The Nikon #6919 adapter allows for digiscoping with Nikon's Coolpix 880 digital camera and the great line of Nikon Fieldscopes when used with a fixed magnification DS series or MC series eyepiece. It will not work with the older Fieldscope eyepieces which do not have a helicoid-type sliding eyecup, regardless of whether or not they zoom.
The DS Series of eyepieces have exceptionally low risk of vignetting and are highly recommended. If you're digiscoping with the DS Series of eyepieces and the Coolpix 880, merely purchase this attachment and the #6953 FSA-3 Non-SLR Digital Camera Photo Attachment
If you're digiscoping with the Coopix 880 and the MC Series Eyepieces, you will need three parts:
- This attachment ring
- The #6952 FSA-1 & 2 Non-SLR Digital Camera Photo Adapter
- And the #6953 FSA-3 Non-SLR Digital Camera Photo Attachment
- (FSA-1, FSA-2, & FSA-3 are in the #6916 Kit).
As with all digiscoping efforts, the best intentions can produce mundane unsharp images thanks to vibrations. You'll need a sturdy tripod with a video-type pan/tilt head first and foremost, as well as a cable release or remote control for your camera.
Note! Does NOT work with zoom eyepieces.
