ASUS Republic of Gamers G750JH

Quad-Core 4th-Gen Haswell Intel Core i7 Performance
The ASUS G750JH imposes its will on other gaming notebooks with its powerful yet low voltage Intel Core i7-4700HQ processor. Its quad cores can run at 2.4GHz and up to 8 threads. It can also be overclocked up to 3.4GHz, thanks to Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology. The 24GB of 1600MHz DDR3L RAM memory ensures that programs and games open quickly so you can jump right into the fray with minimum loading times. Multitasking is also a breeze for when you have to take a break from competitive multiplayer in order to check email, surf the Web and more
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M Graphics
Housing the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M graphics card with 4GB of GDDR5 discrete memory, the ASUS G750JH is definitely gamer-grade and enthusiast-approved. With DirectX 11.1 compatibility, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M provides all the power needed to make PC games look and perform great. Approximately 50%-75% faster than the graphics offered by previous generation GPUs, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M GPU supports enhanced antialiasing to sharpen textures. Frame rates soar and resolutions rise without compromising performance
SonicMaster Technology
Developed by the ASUS Golden Ear team, the exclusive SonicMaster sound technology comprises bigger speakers and larger resonance chambers to deliver more powerful sound and deeper bass. It also uses software to fine-tune the audio output, adapting to diverse applications and usage types. The intuitive and friendly MaxxAudio interface helps you take charge of what your ASUS G750JH sounds like, with flexible settings for different needs. You could also opt to use one of five audio modes based on content or application. The ASUS G750JH also comes with an onboard headphone amplifier which channels extra power to the headphone output so that personal sound doesn't come across flat and tinny. With the extra amp, headphones perform to their full potential with improved clarity and sound range
High Velocity Networking
Online gaming requires a fast and consistent Internet connection. Lag and other latency issues will make multiplayer games unplayable. The ASUS G750JH also works with 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi networks. If you absolutely need a stable connection, you can use the 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 LAN jack for reliable Internet access. There's also Bluetooth 4.0 support so you can use a Bluetooth-compatible devices, such as a wireless mouse
Sleek Stealth Design
The ASUS G750JH retains the design that has become a staple of the ASUS Republic of Gamers Series. Still getting its inspiration from the F22 stealth fighter, the ASUS G750JH has sleek aggressive lines and panels combine with massive rear-venting dual exhausts, contributing to a highly effective thermal architecture. The powerful stance is directly derived from its predecessors, but the ASUS G750JH is slimmer with a sharp front-end. One major difference is the solid aluminum palm rests on an ergonomic gamer-friendly inclined surface, which is feels great to the touch and reduces heat, allowing you to game comfortably for extended periods of time
Intel Thunderbolt Technology
The ASUS G750JH includes Intel Thunderbolt technology. The Thunderbolt standard delivers data and graphics via one connection at up to 10Gbps, which is roughly double the bandwidth of USB 3.0. With more external devices beginning to implement Thunderbolt, you can count on your ASUS G750JH to become a hub for content and data that moves quickly, including large multimedia files, high definition video and sound, and much more
Solid State Drives
Solid state drives (SSDs) installed in the ASUS G750JH accelerate data access, resulting in a faster and more responsive system. SSDs are also more reliable and longer-lasting than mechanical hard disk drives, and by installing the operating system on a SSD, the ASUS G750JH shortens boot times and game loading times. The dual 128GB solid state drives are configured in RAID 0 so you can tap speed and space in one neat hybrid design that's fast and sturdy. For large capacity storage that has enough room for your game and multimedia files, the ASUS G750JH includes a large 1TB 5400rpm hard drive
Innovative Cooling
High-end performance requires adequate cooling and the ASUS G750JH uses dual rear-venting fans that quickly remove heat from core components to verify stability and endurance. In addition to lowering temperatures dramatically, the thermal design promotes your comfort, as heat is driven out the back of the notebook. Likewise, the dual fans are quiet and even the little sound they emit is barely audible to you as it's also directed away from the front of the notebook
Instant On
Exclusive ASUS Republic of Gamers Super Hybrid Engine II power management technology brings you the responsiveness of a 2-second instant on resume from sleep mode. Get back into your game without delay. Plus, you can enjoy up to 14 days of standby time with automatic data backups should the battery drop below 5%. Please note that battery life may vary depending on usage
ASUS WebStorage
ASUS WebStorage means your personal stuff is always with you on any internet-connected device. Keep files in sync automatically so you can share photos and video online with family and friends or stream music and movies wirelessly. The ASUS G750JH comes with 32GB of free lifetime WebStorage and you can add more at any time

