The SpectroLED Studio 500 Daylight LED Light by Genaray is built around a 500 LED panel with an LCD touchscreen that gives you easy control of light intensity from 100 to 0%. Generay includes a wireless remote control with a range of 65' for lights mounted overhead or at a distance. The SP-S-500D offers a 60° flood beam angle and a high CRI of >93 for precise color rendering.

The kit includes the SpectroLED SP-S-500D panel and a ratchet-handled mounting knuckle. A multi-voltage AC adapter, 2 cable straps and a diffusion filter to soften the light's output are also included, as is a daylight to tungsten conversion filter. It all fits in the kit's soft-sided carry case with shoulder strap.

Designed primarily for the studio, the SP-S-500D features a Large LCD touchscreen to control 100-0% dimming with negligible color shift. Alternatively, you can control the light wirelessly via the included remote control. Constructed entirely of metal, the SP-S-500D features an integrated carry handle and textured, reflective 4-way barndoors with gel clips that fold flush to the fixture to protect the array during transport. The SP-S-500D is channeled on all 4 sides to allow repositioning of the mounting knuckle to facilitate vertical or horizontal orientation.

You can use the included multi-voltage AC adapter with right-angle input virtually anywhere in the world or use an optional Sony V-Mount or Anton Bauer battery plate with pro batteries when mains power is not available. Control, flexible features, portability, and remote control make the Studio 500 Daylight LED Light a smart choice.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED Studio 500 Daylight LED Light:

I'm trying to decide whether to return these or not. They're bright but they produce a nasty magenta color. Out of the box, the color balance is closer to 4200 than 5600 (see photo) so you have to 'plus-green' them to get rid of the magenta cast and then CTB them to get them to 5600. That's a lot of work to get them to do what they're advertised as doing.

Other than that, they're built well and look cool.

Great fixture but nowhere close to 5600K

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED Studio 500 Daylight LED Light:

I just ordered a couple of these and love everything except the strong magenta shift. If you're mixing these with Kinos–or any light that outputs a true 5600K–be prepared to gel the heck out these with plus green.

Built quality is great. Output level and punchiness are about comparable to a Diva 400. Light quality is nowhere near that of a Kino but if you could afford a Kino you probably wouldn't be reading this. Overall value is not bad.

I love the carrying case and the magnetic diffusion filters that come with the kit. The remote is very handy and allows you to dim, turn on/off and quickly step down in increments of 25%. The remote is also somewhat flimsy, so I have a feeling ours will be broken by the first shoot. The remotes do seem to be independent to their respective light. In other words, one remote does not control all lights at the same time, but, rather, only the light with which it came, which is great.

Buy some velcro to attach the power adaptor to the rear body of the light so it doesn't dangle 3 feet below the fixture.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED Studio 500 Daylight LED Light:

We've used the Studio 500 as a key light on an interview shoot and it looked pretty good. There's a definite improvement in spectrum from their round lights, which have a strong green spike. But I'm not sure they would actually rate a 93 CRI, since they've used LEDs with a definite pinkish hue to compensate for green spike. Not happy to see that the same light is also sold by Ikan, since Gradus told me they produced them internally. Gradus Group has been pretty responsive to issues with their other products, seem to honore the 1 yr warranty. I'm not thrilled about relying on electronics and not mechanical knobs for adjusting luminescence. The remote is handy. The clips for filters on the barn doors are difficult to manage and the doors seem to have no other purpose since this is a panel light with dimmers and the doors don't really alter angle or diffusion that effectively.
