The Rode VideoMic is a cost effective, camera mounting shotgun microphone that features an integrated shock mount and close signal reproduction. The VideoMic features a small, light weight profile allowing quick, unobtrusive mounting on DV and HDV cameras without appearing in the frame. The super-cardioid polar pattern and barrel canceling design attenuates side axis audio and results in maximum response at the front of the capsule. The result is close, noise free signal when capturing under noisy conditions or at moderate distances.
The shock-mount is permanently attached to the microphone and an attached shoe mount allows the entire microphone to be mounted to a hot-shoe on a camcorder. Replaceable rubber O-rings suspend the microphone on the shock-mount and protect against noise due to movement and handling. A coiled cable terminates to a 1/8" (3.5mm) mini output connection.
The Rode VideoMic features a condenser element that utilizes a standard 9 Volt battery. The microphone will run for approximately 100 hours on a single battery.
