The Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount) is a normal length prime lens designed specifically for use on APS-C-sized image sensors, and as such provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 48mm. This lens is compatible with Sony E mirrorless cameras and supports all camera functions, including autofocus and exposure control.

The Planar design of this lens is a highly successful optical construction that inherently corrects for most aberrations and distortion while offering high overall sharpness and image clarity. Additionally, Carl Zeiss T* anti-reflective coatings have been applied to all lens surfaces to reduce reflections, lens flare, and ghosting to produce imagery with high contrast and color fidelity.

The physical construction of the lens features a metal lens barrel with rubberized control rings for high precision when working with manual focus. When working in autofocus modes, the focusing system of the lens offers smooth and reliable performance with high precision and control. A rigid metal bayonet mount ensures accurate alignment and a nearly circular nine-blade aperture works to produce an aesthetic out-of-focus highlight quality.

Sony E Compatibility
Designed for use on Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras and provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 48mm. The lens offers complete compatibility with all camera functions, including accurate autofocus and exposure control. It features a wide f/1.8 maximum aperture that aids in low-light shooting as well as greater control over the focus plane for shallow depth of field and selective focus applications.
Optical Design
This lens features a Planar optical design that works to eliminate a variety of aberrations and distortions in order to produce an image with high clarity and sharpness. A Carl Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to each lens surface to help minimize surface reflections in order to improve light transmission and provide greater image contrast and color fidelity.
Physical Design
The lens features a rigid, durable, yet lightweight, metal barrel with rubberized control rings to offer improved handling abilities. A metal bayonet mount aids in consistency and an ensured connection between the camera and lens. Additionally, a nine-blade, nearly circular aperture is used to smoothly render out-of-focus highlights.

First, in the most IMPORTANT function - pure image quality, this lens rocks! It is very sharp, has that great Zeiss micro-contrast that makes images "pop" with an almost "3D" effect, etc, etc, etc.But...and this is a big "but", IMO, I'm still up in the air about the actual "user experience" of this lens.1. It has nowhere NEAR the build quality and feel of, say, a steel Voigtlander lens, or even any of the DSLR Zeiss lenses. It is too light, and made with too much plastic, to give that "hewn from rock" feeling of a Voigtlander or DSLR Zeiss or Leica lens. (But it is light, so that's a bonus for whom lightness may be a desirable thing...")2. The AF is slow. It tracks in and out of focus until it locks down. It is accurate, but slow. Much, much, slower (and louder) than Sony's awesome little 35mm f/1.8 OSS lens. The Touit is perfectly fine for still objects, but moving.....not so good.3. It lacks OSS. Compared to my Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS lens, it presents a little less protection against user shake, where the Sony is perfect in this regard.4. It is nowhere near as nice to use for manual focus as a Voigtlander Ultron 28mm f/2 lens (with adapter), on the NEX. The Voigtlander has that fabulous little finger tab on the focus ring, feels MUCH more solid in build quality (no plastics!), and seems much easier to use the focus peaking function than the Zeiss, for some reason.Do I regret selling the Sony 35mm for this lens? Not really. I do like its image quality with that micro-contrast, but the Sony was an exceptional little lens for the money, and offered BETTER key functions (quieter, faster AF and OSS) and seemed almost as well built as the Touit.Do I wish the Touit was a little more like a normal Zeiss lens? YES! I'd trade the lightness for that quality build and steel materials of the other Zeiss/Leica/Voigtlander lenses, any day!

Great design and build quality paired with great optics. The AF is slow and lots of hunting. Typical for a third party lens, I'm told. If you want fast AF without hunting go with the Sony 35mm. It has OSS and much faster silent focusing without hunting at half the price. The incremental gain in sharpness you get with the Zeiss is not worth it for me.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

I got this lens a few weeks ago and ran it through some extensive testing in various environments, which eventually led me to taking it to the test lab and actually scrutinizing it, because I wasn't entirely satisfied that it was anything like the optical performance Ive come to expect from Zeiss. How hard is it to make a 50mm f1,8 lens when you consider that its already an established lens formula, with a proven track record in other mounts and other formats?I give it two stars because there are three things that make this lens not worth buying. Its sharp. Its small and well built. The separation between what is in focus and not, has an abruptness which tends to make the images all look the same unless stopped down beyond f4. and the bokeh is quite unattractive, which is a factor in a lens that is this expensive. The real deal breaker for is the spherochromatism (that horrible color shift on the front and back of the thing that is in focus), that which was basically done away with in quality optics made anytime in the last 15 years. It does not like to be exposed correctly in color, in contrasty light, you must under expose by -0.7, however it excels in black and white. I tested this lens on both the Fuji X-Trans and the Sony sensor, and it is equally as bad on both. The build quality is nice, feels good in the hand, and is nicely balanced on the NEX. The lens hood is idiotically massive. Its a spectacle in its own right. Why cant we have hoods with specificity like Leica's or the Fuji 35/1.4 and 18/f2?? There is no reason why any manufacturer cant use injection molding processes to make tighter tolerance square hoods which dont stick out into the middle of next week. I like the idea of a smooth rubber focus ring, however it is difficult to determine tactile efficiency of micro manual adjustments and, if, like me, you find yourself using a fingernail to add a bit of traction, you are out of luck on this lens.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

Coupled with the Sony A6000, its a match made in heaven, great image quality across the board starting at 2.0 and with the trademark pop contrast of all modern Zeiss lenses.
Autofocus is a bit noisy and not as fast as other lenses, so test it before buying it, make sure is OK to your taste.

