Comments about OWC / Other World Computing Express 2.5" USB 3.0 SATA I/II/III Hard Drive Enclosure (Black):

Seems to work okay, but the drive inside seems to not fit correctly, the enclosure seems a little big for the drive. The drive seems to also dismount when my macbook pro goes to sleep and then disables the USB port that it was connected to. I have to restart my Macbook to get the USB port working again.

        • When Upgrading To Ssd

Comments about OWC / Other World Computing Express 2.5" USB 3.0 SATA I/II/III Hard Drive Enclosure (Black):

I had a HDD that came out of my Mac when upgrading to an SSD. It had all of my data and I wanted to keep it local without filling the SSD. Transfer speeds are great. I'm a longtime fan of OWC and this product does not disappoint. The case is a little slick for my liking and I've almost dropped it a few times because of that.

This is the most attractive USB disk enclosure I've ever had. It's also very light. I wish I had ordered multiple. I put a SSD inside and it clipped in easily and snugly, no stress on the internal connector.

            Another great OWC product.

This works the best with SS drives. I have tried other cases and always had issues.

Comments about OWC / Other World Computing Express 2.5" USB 3.0 SATA I/II/III Hard Drive Enclosure (Black):

So I bought this for my Intel 520 series SSD (SATAIII)...I recently upgraded to a new retina MacBook Pro and my old MacBook Pro had the Intel 520 as its boot drive and everything was already transfered over so I decided to use my SSD as a scratch drive for video editing. I used a Seagate SATA adapter which was decent but didnt provide an enclosure really. I bought this to give my SSD a home and my SSD speeds went up by about 40-60MB/s...I'm now getting 250-300 on read and 180-230 on write...not BLAZING fast but faster than before. The drive DOES support SATAIII so If I throw in a Samsung 840 Pro I suspect I'll get SATAIII speeds...Its not super duper durable but it gets the job done, their is some space in between the enclosure and the SSD but it holds it just fine, if I were concerned about durability I could theoretically throw some material in to pad it but SSD's are naturally durable. Only con is sometimes it causes the drive to dismount when I close the lid on my MacBook...never had this issue with other external SSD's so this is a bummer but as strange as it sounds I don't put my MacBook in sleep when Im doing allot of work anyways. Overall pretty good but 1 star off for the durability and sleep problems.

Super Easy to use, no fussing with needing to screw the HD into the inside of the case then screwing the case together as with other enclosures. HD just clicks in, and the cover snaps closed and you are ready to go.

Cheap platic feeling to it. Not as sturdy as I would want to entrust it with my SSD. There are better productos IMHO.
