I'm a college student and I was looking for a tablet that I could use to read PDFs/websites and take notes. This tablet is perfect for that.

    *** Pros ***

The active digitizer is great for note taking. I don't have to worry about my palm touching the screen--it's automatically ignored when the pen is near the screen.

The tablet itself is very mobile. It's light enough to hold in my hands when out of the case, and the keyboard it comes with is great. At first I wanted a clip-in keyboard (like the Surface), but I've found that Bluetooth is more useful since I can quickly use the keyboard without having to plug it back into the tablet.

The battery life is around 5-6 hours, which is plenty for my lifestyle.

They keyboard can last for many weeks after charging once.

The case and the tablet both feel very solid. No flimsy plastic. The surface is slightly textured, so you don't have to worry about the tablet sliding out of your hands.

Normally I wouldn't take about software, but this tablet works very well with the provided One Note. Since this is the Office version of One Note, there are a lot more options than the app version. Also, having the full Windows 8 OS makes this a great mobile computer. I now leave my laptop at home and only bring my tablet around campus.

Browsing, watching videos, and more runs smoothly. The screen is bright enough to read outdoors.

    *** Cons ***

They keyboard doesn't come with a touchpad, which is a shame since there's definitely room on it. It's not that big of a problem since this is a touch-screen and comes with a good stylus.

The S-Pen stylus is solid, but it's a little small for note taking or use for extended periods of time. I bought a larger S-Pen with an eraser that Samsung sells separately, and that's been a good investment.

The processor isn't fast. This generally isn't a problem unless I have 5+ tabs open, as well as many other programs. This can noticeably slow the tablet. However, as long as you close programs/tabs when you're done, this isn't a problem.

Support for this product is sub-par. Not really this product's fault, but I feel obligated to mention this. This isn't a highly publicized tablet, so not many people or stores know about this.

My tablet can't seem to update to Windows 8.1. Personally, this isn't a big deal.

The keyboard charger is unique, but this hasn't been a problem since I charge it so infrequently.

    *** Summary ***
If you want something to take notes on, check emails, read papers, and do other light things on the go, this is the tablet for you. The processor is good at these functions. The included case and stylus (and Office if you use it) really complete this experience. This isn't a machine for heavy multitasking or gaming. Rather, it's an excellent productivity tool.

The product page says 'Discomtimued". I am not surprised. I use this tablet to access the internet away from my desktop. Videos would not even play to the end .. they would always hang up. I think the thing was so slow at buffering the videos the player outpaces the info it is receiving. I did not really pay attention to the fact it only has 2 MB RAM or I would not have purchased. The internet "response" is SLOW and clunky. Often times, it takes several seconds of more for typed characters to appear on the screen .. resulting in overtyping, backtyping, fighting with, and yelling at the computer as it provides slow-as-molasses-in-the-wintertime speed while on the internet. BTW, I have a 30MB cable connection that I use for flight simulators without any speed issue, so it's not my internet connection. The tablet has also broken and fixed itself twice so far. One time the thing would not turn on (power on) no matter what I tried, including pushing the button and waiting to see what happens (no re-pushing), and leaving it plugged in and recharging for several hours before trying again. Nothing would work after days and days of trying. When I was on the phone to the support person it suddenly began working again. It only involved pushing the power button so I don't think it was a user error.Days later, when I tried to power on I got a "Locked" notice on the power-up screen, and it never got past the (Locked) power up screen ... no amount of waiting (2+ hours) would get it past the power-up screen. There was no message for WIndows Updates being done or anything. The support people could not explain it. The support people sent me some links to look at for things to try once I got the computer running, which was humorous, in a way, since I told them I could NOT get into the computer at all. While getting all the info to send my 4-month old tablet in to a Sumsung service center, I saw the "Locked" message suddenly was gone and I could now get into the computer .... after 1 week+ of seeing "Locked" and a hung-up screen EVERY time I tried to power it up.This wierd behavior doesn't make me feel any better about this slow tablet. The support site says if I send them the tablet and they can't see anything wrong they'll charge me $ even though it's under warranty. Nice Catch-22 to a tablet that works SOME of the time.I see on the product page it says "Discontinued". I do not doubt it. The recommendation I got must have come from the Samsung Sales Department. With my internet speed on my desktops, compared to the sluggishness of this tablet ... it makes me question ANY review that touts it's use in accessing the internet, or any type of communictions. I should have gotten an iPad.

Very impressed that this machine came WITH a keyboard AND a stylus AND Office at this great price. The stylus is a little bit small, but VERY useful and accurate. Operates smoothly with minor hiccups (studdering) when connecting over WIFI. HINT: Gently press stylus on item until it makes a circle and it makes a "right click".

