The Elvid Lynx USB Remote Focus Controller for Canon DSLRs allows you to remotely adjust focus, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and exposure compensation using a manual focus wheel. It also features an auto-focus, shutter release, and video record button. It connects to your camera with an included USB cable and is powered by two AA batteries (not included). You can operate it handheld or mounted on 15mm rods via supplied single and dual rig mounts.

Up to four focus points can be programmed into dedicated preset buttons, from near stop to far stop. Each one quickly brings the programmed distance into focus, as long as you're using the same lens. All the controls are applicable in Live View. The focus speed can be fine-tuned in three steps and nine sub-steps within each step, and the focus wheel is adjustable between clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. For increased focus accuracy, a magnification function lets you enlarge a subject and then adjust focus, and the focus will be retained when you set the subject back to normal size.

The controller is compatible with the Canon T1i, T2i, T3, T3i, T4i, 60D, 70D, 7D, 5D MkII/III, and 1D Mk IV. The included USB cable is 5 ft long, but longer cables are also supported. Two standard size USB ports are available, on top and on the side, so you can use the one most convenient to your rig setup. A custom fit, leather carry case is included for storage.

Comments about Elvid Lynx USB Remote Focus Controller for Canon DSLRs:

Easy to use. Plug it into USB and go. I'm happy it works with both my canon cameras. A and B stops have been great in the studio working with macro subjects.

Comments about Elvid Lynx USB Remote Focus Controller for Canon DSLRs:

I use a lightweight shoulder rig with a Canon 60D to shoot event videos (promos, weddings, etc.). I needed a unit that would allow me to start and stop recording without moving my hands to the back of the camera, and I needed a unit that would help with remote focus that didn't cost several hundred dollars (and require lens gears).

The unit generally does what it was designed to do. I was able to mount it on the bar next to my left hand where I can reach it easily. The only issue I have is that the focus controller is hard to calibrate. On my 18-135 zoom, it really only works well when zoomed above 100mm. On my 50mm prime, it is so finely calibrated that I have to spin the knob in circles multiple times to focus. I'm probably doing something wrong with the unit, but it has been a bit frustrating.

The focus point feature is very good and works as advertised.

Comments about Elvid Lynx USB Remote Focus Controller for Canon DSLRs:

I have been experimenting with various rig set-ups and the follow focus solution had eluded me until I discovered and acquired the Lynx controller. It was the perfect solution to use with the 5D MK2.This controller interfaced with the camera functions as stated and being able access up to 4 saved focus points makes a snap to maintain focus, especially on the move, without the need to match gearing for different lense sizes. The remote feature allows for flexible mountng points on a rig or as example, recently I had a camera stand mounted high for a birdseye view for an outdoor wedding and was able to control that camera from below with the controller and a 7"monitor attached.Great value for the price for any follow focus,as well to be able to remotely control many camera functions is a total bonus.
