Unfortunately BH doesn't want me to include links or anything so I tried to give you the best search terms in my explanation - hopefully this helps someone:Ok so unless you have BH hook this up for you, which I'm very curious exactly how they would, it's kinda of complicated because the cable they give you for the TX that goes on your drone does not work with anything you have if you used the upgrade board. Most hobby shops will give you a split cable that connects from the TX to power via the balance cable off your 3s phantom lipo battery. BH gives you a split cable that goes to a male 3.5mm jack and a T-join or deans style connector.I upgraded my phantom with the upgrade kit so it meant putting on an entirely new board therefore not needing the GCU or PMU. The board gave me three wires out to connect to video output so that was awesome, but with the cable BH gave me, I needed to figure out how to connect it to the 3.5mm male jack. I wanted to be able to easily remove my TX, so I bought a female 3.5mm jack, cut off the two tails (red/white audio outs) and soldered them to the video output cable from the board. Do NOT use the power from those three outs from the upgrade board as it's not meant for that kind of power (just use the yellow [signal wire] and brown [ground] to solder) As for the power cable, I had to find a T-Join or Dean's style female plug to either the balance female so I could connect it to my phantom battery or bare wire so I could solder it onto the board - the latter which I ended up doing and am very happy about because it's one less thing to connect. I found this cable on [*] searching 'deans style to ec3' and found one with some short wire that made it perfect to just cut off the ec3 adapter and use the bare wire to solder onto the board where the battery connects. Red to red, black to black. Here's a more detailed explanation of the video connection: there's three wires from the board - yellow (video), red (power [but don't use this cable for power]), and brown (ground). On my female 3.5mm jack, the white cable had a yellow and white cable in it and the red cable had a yellow and green? cable in it. Now I can't quite remember the color, but since they both had yellow, I knew that was the ground and via a wiring diagram online I found out that red (or right audio channel) was connected to the middle ring which is what the yellow (video) cable from the board should connect to, so I connected the yellow from the board to the green? cable from the (red side of the tail of the female 3.5mm jack) - make sense? The brown cable from the board I connected with both yellow cables from the tails and it worked! The cable for the TX was a little big so you have to cut a hole in the phantom to get it through the mainframe. I actual found a perfect oval sized weak spot right behind/underneath where the actual power cable for your phantom lipo battery connects to the board (when looking on the inside of the drone with the top off) and was able to simple cut it out with a blade. So I hope this helps someone out - I know I definitely spent a bunch of time searching and asking around on rc helicopter forums trying to search for wiring diagrams and understand what I was supposed to be wiring.Of course you don't have to make yours easily removable and you can simply cut off the power cable and wire those directly in the board and the video out cable from the board too.Watch a lot of youtube videos - they are extremely helpful.

Does not come with any detailed installation instructions or patch diagrams or pin-out diagrams.

The 8-pin harness cable that came with the transmitter came stock with dean connectors. My DJI phantom doesnt use dean connectors, so i cut it off and decided to solder the red wire directly to the positive battery lead and black to the negative on the Phantom's motherboard. However when i powered on the Phantom a plume of smoke came out of the bottom of the Phantom. My AVL58 Transmitter was fried instantly as well as my iOSD mini module since they were interconnected.

The transmitter and iOSD mini now both reak of burned/melted plastic/electronic components.

Turns out the red wire on the transmitter cable harness WAS NOT positive, for some reason red was negative. This WRONG and made no sense. It goes against DJI's standard as well as the general standard around the world.

Beware! test and thoroughly research before doing any custom wiring!

Comments about DJI AVL58 5.8 GHz Video Link Kit:

Mounted this on my DJI Phantom 2 for FPV flying and for framing shots. Video feed comes from GoPro camera mounted with the Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal. I would suggest using a right angle RP-SMA Male to RP-SMA Female connector for attaching the antenna to the transmitter. Doing so allows the antenna to mounted verticaly which improves the range.

If you intend to use goggles or a monitor with a built in receiver you won't need the receiver that comes with this kit.

This transmitter is not compatible with Fat Shark goggles.

This is an excellent unit. I wish you could buy just the transmitter as the monitor I bought has an excellent diversity receiver in it so I haven't used the AVL58's receiver. I'm sure there's other people in this situation.

This transmitter is comparable to many FPV transmitters on the market. But it suffers the same problems of all analog transmitters; the video is sometimes choppy or glitchy. The transmitter is a bit bulky and heavier than some others.

Comments about DJI AVL58 5.8 GHz Video Link Kit:

I only tested this on the ground to be sure it worked, but once I had everything connected, the video from the GOPRO3 did indeed feed wirelessly to the LCD panel included in the quadcopter package. There was no need to tweak any settings or change channels or anything, the video was right there.

I have not tested it in flight, in part because I wanted to stay focused on learning how to fly the copter. The LCD monitor would have been a distraction. I will likely use it on future flights, especially if I need to see what the camera is seeing. However, dealing with both the remote control and the LCD monitor seems like a lot to handle for one person.

The way that the transmitter electronics are attached to the bottom of the copter has me wondering if its a fragile solution that may come apart or fall off at some point. I might need to do something to help protect and support that area. It might be that the DJI Phantom 2 VISION copter addresses some of these issues via a different solution.

I purchased two of these from B&H for my quads, just love it! It is great to have this so I know exactly what I am filming (video taping) from distance (without it, framing a subject is not easy even at 15 to 20 feet away). It has a very good range, more than what average people need of a transmitter. It is very reliable and no electronic interference at all (mounting it under the quad and 2-3 inches away from the quad is the key).

Comments about DJI AVL58 5.8 GHz Video Link Kit:

Went out half mile in a remote area covered with hills. Area was Santa Clarita, CA. Had no visibility of the Phantom 2. Flying only FPV. No interference. There were no electrical lines nearby. Very clear picture. Get DJIP2-09 DJI Phantom 2 FPV & Cable Hub. No soldering needed. Plug and play. Had it running in minutes.

I was worried about the installation in my Phantom 1, but found that the DJI FPV Hub worked for that aircraft and it made installation easy, didn't even have to open up the Phantom. Get the FPV Hub, no soldering required.

DJI just released a HUB, at the beginning of February, this eliminates the sodering that was needed before, everything plugs right in, having this will make install very easy, three plugs and your done

Great wireless transmitter/receiver for FPV video. Works great with nice range as long as you place the antenna effectively. I had the installers at B&H do the honors and when the quad came, everything worked perfectly, right out of the box… Worth every penny given how cramped things are on a phantom

Comments about DJI AVL58 5.8 GHz Video Link Kit:

Use is for FPV for my Phantom 2 with GoPro.

Kit does not come with a manual, nor is there much support out there for it. Transmitter must be TAPED to the outside of the Phantom's body. Receiver must be TAPED or velcro'd to the monitor we chose (Elvid).

There was no cable to connect the GoPro to the Transmitter.

Transmission of image is terrible at best. A three second view is the best it can do. Mostly I get brief glances of the camera's POV.

This system worked quite well while testing (after we built cables, rigged a lithium battery setup and determined a way to set the kit up), however once in a work environment it failed in every aspect.