If you want the mobility of a tablet, but the performance of a PC, then this is the system for you. I have several Samsung devices: the Galaxy tab 7.7; Galaxy note 8; Notes II and 3; and two
TV's. I find that they make exceptional products and for a reasonable price. We also have the dreadful ipad (all lower case intentional) and iphone. These are nothing buy overpriced, useless, non-productive toys. I abhor apple products, but I digress. The only way that this could get any better would be if they make this with Android and again in the 10.1" size. I am a fan of Samsung.

I love this tablet but it didn't start out that way. A lot of updates had to be done to Windows and then when I upgraded to Windows 8.1 the internet kept dropping and the Bluetooth keyboard wouldn't connect. We finally figured out that it was the Anti-virus program that wasn't allowing the Internet to stay connected. Once we disabled this program the Internet stays connected and my husband figured out how to delete and re-install the Bluetooth driver. Now that it works, I like the size of the screen and the functionality that I get with the removable keyboard. I'm happy to have a full version of Office including OneNote which I can use with the S-pen. The speaker sound isn't the greatest but it is fine. I haven't found much that I don't like about it!

practical compared to its reasonable offered price. the bt keyboard is very nice, would rate it 5 stars if the keyboard had a small track pad and was a little bit lighter. As an overall impression it is a good value for money.

For the price, you can't go wrong with this fast speed, high end laptop. It is manufactured incredibly and with a lot of care. Also, it is lightweight and very portable, while being very durable in the same token. This laptop is for more experienced users, as well as college students that are looking for a laptop to use throughout both high school and college, as this laptop will be good for at least 10 years.

Nice portable device. Like the keyboard and S-Pen. Setup okay. Windows 8 has lots of problems. Upgraded to 8.1. Lost Bluetooth functions after a day and then lost internet access after two days. After 1.5 hours on the phone with Samsung Support the unit was sent to repair. It came back with Win 8 reloaded. Do not want to try 8.1 for a while until the 8.0 problems settle down. Generally Microsoft has a fix or a work-around for the common problems but takes up a lot of my time. Bottom line nice unit, terrible operating software.

Received the Tablet timely and am very pleased with it. It is a learning curve which is taking more time than I expected, but worth it. A user guide with more detailed use would be beneficial.
I expected Outlook to be included and am disappointed it isn't.

Comments about Samsung 64GB ATIV Tab 3 10.1" Tablet with Office Home and Student 2013 (White):

Since this is the first tablet that I have owned or used the things I have to say about might not be very good since I have only used it for three weeks.
It took me three factory resets to get windows 8.1 loaded. I have windows 8 on my desktop so I had no trouble using the tablet.
I installed a 64 gb sd card and transferred all my pictures onto it so as not to use up the factory storage. I used the sky drive and it worked great.
I have to use a mouse to get around on the tablet which might defeat the purpose of the tablet(as my kids tell me) but with my age and limited use of my hands it saves me a lot of grief trying to click on something even with the pen, but maybe with a little more practice I might get better, but the pen is kind of small for me to hold. The optical mouse works great on any surface so it is no big problem for me except when I move to another room and forget the mouse.
Now about performance: poor. My family all own I-pads and they have used it and say it is slow. I cannot argue with them. It will freeze up on me and you have to wait a few minutes and it will start working again.
There are many times that I turn on the tablet and it will not turn on.(problem fixed) I think.
Since all of my work to do on the tablet is in Microsoft Word or Office which it says is installed but you can only use it for a month and then you have to buy it. I already bought office 2010 which I had to load on the tablet to do my work.
Everything I own is made my Samsung(TV, DVD ect) so I bought this because Samsung made it and this is the first time that I have been unhappy with their product.
The screen is bright and clear so I do have something nice to say about the tablet, but that is about all. The camera sucks.

I purchased this Windows 8 ATIV Tab3 to partner with my ATIV Neo Windows 8 phone. It has now been returned to Samsung twice for repair.

Initially, both the Bluetooth and WiFi drivers were "bad" after updating to Windows 8.1. With no WiFi connectivity, it had to be returned to have the hard drive reflashed. I received it back several days later. The Bluetooth driver was working however the WiFi was still not working. I literally spent hours on the phone and on on-line chat with Samsung techs to no avail. The consensus seems to be that Windows 8.1 does not play well with something loaded on the tablet. It has been sent back for a second time to be reflashed with the advise "not to upgrade to 8.1".

Comments about Samsung 64GB ATIV Tab 3 10.1" Tablet with Office Home and Student 2013 (White):

I like the size, what is capable of doing and that Office is available. The second day I had trouble logging on. Weird message "too low resources". I never saw the message again. Also having problem connecting to wifi at home. I would be connected then the bar icon would say limited and then no connection. I would disconnect and connect. Not sure why this is happening. My old laptop did not experience any connectivity problems at that time.
I am still trying different things and have until Feb 13 to return the unit.
