The EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens from Canon is an APS-C format digital SLR camera with an 18MP CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 5 image processor. It is combined with the versatile EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens for a wide range of focal length shooting options.

With 14-bit Analog/Digital conversion, an ISO range from 100-12800 (expandable to 25600) and Multi Shot Noise Reduction, the Rebel T5i offers sharp details, accurate colors and low-noise imaging in both bright and low-light shooting situations. Its 9-point all cross-type autofocus system provides fast focusing when shooting with the viewfinder and Hybrid CMOS AF increases autofocus speeds when shooting in Live View. The Rebel T5i can continuously shoot up to 5 fps.

A 3.0" Clear View II Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD with 1,040k-dot resolution provides composition and playback viewing. Its tilt and swivel capability makes it easy to compose your shots at odd angles and a smudge-resistant coating keeps the monitor clear. Intuitive touchscreen operation includes Touch Autofocus.

Full HD 1080p at 30 fps and 24 fps is supported with Movie Servo for continuous autofocus during shooting. Manual exposure is provided in video mode and 60 fps is possible when shooting at 720p HD. A built-in stereo microphone with manual audio level adjustment is provided for quality audio recording with your videos.

Scene Intelligent Auto Mode automatically makes the optimal camera adjustments based on scene recognition and improved scene detection is particularly helpful when shooting night scenes. Advanced imaging features such as Handheld Night Scene and HDR Backlight Control make capturing difficult shots easy and seven Creative Filters add expressive touches to your images and can even be viewed in real time during Live View shooting.

The EOS Rebel T5i utilizes SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards and is compatible with the full line of Canon EF and EF-S lenses. It is paired here with the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, which offers wide-angle to telephoto focal range specifically designed for APS-C cameras. This compact 18-135mm lens features Canon's Optical Image Stabilization system to reduce the blurring effects of camera shake when shooting at long focal lengths or in low light. It offers four stops of correction to provide clear images when using slower shutter speeds, and Dynamic Image Stabilization reduces video shake while tracking moving subjects or walking with your camera. The autofocus stepping motor (STM) offers fast, accurate and quiet autofocus when using the Movie Servo mode on the Rebel T5i, which ensures that the sound of the autofocus motor does not interrupt your audio recording while shooting a video. An aspherical and an Ultra-low Dispersion lens element reduce aberrations for sharp, high-contrast imaging.

