It can accommodate a DSLR with a 70-200mm f/2.8 or a 300mm f/2.8 lens attached, two additional lenses, a flash and accessories, including a compact tripod. There is also a dedicated compartment at the back of the backpack that will accommodate most 15" laptops.

The modular UltraFlex internal divider system allows you to choose one of two compartment configurations for your photo gear in the bag. The first is the dual compartment option featuring a separate top area and a main camera area with quick side-access to your DSLR with a 70-200mm sized lens attached.

The second configuration can be created by opening the zipper on the front flap all the way around. The top compartment has a red tab on the bottom that can be pulled up to separate the hook and loop field and pushed down to combine the two compartments and create a more spacious main compartment in the bag. Pushing down the tab also reveals a padded holder that is contoured to support your DSLR when a 300mm f/2.8 lens is attached. The rest of your gear can be arranged using the padded dividers in the remaining space next to the attached lens.

For storing smaller items, the Transit Backpack has a hidden passport pocket on the outside of the front flap and a zippered accessory pocket with a key chain strap on the inside. There are two open mesh pockets along the back inside the top compartment. For carrying the bag, you can use the backpack straps as well as the nylon webbed grab handle at the top of the bag.

Laptops from different brands vary in size, please verify that the dimensions of your model will fit inside the laptop compartment
Hideaway tripod mount secures a compact tripod to side of backpack using a pull-out tripod cup and nylon strap with quick-release buckle

I chose to take this bag to Yellowstone last week in the winter snow because I thought I could get a lot of equipment in it and also have easy access to my camera through the side entry door. By reconfiguring the inside I was able to take two camera bodies (Nikon D7001 and D7000), Nikon lenses 18-200, 80-200, 10-24, 35 and Tamron 200-500 all with hoods and an SB600 flash, cleaning supplies, 3 spare batteries, accessories. On top of all that, I attached my Manfrotto 4 section graphite tripod with RRS ballhead onto the side strap/support. And then it also carried my iPad which I decided to take instead of my laptop but the laptop also would have fit. By taking the iPad, I also fit my Bose headphone case in the laptop pocket with the iPad. It was tight but I never thought I could get this all into and onto one bag but it worked out. Obviously it was heavy but this simplified air travel immensely. I don't check or gate check any camera equipment. It goes overhead or under a seat - period. Also as another pleasant surprise, the bag stands vertically by itself with all of this stuff in and on it. Unbelievable!! Simply the best bag I have ever used. My old Delsey shoulder bag is also great but not as great as this one. I also have two other Lowepro bags but this one is far superior to those other good bags also.

The only thing that would make this bag even better is a D-ring to hook a carabiner onto. I used the top hand holding loop instead to hook onto.

    Works Well

This bag isn't as large as I thought, I wish it would have been a little deeper. Laptop fits snug and no place for the power source. The color is not that attractive.

This bag has a little something for everyone. It easily holds an SLR with lens attached, in addition to effortlessly fitting at least 2 other lenses, a large flash, and many other accessories! To top it off, it also has a laptop sleeve and the main compartment has plenty of space to hold the charge cord for the computer. Great for travel and counts as a carry on bag. Worth every penny!

Bought this because I wanted a pack that had enough space for a long lens attached as well as other gear..AND a compartment for personal items. The only drawback is that the two side "pockets" are not adjustable and are just a tad too small for a water bottle to fit into. Other than that, the backpack is perfect for me, is very light and even though you don't have a choice of colors, I happen to really like the slate grey.

Comments about Lowepro Transit Backpack 350 AW (Slate Grey):

For the money, this is an incredible backpack. I use it primarily for quick location shoots around the city when I don't want to take everything I own. It holds quite a bit of stuff, including a few pro lenses, a pro body or two, and all the fixins. If your tripod is small enough, it can also handle that. I rarely carry a laptop when I work, but I've been using the laptop sleeve to carry a 9x12 portfolio with print samples. If you want to sell prints, you better have something to show people. I also carry a mini softbox in there for my speedlites, which is always great to have. But the bag isn't without a couple of little issues:

My first issue with it is that the pocket on the front is so small as to be basically worthless. I keep some business cards and some earbuds in there, and that's about it.

