I bought this lens adapter to use EOS lenses on my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. I was interested in this model particularly because it has the manual iris built in. When using EOS lenses I am forced to set the aperture wide open on a Canon DSLR and have no way of stopping down. With this adapter I gain this function. The ring is smooth and easy to adjust and everything mounts solidly. Some people had complained about vignetting on their m43 cameras with this adapter but I have had 0 problems with that on the BMPCC.

Its a great tool for someone who can't afford the high cost of the EOS to m43 Speedbooster with active mount, but still needs control over how much light is getting to the sensor (everyone).

Well I had high hopes for this as I am a Canon user with lots of Canon glass and recently purchased the GH4. My first impression is not a good one. I found it very difficult to get sharp focus using this adapter even when I was stopped down to f16 or f22! I was using my Canon 70-200mm L series II lens which is the sharpest lens I own. Anyway I haven't used it once since I tried it out. I'm not sure I will ever use it and that bums me out. I think I will just invest in new glass for micro 4/3's. I imagine others have had great luck with these adaptors but so far anyway my luck has not been so good. I haven't given up yet but I'm not excited about using it anymore.

Comments about FotodioX Canon EF Pro Lens Adapter with Built-In Iris Control for Micro Four Thirds Cameras:

I bought this for my Blackmagic pocket cinema for use with Canon EF-lenses. For the price point, this little adapter offers quite a bit. Although not as fancy as higher-end speed boosters, this little adapter certainly does the job. Build quality is decent, and made completely of metal. The iris blades are crafted well enough to give you those nice circular bokkeh orbs, unlike other cheap adapters. My only gripe being the lens release switch. The sutble knob is not the most ergonomic, and digs into your flesh whenever you use it. The one drawback would be that there are no included caps for storage. I would recommend buying your own inorder to protect the iris blades, and keep some dust out.

I bought this for my BMPCC and am not disappointed in anything about this adapter. It clicks into place solidly, and the lens does the same. Not a micron of wiggle so you know the mount on the camera is not being stressed at all.(Assuming you are using a rail system, I would still advise buying a lens support riser if you run and gun like me). The clickless Iris control is fantastic. You can actually fade to black in camera (or the reverse). SUH-WEET!

Comments about FotodioX Canon EF Pro Lens Adapter with Built-In Iris Control for Micro Four Thirds Cameras:

If it was not for this product, my GH3 would remain untouched even until now. I purchased the Panasonic camera GH3 over a year ago and I didn't purchase any lenses with it. Now, I am able to use my GH3 often all thanks to the FotodioX built-in Iris control lens adapter. I love canon lenses and I'm not too keen with micro-four thirds lenses. Anyways, this lens adapter support certain canon lenses such as the EOS lenses even the L -series. Unfortunately, it doesn't support EF & EFS canon lenses. However, during a low-budget music video shoot, I was able to duct-tape the EF/EFS canon lenses to the lens adapter. I know it sounds "ghetto" & crazy but it works. I realize that the EF/EFS lens flushes or completely levels against lens adapter's surface. I thought it would be a great idea to duct tape (tightly and securely) around the ring where it should mount. By taping around that ring, there were no lights nor dust coming to the sensor. Just be aware, adhesive tend to melt in a hot environment. I wouldn't recommend duct-taping a zoom lens. You can try. But it would require some extra tape around that ring. I managed to tape a zoom lens once, however, the glue started to wear off. But I noticed that ahead of timse before it fell. Whether it's duct-tape, gaffer tape, or camera tape, they should work fine. However, paper tape and scotch tape is definitely out of the question when it comes to the safety of your gear.

The price is very reasonably. It sold out when I wanted to purchase it the first time around. I take that it's a good product for a great price. I'm glad B&H have this item in their inventory.

              JAH bless you all.

              -Robsley Auguste

P.S. Not to mention the built-in iris control. However I wish it was numbered for instance (f/s 2.0, f/s 3.2, f/s 7.0 etc...) The diagrams (pictures of iris from open to close) on the lens adapter doesn't help much. I still give this product 5 stars.

I was impressed with the design and construction of the adapter, but when I tried to mount it on my Olympus OMD M E-1, the "camera-side" surface of the adapter was so thick that it contacted the front of the viewfinder of the camera, preventing mounting. I am going to take the adapter to a local machine shop and have a millimeter or two of surface removed. I will report on the adapter's function later...
