Product Information

The MC2000 is a multi-band compressor plug-in for Digidesign's Pro Tools systems, designed to emulate the sounds of vintage and modern compressors in two, three, and four band configurations. Building on the success of their CompressorBank, McDSP has shown once again that elegant coding (read low DSP usage) and great sound are not mutually exclusive.

The MC2000 gives the user complete control of multi-band dynamic compression with common controls such as output (make-up gain), threshold, compression (ratio), attack, and release provided. Non-standard Knee and Bite controls allow the user to create unique and unprecedented articulation of compression characteristics. Multiple peak detection circuit types provide flexibility only previously achieved by owning several different compression units.

Steep 24 dB/oct crossover filters, taken from the FilterBank plug-in, minimize signal leakage into adjacent compression bands. The MC2000 is essentially 6 plug-ins - the basic compressor from CompressorBank (CB1) is configured in 2, 3, and 4 bands - all in both mono and stereo versions.

Features

• Compression Curve Modeling

In addition to the standard threshold and compression (ratio) controls, the actual shape and response of the compression curve can be adjusted with the Knee and Bite controls. Knee softens the compression curve, creating a smoother response. Bite gives the compressor the ability to allow signal transients to pass uncompressed, while the overall compression response is unchanged. These controls allow the user to emulate repsonses of their favorite vintage gear

• Multiple Peak Detection Circuits

Every compressor uses a model to detect and track signal peaks and then apply dynamic compression. 3 variations are available in CompressorBank - Type 1: Pure peak detection; Type 2: Pure peak detection combined with adaptive release times, plus a secondary release control; Auto: Signal levels are automatically tracked

Double precision arithmetic for 48-bit processing at crossover, compression, and all gain stages

ProControl, Control 24 and HUI compliant

The MC2000 can run on any MIX system DSP type (SRAM, DRAM, no RAM) - different configurations can share the same DSP chip. Due to the processing requirements of the MC2000, legacy cards and Nubus hardware are not supportted

Requires iLok for authorization