My second issue with it is that it could really use some more internal pockets. Photographers have to carry a lot of little things like cables, batteries, memory cards, lens cloths, etc., and it's good if you can keep them organized.

Basically, if you need a great everyday camera bag and you're short on budget, stop looking now; this is the bag for you.

Also, LowePro, what's up with some other colors?

Asked for this bag for my birthday after careful research. It was exactly as expected. Good for my 7D and extras as well and feels comfortable for me while carrying gear. Good quality, perfect for a photo hike. Only cons but not my opinion is that my family thinks I look like a walking turtle. I love it either way.

Very well padded bag (backpack) for daily carry-ons w/chest & waist-strap: will fit comfortably the Nikon D4 WITH attached Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VRII, Speedlight SB-910; Nikon ME-1 Stereo Microphone; Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 ED VR lens plus accessories.

Very comfortable backpack for long tracks.

Will carry tripod as it has a "footer" and straps.

Side ease-of-access NOT for Nikon D4.

Has zippered back-pocket for a 13" MacBook Pro, plus front pocket for a notepad.

Have searched long time buying/returning several bags/backpacks from different manufacturers and found this outstanding one!

            Do recommend highly.

Everything I was looking for!!! Light and versatile you can config it any which way you want. For most packs I have had in the past were too heavy to start and difficult to handle. especially coming out of a car. I am 70 things don't always work the way you want.. With this pack fully loaded is still manageable at my age.

I like the side pockets which lets you take out the camera without having to take the book bag off.As i said earlier i don like to have my camera around my neck all the time so it really helps to have easy access to the camera for when i really need it.It also does a great job at holding my tripod and has great storage room for other items such as snacks, water bottle, note pad etc.Lastly i like the fact that it stands without falling over.I wished they modified it to fit larger notebooks up to 17 inches considering this is the largest this bag comes in in this specific model.

Bought it for a trip to Brazil, but had to buy a laptop sleeve to carry my computer outside. Very comfortable, looks durable (time will tell better), lightweight. I recommend.

Comments about Lowepro Transit Backpack 350 AW (Slate Grey):

I love this bag, I got it to take with me for NAB this year. It holds a variety of lenses and accessories with no problems, as well as a couple extra pouches for personal items, filters, etc. I like how it has a hip strap, for when I go hiking (it really helps your shoulders when walking long distances), as well as a rain cover (I live in Oregon, needless to say it's a huge plus to have that available).

I do wish it had a few more zippered or velcro pouches on the inside, for batteries, SD/CF cards and such, so I just ended up putting them all together in the top pouch (on the inside). Having the option to sling over the bag and getting quick access to the camera is great, I think I'll keep it in that configuration for a while. If you want to carry two DSLR bodies it will work, one of the cameras will have to have the lens detached. It will limit your space for carrying some more lenses though.

It's built really well and very lightweight, and a plus side it stands up on it's own when you set it down (even with a laptop in it)!

The laptop pouch is good if you don't have a really thick laptop, I have a several year old HP 14.5'' and the pouch is just big enough fir it to fit inside. If you have a 17" it definitely won't fit.

In the end, it has a couple of small flaws with the minimal pouches and laptop pouch size, but it's a perfect backpack for travel and day hikes!

This bag is used for travel where i don't need every piece of camera gear but just enough along with room to carry a few other items. The very top handle seems to be a little weak. Although it hasn't broke yet I worry when the pack is full and heavy it will. The bag is a little bulkier than what I was expecting.

Every compartment work fine. Easy to access the side opening. Light and comfortable. I have 1 DSLR and 3 lenses and they all fit well in several configurations. Side strap for tripod was a plus. Rain protection hidden was also nice.

                    Solid, confortable backpack

I bought this backpack two weeks ago, just before going on a 7 days cruise. I have taken about 2000 photos so far while using it, and it is amazing. Very confortable and solid, all the equipment is protected (D3200, 18-55mm, 55-300mm, 50mm 1.4), and I still have room for my filters, iPad, and other accesories (I believe it can afford up to 5/6 lenses or flashes). Perhaps the camera comparment is too big for my D3200, but I managed to reduce it and now fits perfectly.
