The Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount) is a normal length prime lens designed specifically for use on APS-C-sized image sensors, and as such provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 48mm. This lens is compatible with Sony E mirrorless cameras and supports all camera functions, including autofocus and exposure control.

The Planar design of this lens is a highly successful optical construction that inherently corrects for most aberrations and distortion while offering high overall sharpness and image clarity. Additionally, Carl Zeiss T* anti-reflective coatings have been applied to all lens surfaces to reduce reflections, lens flare, and ghosting to produce imagery with high contrast and color fidelity.

The physical construction of the lens features a metal lens barrel with rubberized control rings for high precision when working with manual focus. When working in autofocus modes, the focusing system of the lens offers smooth and reliable performance with high precision and control. A rigid metal bayonet mount ensures accurate alignment and a nearly circular nine-blade aperture works to produce an aesthetic out-of-focus highlight quality.

Supports Phase-Detection and Fast Hybrid AF
This lens has been updated with Version 02 firmware and supports the use of phase-detection AF and Fast Hybrid autofocus systems on Sony E-mount cameras.
Sony E Compatibility
Designed for use on Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras and provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 48mm. The lens offers complete compatibility with all camera functions, including accurate autofocus and exposure control. It features a wide f/1.8 maximum aperture that aids in low-light shooting as well as greater control over the focus plane for shallow depth of field and selective focus applications.
Optical Design
This lens features a Planar optical design that works to eliminate a variety of aberrations and distortions in order to produce an image with high clarity and sharpness. A Carl Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to each lens surface to help minimize surface reflections in order to improve light transmission and provide greater image contrast and color fidelity.
Physical Design
The lens features a rigid, durable, yet lightweight, metal barrel with rubberized control rings to offer improved handling abilities. A metal bayonet mount aids in consistency and an ensured connection between the camera and lens. Additionally, a nine-blade, nearly circular aperture is used to smoothly render out-of-focus highlights.

First, in the most IMPORTANT function - pure image quality, this lens rocks! It is very sharp, has that great Zeiss micro-contrast that makes images "pop" with an almost "3D" effect, etc, etc, etc.But...and this is a big "but", IMO, I'm still up in the air about the actual "user experience" of this lens.1. It has nowhere NEAR the build quality and feel of, say, a steel Voigtlander lens, or even any of the DSLR Zeiss lenses. It is too light, and made with too much plastic, to give that "hewn from rock" feeling of a Voigtlander or DSLR Zeiss or Leica lens. (But it is light, so that's a bonus for whom lightness may be a desirable thing...")2. The AF is slow. It tracks in and out of focus until it locks down. It is accurate, but slow. Much, much, slower (and louder) than Sony's awesome little 35mm f/1.8 OSS lens. The Touit is perfectly fine for still objects, but moving.....not so good.3. It lacks OSS. Compared to my Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS lens, it presents a little less protection against user shake, where the Sony is perfect in this regard.4. It is nowhere near as nice to use for manual focus as a Voigtlander Ultron 28mm f/2 lens (with adapter), on the NEX. The Voigtlander has that fabulous little finger tab on the focus ring, feels MUCH more solid in build quality (no plastics!), and seems much easier to use the focus peaking function than the Zeiss, for some reason.Do I regret selling the Sony 35mm for this lens? Not really. I do like its image quality with that micro-contrast, but the Sony was an exceptional little lens for the money, and offered BETTER key functions (quieter, faster AF and OSS) and seemed almost as well built as the Touit.Do I wish the Touit was a little more like a normal Zeiss lens? YES! I'd trade the lightness for that quality build and steel materials of the other Zeiss/Leica/Voigtlander lenses, any day!

Great design and build quality paired with great optics. The AF is slow and lots of hunting. Typical for a third party lens, I'm told. If you want fast AF without hunting go with the Sony 35mm. It has OSS and much faster silent focusing without hunting at half the price. The incremental gain in sharpness you get with the Zeiss is not worth it for me.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

I bought this lens on sale for $. It's hard to go wrong at that price for a Zeiss lens. There's something about the pictures taken with the lens that is outstanding, it's partially sharpness but the colors are superb. My only gripe is the autofocus/aperture motor noise. Originally I despised it, but it's growing on me. For still pictures it's fine, for video it's a deal breaker.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

I purchased this lens after reading many reviews to which some complained of the noise of the lens, quality not up to Zeis standards. I LOVE THIS LENS! It does have a slight noise to the focusing mechanism.but I hardly hear it. I feel the quality is superb and the lens has a nice weight and feel to it. I jumped on purchasing this after the incredible price drop. Everyone needs a fast lens and this is the fine choice to add to your camera gear..

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

This is the lens to leave on the Sony Mirrorless cameras, if you need more image in the frame, move closer. Less? move backward.

It is tack sharp with little color fringing and stops down to the Holy Grail of 1.8

The biggest drawback is the cost but if you watch for it, you may catch it on sale as I did. Then snap it up.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

This lens -- 50mm equivalent on full frame camera -- is a real improvement on the regular Sony lenses. Am using on Sony nex 6 with APS - C sensor. Images are brighter and sharper. Autofocus is tack sharp. The availability of F 1.8 allows for great low light shooting and or lovely bouquet effects. The proportions in the lens are the same as the unassisted eye sees -- which is useful. A great lens to have as one of an array of glass.