Windows 8

The New Start Screen
Windows 8 introduces a new Start screen, which has all the information you need in one place. The traditional Windows desktop screen has been replaced with a more tablet style design featuring tiles. These tiles are customizable to your liking as well as update in real time. News, weather forecasts, sports, contacts, apps and more are available for you to use. It's all right there on the Start screen
To the Cloud
With Windows 8, you'll be able to bring your personalized Start screen with you by signing into your Microsoft account. When signed in using your Microsoft account, you'll have instant access to your own Start screen, themes, language preferences, browsing history and browser favorites. You can also connect to your services as well, such as Microsoft Outlook, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and more
Windows Store
In the Windows Store, you can search for or browse thousands of apps. Choose from the featured apps or grab one of the most frequently downloaded apps to see what all the hype is all about. You can also see how other people rate apps. For certain apps, you can try it out before you buy it so you can make sure you absolutely want an app before you spend your hard-earned money on it

Comments about ASUS Republic of Gamers G750JH-DB71 17.3" Notebook Computer (Black):

I am on the move a lot as a photographer and needed a piece of equipment healthy enough to work on some of my pictures in the field and be reliable. This laptop has been my mainstay when my desktop has become slow and cumbersome (I use the desktop and large screens for my print photo work, but start my photos on the laptop). The system is fast, boots quickly, does not heat up like others in the past (HP Pavillion w/Nvidia melted). It could use more USB 3.0 ports. I love the coating on the whole thing and the size even though it will not fit into a normal laptop bag... beware of laptop bags as this guy doesn't fit in most of the 17" laptop bags. I have an older 17" bag that barely zips over the laptop that makes me very uneasy. Looking at Pelican cases now. The battery is wonderful, lasts about 3 hours, but I'm usually not far from power. It weighs a bit more than most, but the speed, reliability, usefulness of the laptop when I'm away from the desktop is worth the weight. I do have one complaint and that is the size of the C: partition drive. It is not nearly big enough for my program files which I usually install to C and now do not have enough swap space for temp files for this to run at top speeds. I don't know who decides on drive sizes, but they need a lesson on how large program files can be and needed swap space. I am constantly having an issue with drive space on C:... Other than that, I have no other complaints about this system so far. I purchased with Windows 8 (no choice) took some getting used to from Vista, but wouldn't trade this device for any other, but still need to figure out how to resolve no space on my C: drive.

Comments about ASUS Republic of Gamers G750JH-DB71 17.3" Notebook Computer (Black):

This computer has been pretty impressive! The power that it unleashes is truly amazing and ASUS really designed a quality computer capable of handling some very graphics intensive applications. However to my disappointment is the flaw in the Windows 8 operating system that just seems haunt a good portion of regular computer users that believe in the continued productivity that a traditional pc and keyboard setup can produce. A well known flaw in Windows 8 and 8.1 is causing text on your screen to look blurry, fuzzy grayscalish, and unreadable. From the research that I was able to gather from different boards on the net; the problem seems to originate from the new way in which windows 8 and 8.1 renders text on your screen to be able to scale the information to be readable on multiple devices. Though in concept it may seem like a great idea to be able to render the text among multiple devices "universally"; in practice, it just set personal computers back several years (Great job Microsoft!). When I purchased this ASUS laptop about a month ago, I was super excited to finally have a workstation that I could truly multitask on. However, I noticed the text on my screen was just a little blurry. Gathering from the excellent reviews posted on [$]and multiple vendors that sold this machine model, I had no doubt in my mind that I would be working with a machine that would live up to all the hype. I began noticing that I found myself squinting a lot as I worked on my machine and began noticing that my eyes would struggle to work on the machine for an extended period of time. So I began working with the settings to see if maybe a setting was off or maybe the screen needed some sort of calibration; or even cleartype adjustment. To no success I began to wonder if maybe the root of the problem was the video card or a faulty screen; however that did not really make sense because when running a graphics intensive program or playing Assasins Creed at full settings, the laptop handled it without breaking a sweat! I contacted ASUS tech support and ran a series of tests and adjustments to see what the root cause of the problem was; again no success there either. It made no sense to me, how could a brand new, high end laptop display text more blurry than my 7 year old laptop that it was replacing? I mean, comparing the 2 side by side, the difference was very obvious. On my older laptop, text was sharp, readable, and I did not have to struggle to focus on the screen in order to read the text displayed. I find myself having to only be able to use my ASUS laptop for no more than 30-45 minutes at a time; any more than that and its tired eyes and headache city. So after further research, it turns out the problem is not ASUS but rather an operating system that just threatens to send productivity back to the stone age. With each Windows update, the problem is not getting any better. For those of you running into the blurry text problem on Windows 8 and 8.1, I recommend to use the tiny band aid that I did and "disable display scaling on high DPI settings" under each of the programs that you wish to be able to see the text just a little better so that at least you can squint and rub your eyes a little less; while Microsoft gets it together and figures out an actual working solution.[@]Other than the Windows 8 and 8.1 blurry text problem, this machine is really amazing. In all fairness, I give it 5 stars because the review is specifically for the machine. I cannot blame ASUS for distributing it with Windows 8 since the same way WIndows XP got shut off from further support from Microsoft; Windows 7 will also face the same fate. The machine itself has my respect!

