish and its wide zoom ring provides smooth action.

Enhanced Motion Snapshot
Blend motion, stills and sound to capture the essence of a moment. With a single press of the shutter, the V2 captures a short slow-motion movie sequence plus a single still image, then merges those elements into a unique 10-second document that you can easily share in .mov or .nms file formats. Even add background music to set the mood.
Best Moment Capture Mode - Slow View
See the world in slow motion through the viewfinder, then grab exactly the shot you want with the new Slow View. Just press the shutter button halfway, and watch live action in slow motion (up to 40 frames slowed down from 1.33 to 6.67 seconds).
Best Moment Capture Mode - Smart Photo Selector
Captures 20 shots with a single press of the shutter button, then selects the five best for you.
Live Image Control
See how an end-result photo will look before you shoot it with Live Image Control. This feature gives you a real-time preview of your image based on the current camera settings. Play with different effects, filters, exposure and depth-of-field, and see a preview of how the changes will affect your image. When you're ready, just press the shutter button and you've got precisely the shot you want.
Extend Your Creativity: Simultaneously Capture Full HD (1080p) Movies and Photos
Work with both high resolution photos and Full HD (1080p) movies to bring even more creative expression to life. Start recording at the touch of a button. See a moment you'd like as a still? Hit the shutter. Autofocus keeps everything in focus, even when working double duty to record movies and photograph stills. Elevate production with the addition of varied frame rates in 30/60/400/1200fps. Don't be hindered by working in just one mode - Nikon 1 flexibility gives you more. The Advanced Movie Mode lets you maintain PSAM exposure control while recording those 1080 HD videos. Track your subjects with ease, even as lighting changes. Capture stereo sound to accompany your video via the built-in stereo microphone with adjustable sensitivity. You can also add the optional external ME-1 stereo microphone with the AS-N1000 Multi Accessory Port Adapter (not included).
Fast Continuous Shooting Speed
With the electronic shutter, you can capture up to a fast 60fps at full-resolution. Other available speeds include 5, 15, or 30fps. Comments about 1 V2 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 1 NIKKOR 10-100mm Lens (White):

I waited for quite some time before purchasing this camera until one day I searched online and was lead to BH's website and found it was on sale for a GREAT PRICE!

I was debating at first to get the 10-30mm & 30-100mm kit but after rewiewing other reviews, the 10-100mm pretty much replaced both of these lenses. I guess that depends on the photographer, as for me, I'm always taking landscapes and closeups, so having to interchange between two lenses seemed like an extra unneeded step for me. I'm sure it won't be long till I purchase other lenses to accomodate this beauty.

I'm still a beginner at photography with a lot to learn about ISO and mirrorless vs DSLR cameras so here is my stab at it for this one.

      Pros:

      1. This camera is lightweight, without the extra mirror that DSLR cameras have, it reduces itself in weight and size.

      2. It's very easy to learn. I'm still exploring the meaning behind aperatures, and ISOs, focal points etc so if I need to get a decent quick shot to wow about it can still be accomplished in auto mode. However, taking the time to explore the A-apperature and M-manual modes really bring the fine quality of these definitions to life!

3.Being a novice, I find exploring the settings on the camera simple making my "quick shoot and go - back and forth into settings" experience very user friendly.

      For example:
3a. F- button accesses multiple features, toggle wheels rotates through the features.
3b. Pressing the wheel goes into the feature and toggling the wheel again provides the options in the feature, press again and its active.

      4. Blending with your choice, depending on the lighting in the room or outside, you can adjust the exposure settings by a quick click and toggle (in A and B modes) bringing more light or darkness into your picture.

      Cons:

      1. There aren't many lenses available, fortunately there are adapters both made by Nikon and Fotodiox that converts your DSLR lenses to work with this camera.

      2. The Body/Construction has this plastic feel, its thin-like, setting it down requires a more delicate practice compared to a DSLR having more thickness feeling like it could handle a beating.

Overall, For my first camera I hope to learn a lot out of it. as for some using DSLRs, this would be a step out of the bulky realm and into a convenient compact quality picture taking experience.

Comments about 1 V2 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 1 NIKKOR 10-100mm Lens (White):

I've had my eyes on this camera for some time but wanted a good price for it. I searched online and to my surprise found it on sale at BHphotovideo.com.

