I like careful landscape photography and manually blend images for dynamic range.
I bought this camera based on the DXOMARK score of Samsungs NX20. I knew they were going to improve on image quality with the NX300 and the NX20 was already very good. They improved many other things and as this was going to be a play around/hack camera, used while kayaking and stuff, it was for me the best value. It is many times better than the camera it replaced, a Fujifilm S7000 (2003) but it is quite a few notches above my D90 regarding IQ. Either the D90 is tired from tens of thousands of snaps or just plain old tech. It's images are bland compared to the NX300. But then IQ of the NX300 is also many notches below my D800 (I know, vanity). A couple of things worth noting are:
    1. High ISO is about a third of a stop slower than my Nikon DSLRs. So don't go examining noise off straight ISO figure comparisons. It cheats a bit - from my unscientific tests. Action shots need higher ISO settings to achieve the same speed of some other cameras. Standardization is the whole point of the ISO standard.
    2. The self timer is shoved under the same menu as Auto Bracketing. You can use one but not the other in conjunction. This is a big bummer because you must handle the camera (on it's tripod) for the auto bracketing shot. It should be still. According to the manual, the remote release cable also switches off the auto bracketing because it to is in the same "DRIVE" menu. I am yet to try this.

Overall, as a regular camera, I love using it and most will love the shots it produces. They are beautiful. I just won't use it as much as I thought because of the 2 points above.

Love the Samsung NX camera and system. Easy to learn, stunning pictures and half the cost of other camera systems. So very impressed with the image quality, however the only problem i have is that the lens diversity needs to grow, until then i recomend getting an adapter to be able to use other lenses (Cannon, Nikon...etc..)Until Samsung has more lenses to offer.

Comments about NX300 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Lens (White):

Bought this camera as my day to day walk-about camera for social events and capturing great family moments. Absolutely love it. The image quality is better than my aging low-end Canon EOS 1000D, and of course, it's significantly more compact. AF performance is quite good, and wifi connectivity to my Note 3 is just fantastic. Just tap and you're good to go! The bundled flash though is not so strong, and the battery life takes quite a hit when you use the wifi feature. Also, the buffer lag is significant. Another downer is the lack of external charger for the battery (must be charged in-camera by default). But all-in-all, I absolutely love this camera. There's really no need for anyone to buy entry-level DSLRs anymore. These CSCs fit the bill!

I am new to the manual world, and I think this is a great starter. I am not a professional photographer, the competition is far too numerous for that these days. I do have a passion for taking captivating photographs, and was not satisfied with the results from point and shoots. This camera is light- I can toss it into my (quite large) handbag and go. I was concerned about the lack of viewfinder, but then realized that you have to review each picture on the lcd anyway...I don't miss it a bit. I will say that the lcd is very difficult to see in bright light, which makes Arizona landscape photography a bit difficult. I'm looking into a hood. I'm also hoping Samsung will be adding more and more lenses to their collection. Overall, a great purchase.

My wife and I recently went to Italy on vacation. We are both dedicated Nikon DSLR users. I decided to buy this camera as a backup and to use for videos. We were both so impressed with this camera we ended up using it every day. Easy to carry to dinner or breakfast, easy to stick in the purse or man bag. it takes great pictures and the WIFI capabilities make it so easy to sent updates to your smart phone, then off to loved ones on facebook or where ever. We both HIGHLY recommend the NX300 with 18-55mm lens. B&G of Virginia

A very capable, yet underrated, camera

Comments about NX300 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Lens (Black):

With a number of very good mirrorless cameras released in the last year or so, the NX300 didn't receive much attention. Samsung, in general, is gaining in acceptance by the serious photography community very slowly; this, despite models with excellent features and very competitive image quality and overall performance. As an art photographer and professor of photography for over a decade, I am impressed by this camera.

The APS-C sized 20 megapixel sensor renders very good images in terms of color fidelity, detail, and dynamic range, particularly when using RAW format. When shooting in JPEG format, images are good except at high ISO (low light) wherein in-camera noise reduction is too aggressive, producing less detail and an artificial look when examined closely. RAW files do much better at high ISO. The build quality of the camera is reasonably good; it feels solid but not heavy - a good balance. NX lenses are above average among mirrorless systems, and the selection should grow quickly. Ergonomics are excellent. The buttons on the back are well organized, and despite only having only one control wheel (on the top plate), the iFn button mounted on the lens (used with the left hand) allows for ease of control over shutter speed, aperture, exposure meter compensation, etc. On the whole, navigation and operation are pretty intuitive. The hybrid phase detection auto-focus system focuses quickly and is generally accurate. Manual focus is aided by focus peaking - this is an excellent feature. The articulating AMOLED touch screen is very nice. Wi-Fi and NFC functions are pretty much perfect, as you might expect from Samsung.

In my opinion, the only significant drawback with the NX300 - and this might be huge for some - is the absence of an electronic viewfinder or EVF capability via the hot shoe. But the excellent AMOLED display has worked better than I suspected it would, even in relatively bright conditions.

Comments about NX300 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Lens (Black):

I got this as a step up from the compact camera world as I became increasingly interested in photography. It came down to NX300 or Sony NEX-6 but it looked like Samsung offers more for the money, so I went with Samsung.

