SUMMARY:Seizing the Moments of Time: The Art of Long Exposures
DESCRIPTION:The late great Magnum photographer Henri Cartier Bresson coined the term Seizing The Moment with his iconoclastic street photography shots. Bresson would capture the perfect 1/50th of a second in which to capture the image. But what happens when you want to capture more time than a fraction of a second? In this class we will look beyond these fleeting moments of time and explore the images that can be created when you expose for seconds, minutes, and even hours with your camera. Gabriel Biderman is a self-taught photographer who has been capturing the moments of time with everything from pinhole to the latest digital cameras. He will go into detail on how to meter and process your long exposures using either film or digital capture. Focusing on Nocturnal and Pinhole Photography, Gabriel will unearth the unseen beauty and creative possibilities that lay between 8 seconds and 8 hours of exposure.