this is the 3rd asus computer i buy in the last 5 years, I had the g73 i currently have a g74 and the one that I bought was for my dad's flight simulator saitek advance pro panel, the asus g750 Iloved the more expensive ssid hard drives, the computer turned on in just seconds, and the flight simulator runned maxed out at 35 fps, awesome. the only problem not enough usb for the saitek panel,17 modules, 4 usb's had to connect to usb hubs and sometimes there was not enough resourses to run the modules, the computer is a monster with 24 ram, 4 gigs of video, but flight simulator had allways challenged the best computers.

Comments about ASUS Republic of Gamers G750JH-DB71 17.3" Notebook Computer (Black):

I always buy Asus gamer grade laptops, my previous laptop was the G75VW and before that the G51JX. This laptop is powerful, has an free slot to boost your ram to 32Gigs and burns through games at high frame rates. So far I have gotten 60+ fps in Arma 3 and 70+ in The Secret World. The sound is also amazing. With volumes @ 15% it's still pretty loud through my headphones, a huge markup from the other laptops.

The only gripe I would have is that my G51 came with a backpack and a Razer mouse and the G75 came with a backpack and a ROG mouse. This came with none of the above and also is branded with Assassin's Creed Black Flag under the arrow keys.

The trackpad is extremely sensitive so you may want to turn it down using the software and after installing all the windows updates, the computer no longer restarts, it partially powers down, (well fully powers down but it doesn't register, the status lights shows it's on even though everything is off) and you have to hold the power button to get it to tun off before you can start it back up. In the middle of trying to troubleshoot this now.

Comments about ASUS Republic of Gamers G750JH-DB71 17.3" Notebook Computer (Black):

I use this laptop for both gaming and business. Everything from Excel spreadsheets to surfing the internet. From burning DVD's to watching movies. Connected to wifi networks at home and office, to wireless printers.
Everything works flawlessly! What more could we ask?

I guess if I were to point out my biggest annoyance it would be the length of time it takes the laptop to "Restart". Kinda slow as in 2-3 minutes.

FYI this is NOT a light-weight laptop, but a HEAVY-weight. It weighs in at 10+ lbs so that may be enough to put some off, but let's be real! If you want a powerhouse, they don't come with Helium installed (usually).

I am using this for video and audio production. I haven't had it long but so far I am very impressed with this laptop.

The only thing I don't like about it is I wish the pad was clickable but I that is easily taken care of with a mouse.

I've been using ROG products since 2010, and this is the best by far. The screen looks astonishing, the keyboard looks and feels great and the graphic power in this machine is amazing.
Yes, it's not cheap, but is the best in the market. The last model I owned (g73) was gret too. Really reccomend this brand.

Comments about ASUS Republic of Gamers G750JH-DB71 17.3" Notebook Computer (Black):

I am very happy with this laptop. It looks great and runs games at high settings. The screen looks very good and is a little wider than other laptops which I prefer, the keyboard and track pad are of very good quaility as well. I like that the track pad buttons are quiet when you push them and not those annoying clicking kind. The track pad tracks better than any other I have used. It starts up in about 7 to 10 seconds most of the time which is very nice. I think Windows 8 is nice as well you just need to learn all the tricks to use it properly. The speakers are loud and sound better than other high end laptops I have owned such as Dell, HP, Gateway. Although, they can be a little hard to adjust since they have multiple ways to adjust them. The cooling is excellent and quiet compared to my HP and Dell which sounded like jet engines most of the time. The only issue I have with the laptop is that the headphone jack has noise. Hopefully Asus will come out with a driver update to fix that. That is the only reason the product gets a 4 out of 5 stars. This is the first laptop I have owned that actually seems like it was designed by people who use laptops.