18MP CMOS Sensor and DIGIC 5 Image Processor
High resolution, low-noise imaging and fast performance speed, including 5 fps continuous shooting, is provided by the combination of the Canon DIGIC 5 Image Processor and 18MP CMOS sensor.
3.0" Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD Monitor
A 3.0" Clear View II Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD monitor with 1,040k-dot resolution provides clear composition and playback viewing even in bright light. Its tilt and swivel capability makes shooting at odd angles easy, and a smudge-resistant coating keeps the monitor clear. Seven-level brightness control is available. Intuitive touchscreen control makes menu control simple, and even offers Touch Autofocus.
Full HD 1080 Video Capture
Full HD Movie mode supports Movie Servo for continuous focus tracking of moving subjects during recording. Manual exposure control and a built-in stereo microphone with manual audio level adjustment provide high-quality control over your shooting, and multiple frame rates and resolutions provide quality-level and stylistic shooting options. The ISO range in Video mode is 100-6400, and is expandable to 12800. Stills can be recorded during video shooting simply by pressing the camera's shutter button.
14-bit A/D Conversion
With 14-bit analog-to-digital conversion, the EOS Rebel T5i captures and records images with subtle tonal gradations and details resulting in more realistic and color-accurate images. By recording up to 16,384 colors per channel, the EOS Rebel T5i ensures that the fine details are recorded with accuracy.
ISO Range - Stills
An ISO Range of 100-12800 (expandable to 25600) provides low-noise capture in low light situations and saturated colors in bright conditions.
EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens
The EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens is built to match the sensor size on APS-C cameras and offers wide-angle to telephoto shooting capability, equivalent to a 29-216mm focal range in the 35mm format. This compact lens features Canon's Optical Image Stabilization system to reduce the blurring effects of camera shake when shooting at long focal lengths or in low light. It offers four stops of correction to provide clear images when using slower shutter speeds, and its Dynamic Image Stabilization improves the look of video while tracking moving subjects or walking with your camera. An inner focusing system provides fast focusing without extending the lens and the autofocus stepping motor (STM) offers smooth and quiet autofocus when using the Movie Servo mode on the Rebel T5i. This ensures that the sound of the autofocus motor does not interrupt your audio recording. Ultra-low Dispersion and aspherical lens elements reduce aberrations and provide sharp imaging in both photo and video mode.
Lens Compatibility
The Canon Rebel T5i is compatible with all EF and EF-S lenses.
9-point Autofocus System
A 9-point all cross-type AF system (including a high-precision dual-cross f/2.8 center point) provides fast and accurate autofocus performance when shooting with the viewfinder.
Hybrid CMOS AF
The Hybrid CMOS AF System is utilized when shooting photos and video in Live View. Combining two different kinds of AF-phase and contrast detection-continuous focus tracking becomes faster and more accurate than ever before in Live View.
Continuous Shooting
The Rebel T5i offers continuous shooting rates up to 5 fps at full resolution.
Multi Shot Noise Reduction
Multi Shot Noise Reduction provides outstanding noise reduction while preserving exacting detail at high ISO speeds.
Scene Intelligent Auto
Scene Intelligent Auto mode incorporates a number of Canon technologies to deliver the best possible exposure. Joining Picture Style Auto, Automatic Lighting Optimizer, Automatic White Balance, Autofocus, and Automatic Exposure, Scene Intelligent Auto mode analyzes the image, accounting for faces, colors, brightness, moving objects, contrast, even whether the camera is handheld or on a tripod, and then chooses the exposure and enhancements that bring out the best in any scene or situation.
Advanced Image Features
Handheld Night Scene mode makes it easy to shoot difficult night scenes without blur. By shooting and combining four consecutive shots at a shutter speed fast enough to avoid camera shake, Handheld Night Scene mode makes dramatic nighttime photography simple. HDR Backlight Control shoots three images of the same scene at differing exposures, and combines them for one expertly balanced image.
Scene Mode Position
Newly featured on the EOS Rebel T5i, the SCN setting on the Mode dial activates a choice of scenes on the menu screen for quick access to features like Night Portrait, HDR Backlight Control, Handheld Night Scene and more.
Memory
Compatible with SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, including Ultra High Speed (UHS-I) cards.
Lens Aberration Correction
The EOS Rebel T5i features lens correction tools that compensate for lens characteristics that can affect overall image quality. The EOS Rebel T5i's Peripheral Illumination Correction feature corrects light falloff in the corner of the image according to the characteristics of the lens being used. It even has correction data for a number of popular lenses stored in its memory. With the EOS Rebel T5i's chromatic aberration correction tool, distracting color fringing can be corrected at the time of shooting.
Creative Filters
Seven Creative Filters add expressive touches to your images and can be seen in real time when shooting in Live View. Creative Filters include Grainy Black and White, Soft Focus, Fisheye Effect, Toy Camera Effect, Miniature Effect, Art Bold Effect and Water Painting Effect. Each effect can be applied in three different levels (low, standard and strong).
GPS Compatible
With the optional GP-E2 GPS Receiver attached to the hot shoe or the digital terminal, the EOS Rebel T5i can record location, including latitude, longitude and altitude, and has the ability to track the trajectory of movement with its logging function. An electronic compass records the camera's orientation during each shot, and world time information is recorded through GPS synching.
Photobook Set-up
Photographers can share their images in book form with the EOS Rebel T5i's convenient Photobook Set-up feature. Users can easily choose specific images, images in a folder and even all images, then specify their sequence and layout. The results can be printed in book form with ease.

I'm the photographer who returned a Canon Luxury lens because of a minimal amount of chromatic aberration. Perhaps if I owned the EOS Rebel T5i at that time I would have kept it. Among the settings there is chromatic aberration correction. I took my Canon 18-200 mm lens off my Canon 60 D and a funny thing happened. It got better.
I purchased the Rebel and 18-135mm lens with modest expectations and as a backup camera for a road trip out West. I used it exclusively and had the 60 D as a backup. The camera has exceeded my expectations on every level.
I'm getting terrific photos and the camera is as easy or difficult to use as I want it to be. Long exposures in slot canyons in Page, AZ with a tripod were rich and detailed. Grab shots from the car or at scenic areas are easy on P or other settings.
I can use some of my "old" lenses on this camera and they work better than ever. It's a game changer. My friend using the 5D Mark II hopes some of the technology trickles up in Canons new high end cameras.

