The SpectroLED Studio 500 Bi-Color LED Light by Genaray is built around a 500 LED panel with an LCD touch screen that gives you easy control of color variable from 3,200K to 5,600K, as well as 100 - 10% dimming. Generay includes a wireless remote control with a range of 65' for lights mounted overhead or at a distance. The SP-S-500D offers a 60° flood beam angle and a high CRI of >93. The kit includes the 13.58 x 7.48 x 2.75" SP-S-500D panel, a ratchet-handled mounting knuckle that can be repositioned anywhere along the grooved panel edge. An AC adapter, 2 cable straps and a diffusion filter to soften the light's output are also included, as is a soft-sided carry case with a shoulder strap.

Designed primarily for the studio, the SP-S-500B features a large LCD touchscreen for adjusting color temperature from 3,200K-5,600K so that you can quickly match other light sources or create effects to suit your needs without fumbling for filters. Dimming the light intensity from 100-10% with negligible color shift is just as easy whether you make your adjustments on the back panel or wirelessly via the included wireless remote control. Constructed entirely of metal, the SP-S-500B features an integrated carry handle and textured, reflective 4-way barndoors with gel clips that fold flush to the fixture to protect the array during transport. The SP-S-500B is channeled on all 4 sides to allow repositioning of the mounting knuckle to facilitate vertical or horizontal orientation.

You can use the included multi-voltage AC adapter with right-angle input virtually anywhere in the world or use an optional Sony V-Mount or Anton Bauer battery plate with pro batteries when mains power is not available. Control, flexible features, portability, and remote control make the Studio 500 Bi-Color LED Light a smart choice.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED Studio 500 Bi-Color LED Light:

These lights make a great light kit for video. The ability to dial in the color temperature is incredibly useful. They're also very light weight, which is good for travel. I recommend using diffusion material with them to reduce harshness. The build quality is high, too. I sometimes find the 500 led lights provide insufficient brightness, but they're much more affordable than the 1000 led model.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED Studio 500 Bi-Color LED Light:

I purchased this light through a recommendation from a fellow painter. The primary application for my needs is a studio light for oil painting, tattooing and occasionally for painting models from life.
      It's lightweight, sturdy and adjustable.
As an oil painter and tattooist, having the option to adjust the color balance is a luxury that's definitely worth the cost.
The only real con for me is no on off switch on the remote. I would prefer to keep the light fixed on the light stand, rather than have to lower it up and down a few times a day.

We have been using a 4-5 Lowel Tota lights with umbrella's at each tattoo station, the con being too much heat in a room with no ceiling insulation.
Slowly switching to the Genaray lights seems like a viable adjustment.

      Interview fixture

      By BüK

      from Chicago

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED Studio 500 Bi-Color LED Light:

This fixture is decent if paired for a two person interview area. It is a short throw fixture. If put up at 9 foot high you'll get a nicely washed 6' x 6' area. Since it has warm and cool LEDs. For max brightness using both colors LEDs your setting would be 4100 K. It I s well-built and comes with a nice soft padded bag. I wish it had more punch though.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED Studio 500 Bi-Color LED Light:

I just bought two of these lights complete with stands in a bundle and had my first opportunity to use them for a full day of shooting auditions.

I have other, more powerful lights but hate to drag them around due to their size, weight, and fragile nature. The SpectroLED 500s on the other hand are compact, relatively lightweight, and come packed in their own sturdy, padded bags.

The touchscreen LCD for controlling the color temperature and brightness is a bit finicky -- I can't just tap it briefly to adjust a setting up or down, but that may ultimately be better than accidentally changing something when you didn't mean to. Another reviewer stated his preference for knobs/dials to make adjustments quicker -- my preference would still be the touchscreen for the precision and repeatability that it provides. Ultimately it is more important to me that I get the settings right, and not whether I spend five seconds less setting up the light.

The barn doors are very sturdy and I'm glad they are included. The diffusion filter doesn't appear to be particularly effective, but LED lights are less prone to hotspots and have less of a need for such a filter, so that's probably OK.

I do wish the cord between the power supply and the light was a couple of feet longer, and that a velcro loop or something similar was supplied with the light. If you put the light on a stand, the power supply will hang by the relatively short cord. That's unnecessary strain on the connectors and cord -- at the very least a velcro loop should be supplied to address this.

As far as the light output and color range are concerned, they are very good but not great. I wish the light was brighter and could go both warmer and cooler, but both were more than sufficient for this weekend's audition shoot. I did a quick whitebalance for ambient light in the camera, noted the color temperature, and matched it on the light's touchscreen -- BAM!, done. I had the lights at 50% brightness to provide fill and ran them all day, they never got much warmer than room temperature.

I had thought about getting the SpectraLED Studio 1000 lights instead of the 500 for the extra light output, but for now the 500 more than serves my needs. Getting two more 500s would be cheaper than one 1000, provide slightly more light, and be more flexible.

I haven't used the remote and don't think I ever will.

Pro: It's small and light, and light is adjustable.
Easy to move from location to location.

Con: Care should be taken when setting up lights to make sure placement is correct or thy may be to bright and makes the image or images slightly blue.

Great for short films and filming anywhere.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED Studio 500 Bi-Color LED Light:

We've had these for about a month now and....these lights are pretty awesome.

Pros: Easy setup/tear down, nice cases for protection during transport, great light output with flexible adjustments to get what you need, "barn doors" are excellent for helping to control light direction in certain situations. Nice and cool, our studio no longer heats up from hot bulbs making it uncomfortable!

              Cons:
Power cords have a box on them (similar to a laptop) that dangles about half way down when stands are extended. Not a biggie, but when we are moving around the lights a lot during a shoot, I feel like I need to grab onto it to keep it from banging around.

The stands have a littl sway to them, but what can you expect.

I wish the batteries were less expensive and you didn't need to purchase a plate to attach them.

We are loving the variety this light gives and all the uses we can get out of it. It's durable and the quality for the money is much more than expected. It also is extremely user friendly. The only thing I'd be careful with is the barn doors are fragile (as normal). You would not want to stack these lights if you have other heavy equipment. The doors woudl most likely break off in the case.

Comments about Genaray SpectroLED Studio 500 Bi-Color LED Light:

We have begun shooting product photos in house and the spectro LED's are very useful. Since we wanted to use Live View Tethered shooting The constant light allows for quick adjustments during the shoot.
Much sturdier construction than I was expecting. The T slot tripod mounts are very strong.
I thought I would like the rear LCD color & % control but after using it would rather have a dial. adjusting with the LCD "up & down" buttons is slow.

I use this to do interviews for a show that I host on the internet and I was surprised that this light was put together so good (Frame is metal and brackets are very solid). Cannot compare with any other brand but this panel is very bright and works very good.

Very nice light for the cost with many features. I would have given it 5 stars but the website was a little deceptive about battery pack options and I ended up having battery packs that can be used with it.