I couldn't decide between the 10-30mm & 30mm-110mm kit. Reading other reviews, I trusted their advising that the 10-100mm kit would pretty much replace both 10-30mm & 30mm-110mm lenses. Since I plan on taking landscapes and close-ups, it made more sense getting this kit. Even with the 10-100mm lense on, it is still very light weight.

I'm very impressed with the quality pictures that it takes and the speed that it takes it in. Auto mode accurately focuses and gives great shots, but when going into the other customizable modes like A-aperature, and M-manual, it makes the camera an enjoyable exploration. You can start to play with the lighting, focus points, exposures levels, and even different lighting tints like NL (natural light) MC (not sure of the definition, but it gives you gray shots). I'm still very new at photography and understanding the similarities and differences between mirrorless and dslr cameras.

There is one slight pet pieve which is how the lense screws onto the body. I noticed with a Canon DSLR... their is a smooth glide and snap feel that I like when fastening the lense to the body. I don't get that feeling with this camera.. which gives it kind of a cheap feel. Despite that, it does snap and it does stay secure, and is not that big of a concern to me as the quality of the pictures prove to be very good.

Comments about 1 V2 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 1 NIKKOR 10-100mm Lens (White):

This camera is a decent backup or second camera. I don't always want to carry a D800 with the 28-300mm lens. Heavy and bulky. I also have a S6500, but the S6500 can unexpectedly have a shutter delay or slow focus. I looked at the J3 and AW1, but I still prefer a camera with a viewfinder. I waited for the V3 to see what it offered. I was hoping for a tilting screen to be added. But I was a bit disappointed that the V3 uses micro SD cards (a real nuisance to change while in the middle of a tour) and the weight was more with the added viewfinder and handle (a lot more). The V1 didn't have a built in flash and with the smaller sensors used in both cameras, I figured the extra megapixels might be a bonus.
I got the white body and lens. The white is a very bright white. Second guessing myself on the choice. Probably easy to get dirty and the curled lens zoom control is silver which will show dirt easily. The camera doesn't feel quite right in my hands, the grip is too close to the lens. Because of the camera size this was expected. It's not uncomfortable, but noticeable. The viewfinder screen isn't as sharp as I would have wished (It's a bit grainy). The screen size is a bit non-standard. Even though most Nikon screens are 3 inch diagonal, no screen protector exists for the V2. The V1 protector definitely does not fit. I'm not a big fan of the 'auto on by unlocking the lens' fan or the alternative spring loaded on/off switch on the deck of the camera. When you close the lens, off position, the camera doesn't turn off if you are doing other things such as looking at a menu item or reviewing a picture. Either on or off like in other cameras is best in my opinion. As others have mentioned, I wish they had included a regular hot shoe instead of an 'accessory' shoe on top of the camera. The included camera strap is a bit narrow, 3/4 inch in width. One other minor complaint, the lens alignment dot on the camera is now at the center below the viewfinder instead of to the right above the lens release button.
The functions are pretty familiar to anyone who uses more advanced cameras, auto/P/S/A/M and a control dial. I do like the sensor that knows when you are looking through the viewfinder instead of the screen. There is a diopter adjustment for the viewfinder which is a necessity with my less than perfect vision. The ability to use auto Nikon lenses (with an FT1 adapter) at 2.7 magnification is a real bonus.
The pictures I have taken have been excellent. I don't expect it to match the D800, but it isn't meant as a replacement, just an alternative and backup. The videos seem fine with the testing I've done, but the video capability is just an occasional option/feature, not the primary purpose of the camera. A lot of the features and settings are buried in the menus rather than using physical buttons and some of the features use the function button in conjunction with the control dial (not real obvious since you have to scroll through the options).
Overall I am very pleased with the quality and features of the camera. It is small and lightweight, about 24 ounces with battery, strap and 10-100mm lens with polarizer. The pictures look good and performs like a regular SLR without the shutter delay. Could be better and definitely less expensive, but it is a keeper.

