I needed a case to protect and carry gear while working, and wanted it to be an option for air travel. The 1510 fit that bill.
The only complaint I have is the long center divider. For most gear configurations, its fine, but I could see a use to have a shorter (or variable length) divider with the option of a perpendicular divider for even more configurability. I could see that having the option of being able to carry some gear and some clothing in the case could be pretty useful.
My "daily shooting" setup for the case holds 2 pro bodies with 16-35 and a 70-200 both with hoods attached, 300 2.8, batteries, flash, and some accessories. Having the hoods attached "wastes" some space, but one of the main reasons I had for buying the case was that I wanted something that I could have my cameras "ready to go" yet still protected in the car. If I'm arriving at spot news or stumbling across a feature, I didn't want to have to stop to find and attach hoods or get lenses on the cameras.
When I need longer glass, like for sports, I can get a 400 2.8, 70-200, 16-35, 2 pro bodies, 6 batteries, hoods, flash, and a charger with some space left for extra odds and ends.
This isn't really an issue for me, but if you are planning on using it for international travel, be aware that this case is pretty heavy. Fully loaded with gear, you're going to blow right by any international carry-on limits. For me, protection and the ability to carry-on domestically were the most important.
Bottom line, it's a great case and I've been happy with the purchase.

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
I've taken my gear on vacations and on camping trips but I've always worried about possible damage. Boarding a flight home last year, I was told that I'd have to gate-check my gear bag. I realized that I wasn't adequately protected against rough handling so the gear and I spent the night in the airport gambling that I could use the overhead storage on the next flight. I swore that'd be the last time for that!My other need is for protection in the field against dust, moisture, and rough roads on the way to remote campsites. I need something rugged while sealing out road dust and rain drops. Stylish, semi-hard cases carry a risk of damage and degradation of appearance under those conditions. I compared numerous hard and semi-hard carry-on cases. Pelican stood out for my needs. If there's a case you can trust to withstand rough handling to the belly of a plane, or the dusty, wet great outdoors, this is it.

The pelican is the best protection you can get. I purchased because it is supposed to be the correct size for air travel as a carry on. Being from Canada, I checked Air Canada's dimensions for carry on size and compared it to the exterior dimensions on B&H's website. Air canada's size is apparently 1/2" smaller then this case. Will see in 3 days if it is a problem or if it is carry on size for Canada as well.
Also packed up the case weighs in at almost 35 lbs. Not light to say the least but thats the price you pay for protection

End of story. Stop the search. Great to travel with, land or air. Be sure to pick up the - 1519 Photographer's Lid Organizer for Pelican 1510 Case - you just screw it into the top lid instead of using the foam and you get a ton more space for storage of the bits and pieces.

I had my eye on a Thinktank Airport International for a long time until my brother told me about this Pelican case. I was quickly converted to a Pelican person and totally forgot about Thinktank. Especially after watching the torture test video on their website! Wow! The first thing I said after watching it was "Thinktank would've failed every single one of those tests."Only a few minor complaints about this bag are:1-Doesn't include the lid egg crate foam shown in the photo.2-The wheel protrusion inside the case makes for some awkward gear placement.3-It's a bit on the heavy side. But, I guess that should be expected from a practically shotgun proof product.I highly recommend this case.

This is more than a camera case. I shoot from media pits and sometimes need to sit or stand higher, so this case serves those uses as well. Now to sell those other cases I have and only have pelican cases.

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
This is by far the best case I have ever owned (and I have had a number of them). The 1514 fits all my gear securely, and the divider system allowed me to easily configure the case accordingly. The quality of this product is outstanding. If you have hard earned money invested in your photography gear this case will soundly protect your assets. For me it's cheap insurance. I use it to store my equipment and as a travel case.
I strongly suggest purchasing the 1519 lid organizer. Installing it takes a bit of time, but it's not difficult at all.
This case is built like a tank, buy one, you will not be disappointed.

I have used Pelican Cases as well as Pelican Lights for many years and currently own four of varying sizes. All I can say is their products are virtually indestructable. I am very protective of my cameras and lenses and trust Pelican to keep them safe. I love the divider system as it allows me to change the configuration at any time. They are not cheap, but you will never have to pay for another. Lifetime Warranty.

Comments about Pelican 1514 Carry On 1510 Case with Dividers (Black):
As an event photographer, I bought this case to carry my most valuable gear to events. It is sized quite perfectly to fit two pro cameras, several lenses, 2 flashes. If you use Pro-gripped bodies, the camera height may need to be checked. Also, the top egg crate foam insert, while quite useful for protection, I could definitely use the space for carrying accessories e.g. cables, etc. i believe a top organizer is available, but needs to be purchased separately. Fully packed, it becomes quite heavy, but I do not mind this because I can simply roll it from the vehicle to the venue. If for any reason the wheels cannot be used (beach, stairs etc), carrying it could be challenging. Overall, I like it a lot for storing and conveying my equipment safely.

I used this thing hard the past weekend on a video shoot and it was worth its weight in gold. Everyone around me commented on how nice of a case it was and they would love to have one.
It is perfect for my Canon setup:
7d,5d,10-22,17-50,30,50,85&70-200. Along with the mesh pocket for the lid I can carry memory card cases, batteries, chargers, accessories, etc.
I could not have asked for more in this case (except maybe that it would have been free!)

I love this case! I love Pelican cases in general. this is my second one. I needed to get this smaller one and I love that it has wheels making it easy to transport. It also fits in the overhead bins on planes so you can carry your gear on rather than trust it to the airline baggage handlers.
