This is the same Vixen Dovetail Plate Mounting Block that is originally supplied upon the Vixen Sphinx, GP2, and GPD2 mounts.  It is primarily offered as a replacement for a lost or damaged original dovetail plate mounting block.

However, if you own a Vixen Atlux mount and wish to use the Atlux mount with Vixen's standard #2661 dovetail tube plate or #2576 accessory plate, you will need to purchase this dovetail mounting block as well as Vixen's #8779 base plate for the Atlux mount.

The Vixen Slow Motion Handle attaches to the Great Polaris series mounts for fine manual slow motion control of the right ascension or declination axes.  Two are originally supplied with these mounts, and it is offered here as a replacement for a lost or damaged unit.

This Vixen 6x20 8° Illuminated Polar Axis Scope fits the GP2 and all other Great Polaris series telescope mounts, and helps you achieve fine alignment with the true celestial pole.  When your mount is properly centered with the celestial sphere's axis of rotation, images are free of alignment-accuracy-based resolution loss.  When observing, small objects at the highest magnifications will reliably be in the center of the eyepiece like they're supposed to be.

Included in this package is a polar axis cap, setting circles for the R.A. and declination axes, and an external, adjustable red illuminator that attaches to the polar axis scope.  The GP2 and most of the Great Polaris series mounts do have an internal polar illumination device, but the included external illuminator has adjustable intensity and can be used to observe star charts and eyepieces.

This Vixen 4.2 lb (1.9 kg) SX Counterweight is used to add stability to German-type equatorial mounts.  While your standard counterweight might be sufficient for observing at 45° of declination, when you're at or near zenith it might be a different story.  The same is true as you add various accessories such as cameras and off axis guiders; these all add to the weight upon the scope's mount, which in turn necessitates additional counterweights.  It is a good idea to have enough counterweights on the mount to handle the scope easily at zenith, and then when you're at more middle declinations you simply move the weights up towards the neck of the mount.

The Vixen Optics HAL130-GP is a full size, stable and sturdy aluminum tripod intended for the GP2, GPD2, and all older Vixen Great Polaris series telescope mounts.

The HAL130-GP has height adjustment from 31.9-51.1" (81-130cm) and weighs just over 12 pounds (5.5kg), so it isn't terribly difficult to transport.  If you need additional height to accommodate your blessed stature or the use of a long refractor scope, add the optional #3909 Half Pillar.