So far, after a week or so, I've been disappointed with this camera. I am a beginner/ intermediate with a camera. I've owned a many point-and-shoot and (all-in-one) super-zoom lens cameras - a Panasonic DMC-FZ100. Back in the day, I had an old Minolta slr film camera plus using my father's Canon AE-1 and A-1. I've had a photography class and developed my own negatives and prints. But I'm also an intermediate videographer. Along with the thousands of hours of videos I've shot, I've also worked with my wife who is the real video expert. I've shot videography onto mini-dv, SVHS/VHS, ¾", sd cards both on single and 3-chip cameras. We edit our videos - my wife with Adobe Premier and me with Pinnacle Studio 14. What I was looking for was a DSLR camera that could get me back into true photography, but would allow me to shoot acceptable videos - that way I could follow both my passions with a single device.
After a bunch of searching, I found Canon's T5i, an entry level DSLR, which said it could satisfy both my needs. I combined it with an EF-S 18-135 IS STM Canon lens. While this camera has been very good for photos, I have NOT been happy with it as even a makeshift video camera. Two things have made me unhappy. First, it only shoots in MOV format. Great if you're a Mac enthusiast, but not a favorite for us Microsoft users. I fear showing these clips to my wife. Heaven forbid they don't go into both of our editing softwares seamlessly. Second, I can't take a photo while recording video (without destroying my video!) Maybe I'm the only one who does this, but this is a favorite use of my previous camera, the Panasonic DMC-FZ100.
So, at least for now, I'm back to carting around two devices - my Canon - Great for photos - and a Sony Video Camera - great for videos. I think I'd feel a lot less cheated if Canon hadn't advertised this camera as such a great Video machine. Maybe after more weeks and months of practice, I'll be more comfortable relying on this for video, but right out of the box, I feel unfulfilled.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

Just new to the camera, but very satisfied with the quality pictures it takes. The 18-135mm lenses is perfect for all applications. Seems to be a very user friendly camera, although there are many things I need to learn about it. Overall great purchase.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

For years I have been taking pictures with a high-megapixel digital point-and-shoot, and then spending hours thereafter editing the jpeg images with Photoshop.

I finally decided to upgrade to a real DSLR, and, after much deliberation, decided upon the Canon EOS Rebel T5i.

I'm just only just beginning to understand the full range of the camera's functions. Nevertheless, at this point, I'm totally amazed at its capabilities, and I'd be sure to recommend this camera to another advanced photo novice who's ready to take the leap into DSLR photography.

I couldn't have made a better choice when I chose the Canon Rebel t5i as my first dslr camera. Very easy to navigate and use. Love all the manual setting options. The best option is the touch screen with multi view positions for great photos. Excited to join my first photography class at the end of January to put this amazing camera to good use.

I bought this camera as a gift. However, I had to try it out to be sure it works. The settings are simple and intuitive. Both the manual and auto focus are sharp. The lens is 18-135, so you have creative freedom with depth of field. It's good size and easy to manage. I have very small hands. My grandson, who will get this camera for Christmas, has large hands with long fingers. It will be perfect for his size.It isn't great in low light, especially with the lens extended. I prefer not to use flash if possible.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

Am happy to have chosen Canon t5i as it is very user friendly, stylish and perfectly fit in my palm. The touch screen is greatly responsive like current smartphones and makes our task easy to get into desired setting. I also feel the 18-135mm lens is a good choice as we need not worry about changing lens so frequent. This lens is bit heavy and expensive. This cam misses the built in WiFi, which would have made our life easier in sharing the photos. As a beginner in photography am overwhelmed with Canon t5i.

Comments about Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens:

Upgraded from a t1i. Considered the 60D or the T5i, and went with the t5i because it had newer, more up to date features. It was also a bit lighter and more portable. I've heard the 60D is a more professional camera, but I am more than pleased with the t5i and love the video features. 5*

I loved this camera from the first shot. It is so easy to use in all the auto focus settings. I would like to take a digital photography class to get more comfortable and knowledgeable about all the manual settings. It works with both my lenses from my previous Canon Rebel DSLR camera which I love.... inherent money savings. Download of photos is easy and shutter speed is fantastic for my son's sporting events and daughter's dance recitals. I just love this camera!

I upgraded to the Canon Rebel T5i from a Canon Powershot G15. Since this is my first DSLR I have a lot to learn. This camera lives up to Canon's excellent quality. I like the versatility of the swivel LCD screen, it should come in handy for shooting video. There seems to be plenty of options for shooting both manual and automatic. A beginner photographer should have no problem operating in auto.

I moved from a T1i to a T5i... And there is a lot of differences.
T5i it's a great product, easy to use, and his new lense (18-135 STM) it's pretty awesome.
It's a very good entry level DSLR, with trends to an intermediate level.

It has an intuitive menu system and its controls are amazing. And with it being a popular Canon model, there are a bunch of video tutorials on the internet on how to use it. If you are in the market and are think about getting this camera, just get it.