Comments about 1 V2 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 1 NIKKOR 10-100mm Lens (Black):

Handling the Nikon 1 v2 is a vast improvement from the Nikon 1 v1. World's apart for shooting. Having the Mode dial on top of the camera of the Nikon1 v2 is a significant time-saver. Having the F (Function) key under your right thumb gives a wealth of controls for changing aperture, ISO, metering, AF mode, AF-area mode, and Picture rendition all while looking through the viewfinder.

Plus: Focus is very fast. RAW files are amazing in quality although there is noticeably more noise (grain) in the shadows than in the v1 model but generally grain is very well controlled. If you use Adobe Bridge or Lightroom you can control it with noise reduction very well.

Plus: The 2.7 crop factor when using 35mm lenses on the v2 makes it great for long lenses and wildlife.

          Plus: Super compact and light.

Negative: 2 second delay when shooting with image stabilization ON

Is the Nikon1 v2 perfect? No. Eliminating the intervalometer of the v1 was a mistake. And Silent Shooting on the v2 leaves you wondering whether you actually took the shot, while with the v1 there was a small sound that even though silent it was a clear indicator that you the took photograph. Normal sound shooting on the v2 gives an annoying beep that you cannot eliminate.

I also think moving all the buttons to the left of the LCD panel was a mistake. Having the Playback button on the right hand side of the v1 was a definite time saver to review images while looking through the viewfinder and you could simultaneously press the Playback button. Now, of necessity you MUST pull your eye away to re-accomodate your left hand to the PLAY button. The Nikon 1 v2 is at best a very flawed refinement of the v1 and must be followed by a v3.

Nikon has chosen the coward's way of addressing the mirrorless camera market with the Nikon 1 v2.

Comments about 1 V2 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 1 NIKKOR 10-100mm Lens (Black):

The Nikon1 V2 is simply amazing! Small, light, comfortable in hand, easy to use, options access is logical, straight forward, excellent view finder.

This mirrorless camera takes consistently tack-sharp images, even when 'target' is moving. The Nikkor 10-100mm lens, well I can only heap praises on it. You want bokeh? It delivers! Wide angle, yep! Birds in flight, YES! Macro...uh-huh! Battery life is impressive. I can easily shoot 350+ images with a charge to spare.

User tip: There is a noticeable 'lag time' between shots. I found that if I press the shutter button immediately after I've taken a shot, the V2 is ready for more. There's a rhythm involved here.

Comments about 1 V2 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 1 NIKKOR 10-100mm Lens (Black):

I like the camera styling, the small form factor and where the buttons are aligned to my hands and how I use a camera. The lens takes some getting used to as in these compact cameras you are not used to having so much weight up front. Overall I have been happy with the camera and its quality of output.

This is a GREAT lightweight camera for daylight sports like soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, or track. I set it for 15-frames per second and continuous (AFC) focus. Focus tracking works well for moving subjects.

Comments about 1 V2 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 1 NIKKOR 10-100mm Lens (Black):

Let's get a couple things straight right out of the gate. This isn't a DSLR - it lacks the high ISO performance and much of the flexibility of most modern DSLR. It is also not a Point & Shoot (although like most cameras today, you can certainly use it like that.

What the Nikon 1 is, is petite. It won't slip into your pocket but it is light. The lenses are light. It won't intimidate people when you point it at them. It fits in your briefcase and doesn't require a backpack to take a complement of lenses along.

But the surprising thing is the image quality. It is not D600, or D800 good, but at low ISO's it is excellent and at high ISO's it is certainly good enough for small prints or WEB postings.

But then you start adding in some other things . . . truly silent electronic shutter. 30 (yes 30) Frames per second continuous capture . . . a reasonable amount of control over exposure, shutter speed and ISO . . . and you begin to realize that this is way different from any P&S.

And then you add in the FT1 - and my (relatively cheap) 35 1.8g is now a 90+mm 1,8, my 70-200 is now a 200-540, and my 300 is now an 810mm f4. Consider that I now have a 30fps 800mm f4 which in good light can rival most any DSLR of just a couple years ago.

                It's really a unique camera.

I bought this little camera to have as a "pocket" camera when I don't want to bring my large DSLR's on a hike, etc...This camera produces simply AMAZING results! It shoots in RAW, has staggeringly fast AF, the images are fantastic...I can't say enough wonderful things about this camera. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone, especially folks who shoot DSLR's and don't want the bulk hiking, backpacking, hunting, etc...