Optics aren't bad but as many of you know, this lens hunts for focus. There is supposedly a firmware update to fix this but you have to MAIL IT IN, to get that done. In this day and age, that's just unacceptable, especially coming from a premium company like Zeiss. You're better off paying less for a non AF lens.

Initial thoughts (1/19/2015) - My first impression of the Zeiss 32mm f/1.8 lens for E-Mount Sony cameras is very favorable. It produces a crisp image edge-to-edge. Minimal fall off and no chromatic aberration that I can see. My only reason for not offering a perfect 5-star rating is the steep price. Seems a bit high for crop sensor glass. Regardless, this is a great lens and nice addition for Sony A6000 or NEX line of cameras.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

The online reviews of this lens are all over the map, so I took a chance and I'm glad I did. I really like this lens. It produces beautiful, saturated colors and it is sharp. The lens has a solid, yet light feel about it that makes it balance well with my NEX-6. This lens is on my camera 75% of the time, using it for just about everything. My favorite use is for environmental portraits where I can my focus on my subject yet make the background just blurry enough to let the viewer know where the photo was taken. I guess that's where the Zeiss 3-d effect makes this lens really shine. This is a nice step up from my Sigma 30mm f/2.8 DN. The SIgma is a great lens, especially for the price/performance ratio. As others have mentioned, it is kind of slow to focus and focus motor sound is noticeable but those are minor issues for me. Did I mention this lens is sharp and produces beautiful colors? Fantastic lens for the Nex-6. I do recommend this lens only for those who don't mind the slow focus and noisy focus motor

                  Beautiful Lens For E-mount

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

I recently purchased this lens and the Zeiss 12mm Touit from B&H. I took both lenses to St. Louis and wandered the city taking building and people shots. I was blown away with the results. The 32mm is a fast lens that is incredibly sharp. I got shots that I would never gotten away with using a slower zoom lens. I have to say I've gotten a little lazy over the years using zooms. But the resulting pictures have rekindled my enthusiasm for photography as I really need to work harder with a prime lens. I feel like I've just started learning the art of photography all over again. These Zeiss lenses are sharp, and the colors are magnificent. Conversion of my photos, to B&W, brings me back to my 35mm film days in the dark room at Elliot's Camera Shop in Davenport, IA. Yes, these lenses are pricey, but I will be keeping them for years to come. Camera bodies come and go, but these lenses are an investment you will be glad to make once you experience them.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

I got this lens a few weeks ago and ran it through some extensive testing in various environments, which eventually led me to taking it to the test lab and actually scrutinizing it, because I wasn't entirely satisfied that it was anything like the optical performance Ive come to expect from Zeiss. How hard is it to make a 50mm f1,8 lens when you consider that its already an established lens formula, with a proven track record in other mounts and other formats?I give it two stars because there are three things that make this lens not worth buying. Its sharp. Its small and well built. The separation between what is in focus and not, has an abruptness which tends to make the images all look the same unless stopped down beyond f4. and the bokeh is quite unattractive, which is a factor in a lens that is this expensive. The real deal breaker for is the spherochromatism (that horrible color shift on the front and back of the thing that is in focus), that which was basically done away with in quality optics made anytime in the last 15 years. It does not like to be exposed correctly in color, in contrasty light, you must under expose by -0.7, however it excels in black and white. I tested this lens on both the Fuji X-Trans and the Sony sensor, and it is equally as bad on both. The build quality is nice, feels good in the hand, and is nicely balanced on the NEX. The lens hood is idiotically massive. Its a spectacle in its own right. Why cant we have hoods with specificity like Leica's or the Fuji 35/1.4 and 18/f2?? There is no reason why any manufacturer cant use injection molding processes to make tighter tolerance square hoods which dont stick out into the middle of next week. I like the idea of a smooth rubber focus ring, however it is difficult to determine tactile efficiency of micro manual adjustments and, if, like me, you find yourself using a fingernail to add a bit of traction, you are out of luck on this lens.

Comments about Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Sony E-Mount):

Coupled with the Sony A6000, its a match made in heaven, great image quality across the board starting at 2.0 and with the trademark pop contrast of all modern Zeiss lenses.
Autofocus is a bit noisy and not as fast as other lenses, so test it before buying it, make sure is OK to your taste.

Works perfectly on my A6000. Its not that long since I own this lens, but I see how much better it is than the kit. Sharp and rich colors.

Once the autofocus stuck until I unplugged the lens from the body.

very nice lens, no complaints about quality. The only thing is that Hybrid AF is not supported on this lens, Zeiss might update the firmware this summer to add this feature.

Good Lens, probably best Sony APS lens for a roughly 35mm lens (50mm equivalent), but if speed is not that pressing matter, I think the Sony-Zeiss 35mm FE lens is a bit better at a comparable price.

It's sharp, gorgeous bokeh and rich colors. I have used my Zeiss 16-70mm and love it. But sometime I need large aperture for low light and bokeh. This lens is I'm looking for.
