The Hoya 67mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Haze Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs.
Hoya's high transmission Super-Multi-Coating minimizes reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.
This outstanding filter offers revolutionary performance in light transmission and color balance. 12 layers of Super Multicoating are applied to the surfaces of the Skylight 1B and UV(0) models, which produces an average transmission of 99.7%.
Coupled with maximum surface precision, this allows increased resistance to flare and stunning images can be recorded at wide apertures without compromising the performance of your lenses.

The Super HMC UV filter is distinguished by the optical coating on both sides of the glass. This is a high quality filter and worthly of high end lenses. I have them on both an 70-300mm f/3.5 and a 18-105mm f/3.8 Nikon lenses. No demonstrable reduction to the image quality is visible on images taken with either lens. In my sports photography work, I am typically right on the court very close to the action and having the glass of an expensive lens exposed is too much of a gamble for me. The only downside of this lens is that it's a bit difficult to clean as streaks seem to stick to it if the lens cleaning cloth (microfiber)isn't wet enough with cleaning fluid. However, I've found that if I flip the cloth to a dry spot right and swirl from the center outward to the edge, away go the streaks. The price is excellent.

Comments about Hoya 67mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Haze Filter:
I use this filter on all my lenses to protect their glass and to minimize sun flare. The multi-coat really helps with flare and reflections in my experience. Also, I've never had problems with these filters getting stuck on the lens, but FYI I heard that running a pencil point on the threads before application can lubricate them to prevent this from happening as well.

tested the canon 70-200 f4 is lens with and without this filter on a tripod and all of the usual precautions to elimitnate vibrations. after enlarging both images and processing both exactly alike with cs5 i could find absolutely no change in image quality except for a slight color shift which is not a problem to correct for in any event. all you pixle counters out there check it out for youselves!

The Hoya Super HMC is a high quality multicoated filter for protection. Some will disagree in using filters and go by the hood only, I have a toddler and every protection I can use helps some.

It is as described. BH price is better than average and reliable. I wish it could ship faster. This super saver thing is super slow now and coupled with holidays after holidays of this store, it took a full month for it to arrive for a distance of less than 30 miles, and I am not kidding. Since it is free shipping and I am not in a hurry, so I am ok.

Comments about Hoya 67mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Haze Filter:
Does not impact photos...over all excellent protection. Because of very effective multi-coating will show any debris, dust, or oil very easily. Clean up seems to be more difficult then other lenses I've purchased (mainly Nikon L1BC, and other Nikon lenses). Aluminium filter frames and threading are very tight when used on plastic based canon lenses...also difficult to start thread engagement.

Comments about Hoya 67mm Ultraviolet UV(0) Super Multi-Coated (S-HMC) Glass Haze Filter:
Ok, reading some of the other reviews here people expect to see less 'haze'. Really???
This is a great multi-coated filter with 99% light transmission. It's role is so that you don't worry shooting in all weather conditions without later having to clean the lens elements, instead you clean the filter. It's cheap insurance against damaging the front element, and does not affect the image quality. If you only shoot indoor in the studio then you really don't need a filter at all. Hoya is a good manufacturer that I trust and used before. All you need is good light transmission, and the filter being cheap so it's a small loss if you damage it. Please get over the fact that a UV filter will NOT improve your photographs!