Once the autofocus stuck until I unplugged the lens from the body.

Good Lens, probably best Sony APS lens for a roughly 35mm lens (50mm equivalent), but if speed is not that pressing matter, I think the Sony-Zeiss 35mm FE lens is a bit better at a comparable price.

I like the optical clarity of this lens. Its ability to show fine detail is superb. It appears to live up to the Zeiss name. It is light weight. The auto-focus is very active, but setting my Sony a6000 to manual focus solves that (probably saves some battery too).

is a different lens compare to 24mm 1.8f, center very sharp and soft at the edge (Very Sonnar feel)

compare to sigma art 30mm, the zeiss is faster with f1.8~

Purchased as a package with the 12mm Touit. Already owned the Sony 35mm e series. In the last week, I have taken some beautiful pictures with this lens, but it does not focus as well as the Sony 35mm, and of course it does not have the optical stabilization that the Sony has. If you are using Sony E mount cameras, buy the Sony. It is better overall.

Excellent 3D effect from wide open to f/5.6. My only minor gripe is that I wish the lens was a bit faster aperture (e.g., f/1.2-f/1.4) to better enable low light shooting.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

I have used sony 35mm 1.8 for almost year and decided to switch to this lens due to its quality.
Although 35mm 1.8 sony prime lens offers great oss, light weight and exceptional sharp images at a few steps down (not as sharp at f/1.8), i really wanted to have a great bokeh of f/1.8 of my a6000.
32mm vs 35mm slightly offers a slightly better angle when taking photos inside.
Planar 32mm offers a great bokeh, sharp image even at f/1.8.
However it does not have oss, so it would be somewhat difficult to take photos in low light even at f/1.8. Also, firmware for this lens has not been updated, and its af speed is slower than that of 24mm zeiss or sony 35mm oss. Many users expect to hear the update by the end of this month or so, but have to see how much areas will be covered with the updated af.

Overall, the quality and its sharpness even at f/1.8 is great (greater than that of sony 35mm f/1.8 and comparable to 24mm zeiss f/1.8), but lacks oss and low light shooting capability.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

This lens along with the other two Zeiss lenses that I own, 12mm f/2.8 and the 24mm f/1.8, are extremely sharp. The image through the viewfinder is bright. Auto focus is on the money without out any "hunting" and the auto focus moter is quiet.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

This lens is well built with satisfying sharpness! Bokeh is good. I really love it to shoot around. Focusing ring moves very fast and silently but a minor issue limits its actual focusing speed. It always moves backward and forward in a set to make sure focusing is correct. Unlike this lens, my Canon 85mm F1.8 USM reaches focusing just by moving in a direction. Although their motor speeds are close, focusing speed is slower for Touit 32mm. Other than this small issue, I really enjoy it!

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

Fast lens, great image quality, fairly compact and lightweight, good build quality.... if you want great image quality this is a great lens. The autofocus works well but is slow (hunts) and the motor is noisy so would not recommend for video work.

This is now my go to lens for shooting out and about, street-walking and hiking. I switch to my SEL18200 for zoom shots and for video and then to my Zeiss 12mm for ultra wide shots. This 32mm is the lens that spends the most time on my Nex 7.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

I have thought about selling this lens for quite some time and it seems I just can not do it. It has a certain quality to it from the combination of lightness + size + aesthetics + incredibly sharp IQ + great contrast that I can't give it up do to the slow focusing and bokeh, which although is nice, is nowhere near as good as other options.

If you're very close for a 3/4 or headshot the bokeh is great but the further you are away it just seems to sort of diminish quicker than I'd like. I've shot with many many 50mm ranged lenses so I have a feel for everything from f0/.95 up to 1.8.

I would love if this lens were 1.2, but the simple fact is that you can set it to 1.8 and forget it because it is so sharp (unlike what most 1.2 lenses are) that you won't need to change it ever.

Zeiss glass I've come to find has a unique style about it and it is very hard to describe but this lens has it, the 12mm 2.8 Touit has it, and all the other Zeiss glass I've owned have it as well. If you can live with the lack of hybrid super fast AF then give it a go!

NOTE: Be aware that the motor in this thing is heavy duty and quite powerful which means if you do not have an A6000 it will destroy your battery life with Pre-AF.

Very sharp. Much sharper than the Sony Kit lens. As everyone else has continued to complain, the focus hunts to irritation.
