Celestron's 93655 Heavy Duty Wedge allows any of the 8-11" aperture Celestron CPC, NexStar GPS or Ultima 2000 series Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes to be used for long exposure astrophotography. It isn't necessary for visual observing, or for shorter exposures involved with lunar and planetary photography. But for long duration exposures of perhaps 5 minutes or more it makes an enormous difference.
The wedge permits a full 0-90° latitude range and provides incredible rigidity and strength, without too much extra weight.
An additional and eminently worthwhile option, the 93662 Wedge Upgrade Kit, provides finer altitude and azimuth axis adjustments to facilitate easier polar alignment.
