This is a real jewel - you can keep it in your shirt pocket and forget about it. It is simple, works fine when you need it. In terms of size/power ratio it is a winner.I bounced it against white seiling with FX DSLR in average size room and got perfect exposure for entire space at 200 ISO. Runs on two AAA.And it looks and works fine on my compact P7700. This combo is an eye candy!Reviewing SB-300 trying to compare it to Nikon Big pro flashes would be silly - they are as far apart as cats and dogs. Most likely this flash was created to be a part of Nikon's P-series PS family. This item is for people who know when to employ big pro gear and when to enjoy time-off, caring unobtrusive neat things that work. If you like to drag your huge bagwith black heavy blobs to the cocktail party to impress (annoy) your friends, than this flash is not for you.Forget about ugly SB-400 - hot shoe connector sticking out and is perfect for making holes in your pockets. If you want workable cuteness with juice, go for it!

Not as good as the SB-400 by a long shot. See, e.g., Ken Rockwell's review. But had no choice, I could not find an SB-400 at a reasonable price. The only good thing one can say about it is that it is smaller than the SB-400.

Works awesome on hot shoe, and tilts adequately to get bounce and avoid harsh direct flash. Get a small cable, and you can use this off-camera very simply as well.

Needed a small, compact, but powerful flash for my Nikon Df. The SB-900 Speedlight was just too big for the camera. This flash works great for this camera.

This is a great entry-level light. It works well in small to mid-sized rooms. I wish it swiveled left to right and was a bit brighter. Nonetheles, it's a great starter light.

Perfect flash to take on the go. You can point it to a white ceiling for a softer light, which is something you can't do with the pop-up. Reliable and comes with it's own case.

I purchased this speedlight as an inexpensive addition to my Nikon 85mm 1.8 lens to help me with portrait work. I am rather inexperienced still, but have found this light source to be a great addition to getting better pictures. I would recommend a diffuser as well to help soften the light with portraits.

Comments about Nikon SB-300 AF Speedlight:

I bought this for a Nikon top quality point-and-shoot, the P7100, and it is if it were custom made for the camera. A bit pricy, but the quality of the build and design makes it worth it. I love how it is light weight, and a perfect balance for a smaller, but serious, camera

Comments about Nikon SB-300 AF Speedlight:

I own a couple of SB-800 and an SB-900 but they are rather bulky when you just want to wander around taking photographs. The SB-300 AF Speedlight provides an answer. For casual work, it is ideal. The only drawback is it doesn't work with Nikon's CLS system for when you want to set up something a little more involved. But that isn't why I bought it, was it?

It worked very well in night pictures, the buit-in flash did not deliver good images in night time, so I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Really good! I am new to flash photography so opted for a smaller speed light. Results to date are extremely positive. A game changer in terms of photographic quality and I am still learning. Already know that I'll upgrade in a year or so when I have more experience under my belt.

Comments about Nikon SB-300 AF Speedlight:

I was looking for a small flash to use with my Nikon Df that would fit in my pocket and be easy to carry. The SB-300 is a good compromise. I have an SB-800 and SB-600 so I knew what I was trading off to get such a small flash. I have been pleased with the result and find I carry it more often when I am doing spontaneous work.