              What I liked about it:

              * To me it seems to be producing nice, clear images. I'm not a pro photographer, but it suits my needs just fine.
              * Build quality seems to be good.
              * Layout of controls and UI interface is logical to me and works well
              * The 30mm lens is great with this camera, makes it more portable and works great for everyday use
              * Connectivity is done well. I typically connect via a cable because it's faster, but wifi and NFC also work fine. NFC is limited to JPEG only, but phones will not be able to read RAW anyways.
              * You get lightroom 4 for free

What I didn't like about it:

              * I was really hoping they made the panorama mode similarly to sphere panorama on android smartphones (and Samsung smartphones), but it's nowhere close. You can only do panorama on X or Y axis, but not both. I often use smartphone to take panorama with 6 photos, 3 in width, 2 in height and cover wider area, almost like a fish-lens effect. But you can't do that here. Also, you cannot turn the camera into portrait mode to cover wider "strip" and shoot panorama, it has to be landscape. I really hope that they could improve it with the next firmware release. All the necessary hardware is there, it's just the software that's weak.
              * Zooming in and out is done weird when browsing the photos. They could've just done it the same as on smartphones. You cannot zoom when the camera is rotated for 90 degrees (portrait mode) and you can only zoom to few predefined values, no continuous zooming. Again, software issue.
              * HDR can only work in JPEG and not RAW mode. Not a big deal, but I need to switch modes every time I want to shoot HDR.
              * I very rarely use flash, but it is a pain that it's not integrated in the body. Sony manages to do it with the same, if not smaller body size.
              * I did not have a camera with a viewfinder before, but it would be nice to have one.

Comments about NX300 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Lens (White):

I am very happy with my purchase of this camera. It does take a little getting used to after using a Rebel for so long, but it's been fairly easy to figure out. The size is great, so much easier to carry than my big Canon. I love the options of using it with the wifi or with my Galaxy S4 to upload straight to social media or send via email. I wish the screen had a little more mobility and I have had some issues with the auto focus not working as well as I would like. The clarity of both the screen and the pictures is awesome though and I think once I get used to everything it will be an amazing camera.

Love the NX300. Smaller than my regular DSLR. Photo and video quality is awesome. I also bought a 50-200mm lens. Will be anxious to try that out. For quick picture taking, the AUTO feature works great. To get more advanced, the manual settings are easy to understand and work well. My favorite feature is the touch-screen to focus on an area. Brilliant!

I have a Nikon D40x and it was a great camera but heavy. Ready to move on with technology I decided I wanted a mirrorless camera. Smaller and more compact than an SLR. Samsung does not disappoint. It's amazing. The shots are clear and vibrant. Low light is not a problem. The operating system is a bit cumbersome and for some reason you can't show the video on a Samsung TV (no sound.) That makes no sense....other than that....I LOVE my camera!

Comments about NX300 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Lens (Black):

I loved my old 35mm cmera and I purchased this camera to replace a point and shoot that had seen better days. After poring over many different reviews, I decided on the NX300. I was surprised at how light the camera is even with the 18-55mm lens. It's fast, takes excellent pictures and brings back memories of my beloved 35mm. The ability to shoot video also is just an added plus.

I really researched mirrorless cameras. I wanted something that had more capability than my point and shoot even though it had a lot of good features but I didn't want the size of a DSLR. So I decided this was the camera for me. I love the look and think it will be giving me many years of use. Will update review once I have a few clicks under my belt.

Very good pictures, well made camera, lots to like, the only real con is pricey. Some say you get what you pay for. I wouldn't call this a little point and shoot entry level camera but still easy to use. Is hard to see in sunlight but that is common with this type camera without viewfinder.

its packed with features, most of them usable.
                  The camera is well built.
I took it on a vacation trip, I shot over 500 images, it had some trouble focusing at low light.

I'm giving it 4 stars only, because the software the its advertised for iOS doesn't work, it needs a major work, it's very disappointing.

So many options to play with. Especially like the smart filter and best face option. Having a toddler makes it difficult to normally take pictures of him, but with this camera it is very easy. I have taken great landscape pics and sunsets. The range of shutter speed is very accomodating.

Comments about NX300 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Lens (White):

I was amazed about this camera capability. The WI-FI works seamless, the AMOLED screen is super sharp (even at daylight/outdoors), the software is quite intuitive, the weight and size makes portability extremely convenient. The video recording really exceeded my expectations.

I own an entry-level DSRL camera with exchageable lenses, but the bulkiness when traveling with small children makes impossible to exchange lenses and carry all package together.

This little camera does a great job and stands above average of any regular point-and-shoot type with the convenience of a DSRL camera features. Also very happy to see anyone could manage both Manual and Smart options seamlessly. Just Impressive.!

I decided to give a try to this type of camera knowing that Samsung is a relatively a new player in the camera industry as compared to the leaders, but I'm glad that I got this one.

I also made a head-to-head comparison with Nikon J3, and the grip was an issue with the Nikon plus some other cool features the NX300 has, particular the shooting speed, which is extremely fast. However; would recommend and extra battery, if you like to shoot both; video and pics for extended time.

There is not such a perfect camera and everybody has different tastes and needs, but in overall the NX300 is the most uncomplicated, easiest, and friendliest to use camera in the smart camera segment.

I am a working profesional so it takes a lot to impress me. I shoot and have shot with some of the best full frame SLRs Nikon and Canon as well as with Lieca M9. I was blown away by the resolution of this little camera even at ISO 1600. The auto focus is fast and acurate and the manule focus is as precise as is posible. This one is a keaper. It's the only camera I carry with me now for my personal work. I love the touch screen as well.

Comments about NX300 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Lens (Black):
